Since CBS deleted all the Letterman channel, I'm bringing this back. Ryan belongs to the universe. - Ryan Adams & The Shining - Starting to Hurt May 13, 2015 Late Show with David Letterman
+Michael Tapp if you mean the keyboard player in RA's band it didn't look like he was on mic. If you meant Paul Schaffer, it also didn't look like he was at his usual spot during the performance either. Still someone definitely dug it!
if you have the ability to bring this one back, could you bring back the Gimme Something Good performance on Letterman? That one disappeared not long ago.
It's a long way down, but I feel alright It's a long way down, but I feel alright And the cops get in, and the crowd gets tight Take your tomorrow, pain and your sorrow and teach it how to fly It's starting to hurt Starting to hurt Starting to hurt Starting to hurt It's a long way down, but I feel alright It's a long way down, but I feel alright And I hope you're here, when I hit the ground 'Cause I'm high on forever, always together, and I'm coming down It's starting to hurt Starting to hurt
Forget it man when they get his ex wife involved they lost their credibility. Name me one guy whose ex wife wouldn't talk shit about him after the fact.
I always loved how Dave was such a genuine fan of Ryan Adams. Every time he was on, Dave was a little giddy.
I love how Ryan just breaks out a total old song.....probably Dave made him feel super comfortable. I'm diggin' that PAX AM shirt on the drummer.
I love fanboy Dave! A phenomenal performance.
haha yeah RA and Mitch Hedberg...his faves!
Pro tip: watch movies on Flixzone. Me and my gf have been using them for watching a lot of movies lately.
@Roman Oscar Definitely, I've been using Flixzone} for months myself :D
Ryan Adams the greatest musician to ever live
Such a killer performance of this underrated song. Demolition overall is an underrated album in my eyes.
love how dave is the very first person to shout 'yeeeeaaaah!' when the song ends
playing this song in 2015 was a HUGE move....
What a great band he had at that time.
He loved being on the Letterman show. Love this performance!
That's the second time I've seen Letterman ask Ryan Adams & The Shining to play more, I dug the original & this kicked even more ass!
The comically big Fender amps are amazing!
Just listened to the album version from Demolition, his voice is getting even better!
Killer tune. Never heard this one. Simple. Moving. DRA strikes again.
"Ryan belongs to the universe." Yes.
Sounds better than 15 years ago - he needs to re-release this gem!
Reagan Miller Yep. Definitely!
Wouldn't that be something if he pulled some of his favorite songs and did some alternate takes.
Would absolutely love that. He certainly has a lot to choose from.
+Reagan Miller Definitely
Paul Arbuckle He wouldn't be able to keep up with orders if did that. It would be sooooo awesome.
CBS deleted the Letterman channel? That's a bit fucked.
Kurt Vile and Ryan Adams need to collaborate on an album together! Two of the coolest fucking dudes making amazing music together!
Still holds true! My favs!
Glorious - such a great band
He s sounds so much better doing this song than he did his first Letterman appearance.
The guitars are actually tuned this time

I know the pianist, Daniel Clarke. He's just such a nice guy, so sweet and just a great dude
Hear Dave's "yeah!" at 2:16, he dug it! Great performance of a top tune.
+stratmad I think it might be the keyboard player, but I want to believe it's Dave.
+Michael Tapp if you mean the keyboard player in RA's band it didn't look like he was on mic. If you meant Paul Schaffer, it also didn't look like he was at his usual spot during the performance either. Still someone definitely dug it!
Great job Charlie! ;)
always better live....nothing is better than the original.....
Was that Dave hooting in the background? God what a great performance.
If you go to 2:17 you can clearly hear David Letterman screaming an
exalted YEEEAAAH, CMON!
Thank you for posting this! Damn CBS!!
what a great pop song....love to compare this version with his original version on the show....
Why would they delete all the Letterman stuff?! Ugh. Thanks for reposting!
Grandioso.

What's happening with Ryan and his case? Miss the music but heard a horrendous podcast recently about his harrassment of women.
Forget it man when they get his ex wife involved they lost their credibility.

@@joelmiddaugh8229 its a genuine travesty.
Love his songs but don't you just want to cut that fucking fringe!!
+Mr C i agree but I don't think he can see where the scissors are.
