This was one of the first adventures I went on once I started filming for my channel. It was a lot of fun exploring poverty wash and I learned a ton, like making a checklist of what I need to bring. I hope you all enjoy the video and thanks for watching.
I’m glad you clarified that this was one of your first adventures Jefe. Aside from spending 20 years in the Army, who know about checklists 🙄, you’ve always seemed squared away. Thanks for sharing another adventure.
Make a list of everything you have. Use that list and put a check by everything you need for your trip. Then cross off the check mark as you pack the items. Add things to the list that you need to buy or borrow. Has worked well for me for a half century. Don't forget to take all the bags you packed. Cheers.
That Mountain Lion talk really resonated with me. Freaks me out a little knowing that they are so stealthy. Oddly enough after I had my first encounter with one (on the La Verkin Creek trail), I stopped fearing them so much. After looking it up I found there have only been 130 attacks in North America over the past 100 years. Not bad for the millions of people living and playing in their range.
I had a mountain lion think I was game around 2 one morning during a full moon. When it came at me, I yelled deep and loud and ran towards it as it started to attack. I've never seen something change its mind and turn around so fast. I've also charged a few black bear. When a predator is sizing you up, they don't expect you to show no fear and go to it. I don't even go armed often when I go out hiking through the mountains at night anymore. I don't use a light, and figure I'm not going to have time to identify any dangers before I draw. I was given less than 6 months to live over 6 years ago, and it took away any fear I have in life. I think people are afraid of too much to live and love. I've had to start over more than once and learned to enjoy it. I've been blessed every time. I've lost true love and learned to love again and gained family from it, then lost it when I found out I was terminally ill. After 8 months of chemo, I was told there weren't any good options so I took the best option and never went back to the oncologist. Been feeling better ever since, and am 90 percent don building myself a cabin in the mountains to leave my kids. Losing fear and facing it has made life awesome, to say the least. I love going out at night when the moon is out. If you don't use a light your eyes will adjust more than most think. Ive hiked miles cross country at night my the moon. You see the mountains and vallys different with the moonlight. I feel like you can see the ground through the trees better, especially with snow. Really enjoying your new channel, May God bless you in your travels.
My late brother in law found out he had had Hodgkin’s disease. After the initial surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy, he decided he was going to live life to the fullest with the time he had left. He and my sister sold most of what they owned and bought an unfinished sailboat. It came with a full set of sails, the engine and drivetrain and all the controls, but it was bare inside. They paid the manufacturer to install a teak deck, but built and outfitted the entire interior. I cruised with them that summer on the Chesapeake. Then they went to the Caribbean. Based in Rock Sound, Eleuthera in the Bahamas, they cruised the Caribbean for a few years until the cancer snuck up on him again. But they squeezed every drop of life that they could while he was alive. A magnificent man.
@davidflorcruz2908 it sounds like he had a lot of love in his life and left behind some good memories. Getting out and seeing God's creation and sharing it with those you love adds years to everyone's life. I have stage 4 mantel cell lymphoma and chronic lymphocytic leukemia. They tried to put me in hospice, so I stopped going to the Dr. I'll just say my wife couldn't go through it with me, and I didn't think I had time to be heartbroken. I prayed God would change my heart and make me who he wants me to be. I felt truly at peace within a few days and have enjoyed so much time and life with my children and seen 2 grandchildren born in the last 6 years. I've spent 40 years of my life in the rockies, and instead of dying, I've started over again. Bought land, made a lot of lumber from the trees I cleared, and bought a little more. And now I'm 90 percent done building a solar off grid 1300 sq ft home to leave my kids with. Lol, I just feel like I have 90 percent to go since I'm planning to build log and leather furniture from scratch. Maybe that will give me enough time to walk some trails with the elk in my yard and show it all to some of my grandchildren. Maybe that's why I left these long comments. I truly shouldn't be here, and I thought because of the doctors that I was going home to die. Instead, I chose to face life and fear. I found out some people were not honest or truthful to me, but I know we go on and when we do, failure to explore and live life to the fullest with those we love will be our biggest regret. Letting fear creep in keeps us locked up where we are comfortable and imprisons us from turning life into an adventure instead of drudgery. We should not stay or be miserable in life. We should let people know we love them and lift them up. I bet your brother in law loved sharing the beauty and freedom of gliding through the water and where it can take you with you and your sister as much as you did. You have not forgotten that time together. I meant to somehow include this, but I don't know if it means much. When I went home to face my fears, it was not death itself but the valley of the shadow of death. I knew I should fear no evil because my lord will comfort me.thats when I realized that valley of the shadow of death is life itself and our lord will bring us out of this valley for the better no matter what we face.
