- The Mongoloid race of Nepal make up 1/3 of the
total population. Mongoloid certainly does NOT
mean people who migrated from ' Mongolia',
however certain ethnic group can relate to this
notion. Mongoloid race means people who have
distinct far eastern feature such as, slanted eyes,
high cheek-bones, few body & facial hair etc...
The List of ethnic group is according to their
population size.
Bon religion was the mother religion of Tibet before Buddhist came to Tibet but it is so interesting that lot of Nepal tribes had practiced this religion anyway happy to know about it .........

Nepal has a population of 30 million people , made up of over 40 different races and tribes . The two major groups in Nepalese society are Tibeto-Burmans, or Mongoloids from the north, and Indo-Aryans from the south. Many customs are inherited from both sides and have been developed by the influences of the land, climate and available resources.
The largest groups can be divided on the basis of geographical locations by altitude.
Indo-aryan is languages family not people. Pahadi chhetri are not indo-aryan but khas-aryans. Majority of chhetri are Iranian root people having ancient Kusan ancestory. That is why some chhetri has mongolied feature.

Yes many tamangs did serve in Gurkha regiment and so have the thakuris, Sherpas, damai, kami, chhetris etc, but I think those four clans mentioned in the video have contributed significantly larger number of men then any other ethnic group of Nepal.

Actually, the Tharu people were the first to settle in Nepal. Mongoloid groups immigrated later from parts of southeast China, and then Indo-Aryan groups immigrated from parts of Iran and North India after them.

1. Mongoloid (East Asian features) - Magar, Tamang, Gurung, Rai, Limbu, Sherpa, Sunuwar, Thakali, Ghale/Bhote, Chepang, Tibetans, etc. also some portion of Thakuri, Chhetris, Newars.
2. Aryan (North Indian features) - Bahun, Chhetri, Newars (mostly upper-caste), Sanyasi, Madhesis (mostly upper-caste)
3. Dravidian (South Indian features) and Australoid (mixture of Mongoloid) mixed - Tharus, Rajbanshis, etc. and some Madhesis (mostly lower caste),
Even then all of those population are mixed with each other in non-negligible (>10%) amounts.

Yes, Nepal is located in South Himalaya, so it comes to belong to South Asia geographically.
But their race is different from other South Asians.
@Taibuga Kuchum sherpa, bhotia feel closer with tibbetan. tenzing norgey sherpa was borned in tibbet, raised in nepal, later spent in india. they r concentrated along tibbet border. limboo, rai, sunuwar concentrated in eastern nepal, sikkim r kirati like Bodo, garo, rabha of assam. their culture is effected by indian to some extent. magar, gurung of central nepal r south tibbetan like arunachali. but came with contact with aryan from 500, 600 yrs ago who inhabited present uttarakhand to present far west nepal( same race) initially. it's tough question i think though I m actually nepali speaking indian.
I believe you should also be including northeast Indians , as they are not related or connected to indian culture (except some Assamese) and they look Asians . Include south east Asian as well

These days all the Mongoloid groups of Nepal are mixed. It had been happening for some a few decades ago itself. Many of the Tamangs and Gurungs for example already looked mixed. Some still looked like their ethnic self but are now mixing with other groups. Magars or Thapas are said to be Mongoloid but there are also Thapa Chettris.
The only group who have retained their purity are the Bahuns who have strict rules against intermarriages.
not all mongoloid groups are mixed. for example, limbus/sherpas/rais are pure mongoloid. gurungs/tamangs/magars yes are mixed with gangetic and khas people a bit, but not too much. you can think of gurungs and the other two as being 80% tibetan and 20% gangetic/khas. they're still mostly tibetan like but a little mixed. bahuns have some mongoloid ancestry as well. not too much but like 5-10% tibetan ancestry. chhetris are very mixed though.

Mongols of nepal probably migrated from Mongolia or burma. Magars are the descendants of mongol empire. When central asia was occupied by mongol kublai khan army some of them probably entered nepal from Tibet, a branch of magars also entered into sikkim from Tibet, they are classified as indigenous people of sikkim. Kirats entered from Easten part of nepal migrated from burma, written by iman Singh chemjong limbu . Some limbu live in east bhutan as well.
This is only few information about the mongoloid race people of Nepal...but we love every caste and culture of our country...in abroad it feels proud to say that we different types of people live together with peace and harmony 😊