Jefe forgot a lot of things but he didn't forget to have a great, safe time! 👍 Fun place to explore, thanks for taking us along. Safe travels and GOD bless
Such a beautiful area . When I first started going to Utah 40+ years ago I thought some areas were just desolate and uninhabitable but the more time I spent there the more I started to appreciate the beauty of these areas and the wildlife that lives there . And the area is so vast I don’t think you could explore it all in a lifetime. Thanks for taking us along .
In my neck of the woods, we have lions and bears but humans are the biggest risk. My own trauma story is how two local teens were killed by a "crazy man" with their own guns while target shooting out in the forest. Every year I read stories about "hunters" in our state shooting their friends or family. Given Jefe's military background I'd trust him, but most people are idiots around guns.
Glad to see the bronco out and about great video for someone who can’t get out and adventure out like you do. How to stroke that hold me back so nice country you live in keep it up
Jefe I think you need to sit down and make out a list of items you need when camping or hiking. Bug spray, batteries, correct plugs, lights, flashlights, food utensils to cook and eat with. The places you are are so amazing and beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
I don't make checklists because when I do, I forget to put things on them! :D What works for me is taking my time packing; several days if necessary, but this isn't something you can really do if you have what they call _a life._ :p
Itssssss SunDAY and that means Jefe uploads another video, im terminally sick and i look foward to sundays for 3 reasons being ive survived another week and 2 videis from myc2 favourite channels jefes and matts of rd recovery, i dont have a massive bucket list, ive had a good life , but id love to see jefe and Matt
I love wheeling, but i also love finding old stuff, ghost towns, etc. Merlin does a little, not nearly enough. Also, it's always a good idea to keep the firearm handy. Cougars, while much larger, have the same habits as any other cats. Bears are scary..... always take water. Love this channel
After visiting dozens of petroglyph sites, I've come to the realization that they are nothing more than ancient graffiti, lol. There are some that actually have meaning as markers, etc, but I think most were just bored people drawing on walls, just like today. 😁 3:20 Uh, don't be dumb. *ALWAYS* bring water along. ESPECIALLY if you're solo.
Maybe a "to go" bag? Lol! But, just like in Scouts, you probably won't forget those items again, heehee! Safe Travels, we enjoy the scenery & hobbies! Thanx!
Lots of cool views, love the fun times!!! Question, could you set your trailer up so the top could lower down? So you don't have the height issues running around in the woods!!!! But the setup is great!!! Keep up the fun times
If you put "petroglyphs" in an episode, I'm gonna click on it so fast. Super cool find! That rivals the Great Hunt panel east of Price. So much going on there! I actually would worry more about wasps than mountain lions or bears! Wasps are big jerks.
I live in Idaho I hiked back in one time did some camping.. next day I was hiking out down to the creek to do some fishing. Apparently a mountain lion had followed me all the way to my camp his tracks were right in mine. I never knew it was there.😮
In northern Saskatchewan along the Churchill River found some hand painting done many years ago, very remote, very spiritual along an tributary, Even the few local natives up there who trap, do not know the history. Bears - working in the bush in N Alberta encounters within 20 meters. What is spooky is going back to the same site the next day and seeing timber wolf tracks. Love the bush up there
I used to always forget things when I went out. I ended up getting a storage bin (Plano Storage Trunk) and just throwing everything inside there so it was ready to go when I was. always made sure to check the bin before I left. fairly decently priced, or you can always go with the alternative Rubbermaid storage bin just to keep everything in one spot (cookware, cables, lights. etc.)
Jefe I agree that Utah is Gorgeous! I’ve been in Moab and I have been to all the State and National Parks in Utah. Now that I’ve almost 80 years old I’m not up to traveling that far.
Jefe, something to consider before heading out on these adventures. Make a checklist of items needed. When you forget something needed while adventuring, add it to the list for the next adventure. The more items on your list the less likely it will be that you forget something. Better to have more than needed then to not have the items you need. You can always add things that will needed and remove things not needed for any particular adventure.
Hate to tell you this, but there are Sasquatch out there too. They can definitely make you feel creepy. There's too many sightings of them out there, in fact, everywhere. That little gun won't protect you against them.
Never let your guard down in the wilderness, and never underestimate a big cat. I always carry a gun when I’m out there. Your adventures look a lot like the things I like to do. Currently in Arizona looking for gold.
Looks like fun A hint - whenever I buy an electronic gadget now I look at the description for the words "USB charging" , this means that batteries are included.
I spend alot of time in the outdoors playing. I always pack my 10mil. And I have been stalked by a mountain lion it got way closer to me that I thought it would before I scare it off
Jefe, you should try the Wyoming BDR. It may be the most remote trail system of all the BDR's. It travels from the Colorado border all the way to Montana.
Well if you are worried about the mountain lions, After cooking your food, you should worry about the bears. They do not care about avoiding you, when they are hungry they invite themselves to your cooler and they love to lick BBQs. LOL.
"Helpful tip" for the helpful tips your font is too small in my phone screen 😅. Humble suggestion: cut the legs of your tent and put a size bigger pipe on the base, drill holes in the original and the new tubing to receive cotter pins. eg: aluminium trusses in music concerts . Gentle reminder: if the tent trailer height is less than your car roof it can give better mileage and aerodynamics along with improvement in handling
Awesome scenery, its nice to be able to see parts of the world you otherwise would never see. I'm not a fan of asparagus but you cook it with every dinner, atta boy you can have mine!!🌎♨🚎
Need to make a list and put everything in a container that stays with the trailer. We have an area called Pinon Canyon that has petroglyphs and dinosaur tracks.
Jefe I'm wondering why you didn't make the Trailer drop down sq tube in sq tube slide adjustable by a coupe feet making your overall top clearance allot better??
Idaho elk season I had a lion walk right in to me bout 8 ft away I wasn't gonna be able to unholster my pistol or turn my rifle around in time. Thankfully he took off. Found I was sittin bout 80yrds from a spike elk kill that was his/hers lol.
little tip before you head off on your next trip, make a list of stuff you need and cross them off when you have them packed 🤣 i'll bet you the list will get longer with every trip hahaha
See Jefe?? ALWAYS! BRING your H2O and emergency fanny pack... Glad you didn't get hurt, lost or otherwise! Congrats on your new channel! Still hope to see you on MORR now and then?! Big Hugs and Happiness tonyou!!🙏😇🙋🏻♀️
that high roof of your trailor makes it quite unpractical! I would suggest a liftsystem for that trailor to lower that rooftent below your car roof line. You can buy 12v liniaire actuators to make that easy and not that expensive! I just used that system to make a full sized bed in my camper van. Its mounted in the roof and i lower it down 90cm to sleep...
Public safety dispatcher for a national park here - I personally wouldn't recommend depending on iPhone SOS. I mean, if its what you have and you're in a bad situation, use it, but I would highly recommend getting an actual satellite device like a Garmin InReach. We get a TON of false alarms from the iPhone SOS system (usually the false alarms are in the front country where the road is, we get a lot of false automated crash detection alerts) which means that if you're way out in the wilderness and we don't get a message from you besides the initial SOS, we may not send anyone (it takes a lot of time, energy, and yes, money, to get someone out there. If we know there is a legit SOS, okay, we are on our way. If we have doubts, we may have to wait and see if we get anything else, like other people on trail using their devices to hit SOS as well. I have only experienced a situation like this once and it was on a well-used trail so we knew there would be other people around). Also, the iPhone SOS goes to a call center in India and every person I've talked to from there has talked very fast and had bad comms the first minute or two on the phone, then add in an accent and I can't understand a word they say. I always have to tell them to slow down and repeat themselves. They just try to rush through the information. Another reason I prefer Garmin (or similar devices) over iPhone SOS is with Garmin, they send our center a link so we can communicate directly with the device user. With iPhone, we can't do that and have to keep using the call center to send messages. That may work in a city with good cell service where messages can come much faster but it does not work well for wilderness use. This is just my personal opinion from my experience with it and I do not speak for or represent the park service in any way in this comment.
Jefe you are a great camper. You eat very well. I have a question about your Bronco. Do you still have to after market spindles on the Bronco and if yes, how do they work.
need a camera guy? ive traveled cross country about every way possible, from thru-hiking the appalachain trail, kayaked source to sea down the Mississippi river, sailing, a little bit of rock climbing etc
I'm not worried about black bears. I've never seen one in all my life that wouldn't turn and run the other way when they see a human and I've seen hundreds of bears in my lifetime. Even though I've only seen two mountain lions in that same lifetime it exactly that that bothers me about them. Sometimes, when I'm out hiking I'll get this feeling I'm being watched and I'll stop and start looking around. I've never seen anything but I know they're looking at me. Might or might not be a cat but I know they're there. Actually, the animal that worries me most is moose. They can be evil tempered bastards. I've had a few encounters with them and been charged twice. It's no fun. On another note I do like that you mentioned that petroglyphs need to be preserved for future generations. Not to be critical Jefe but that means not touching them also. The oil in your skin can help to deteriorate them. Great video though. Always look forward to your next one.
wear a toque with eyes on the back. the cougar thinks its your front and won't attack. That's what we do on Vancouver island which has more preditors per sq. mile than anywhere on earth.... and now there are grizzlies on the island.
Did the grizzlies take the BC Ferries to get to the island? I used to live in mainland BC north of Whistler. We had bears wander by the house quite often. My cats got annoyed with them.
This was one of the first adventures I went on once I started filming for my channel. It was a lot of fun exploring poverty wash and I learned a ton, like making a checklist of what I need to bring. I hope you all enjoy the video and thanks for watching.

BUTTER is a necessity, no matter what you may be cooking. IMO Love your adventures.

Honestly this is the best spinoff channel from MOR
I like Rudy's channel and misadventures, this one is pretty cool though. 😊
Losing fear and facing it has made life awesome, to say the least. I love going out at night when the moon is out. If you don't use a light your eyes will adjust more than most think.
I absolutely love your trailer, tent, kitchen setup.

Jefe going camping in beautiful country it doesn't get any better than this! Happy to see that you are armed when in the wild like this.

You need to get a Garmin InReach. It's the best protection when traveling alone in an area with no cell coverage.
Great sunrise! Everyday is a gift. Thanks for sharing the adventure.
Cool video! I absolutely love to explore. Thank you for sharing 👌 😊
Best video yet Jefe! Keep up the great work.
Love your channel Jefe .

You know after this trip I thought the same thing haha. There is a plan to make it happen.
Jefe, you should always carry a pewpew when hicking for safety, specially mountain lions. Greetings from Mexico.
Love the vlogs ! Do you ever not eat aperagus with your diner ?
Nice Vlogs, keep up the good work 🎉😂
Somebody needs a GPS for Christmas.
You need to get a GMRS radio and connect it to the repeater in the area.
It looks like Jefe's camping is a good excuse to enjoy fine dining in fresh air.
Idaho elk season I had a lion walk right in to me bout 8 ft away I wasn't gonna be able to unholster my pistol or turn my rifle around in time. Thankfully he took off. Found I was sittin bout 80yrds from a spike elk kill that was his/hers lol.
Like your camping trailer, shame it doesn't fold down a bit to clear over hanging objects 🎉. Thanks for the videos.
thanks for the adventure.
With your list of things, you forgot you did remember the two most important things. The fork and sidearm.
little tip before you head off on your next trip, make a list of stuff you need and cross them off when you have them packed 🤣
i'll bet you the list will get longer with every trip hahaha
It has lol this is one of the first films I filmed.
See Jefe?? ALWAYS! BRING your H2O and emergency fanny pack... Glad you didn't get hurt, lost or otherwise! Congrats on your new channel! Still hope to see you on MORR now and then?!
Big Hugs and Happiness tonyou!!🙏😇🙋🏻♀️
glad to see you adventuring
that high roof of your trailor makes it quite unpractical!
Water is always a must! A lot of people do not make it out of canyons without water!
I like to think petroglyphs are just children being yelled at by their mom and dad to go play outside with chalk or something
😂😂
Wouldn't be difficult to modify the trailer so you can lower the tent part for travel.
CHECKLIST!!! Thank you for taking us along for the petroglyphs
Get some of those LED light strings to go around the inside of your trailer.
That’s a HAUNTED canyon! 😮
Could be a Sasquatch fallowing you? They are everywhere. Im Indigenous and we know there is a lot of this here on Mother Earth
Jefe you are a great camper. You eat very well. I have a question about your Bronco. Do you still have to after market spindles on the Bronco and if yes, how do they work.
Jefe 'Indiana' Jones the explorer!
Ya you need a list and keep your camping gear in one spot. Get two set ups . One for this and one for other trips
Just like the take of of your helicopter you need a check list to go on an adventure. Good luck stay safe .
need a camera guy? ive traveled cross country about every way possible, from thru-hiking the appalachain trail, kayaked source to sea down the Mississippi river, sailing, a little bit of rock climbing etc
Great video
More of a question than a comment. What brand, model and size of tires are you running on the Bronco in this video?
Thanks
That’s why I’m always packing mountain lions Coyote’s in breeding season they will come after you mountain lions will too
Great Video you are a natural
A compass is $2 at walmart, can come in handy.
Awesome 😎👍
You need figure out a way to lower and rase your tent on the trailer so it's more compact when pulling it and keep it stocked with the stuff you need.
Cool. Thanks Rhett.
This episode should be titled, "and I forgot the _______ too !!"
wear a toque with eyes on the back. the cougar thinks its your front and won't attack.
@johnchedsey1306 the growing population of males has forced them to make the swim. A sow and cubs were spotted this summer north of Campbell River.
great as always
Great content
thanks for the visit of some where I'll never get to, carry bear spray
