I like studying scripture by book and so does the pastor I follow, so for 2024 I will use one notebook for each book of the Bible. For years I would grab a notebook take notes in it and when it was full, start a new one. But the information was so random and had no structure. This year I was researching systems of organization and realized that having one notebook for each book of the Bible would keep everything together. It would also be easier to reference sermon notes and other study notes as I study on my own. This idea created a new excitement about studying more and being able to go back and find things.
I loved this video! I have SO many notebooks of studies I've done. I tend to remember better if I make actual notes or outline what I'm reading. But I dig them out, and think....What was this one? I've forgotten whatever I've written or most of it anyway. I'm searching for a way to make things stick, and stick so I will live it out in my every day life. Right now I'm using composition books--they are cheap--and they are easier to store. But again...I pull it out and forgot half of what I've written! And I love going deep in my studies. I'm like you, the commentaries just don't help me as much anymore. I want deep deep....like I'm an archeologist and I through the layers and layers!! I subscribed as I feel like we think alike!! God bless you!!
Bible Study is a personal journey to me. When I read the scriptures it becomes an adventure to asking questions and seeking revelation. It gives insight to what you need at that time. We will never get the whole of the Bible because His Word gives different meaning each time you read it. I simply enjoy note taking just to see if I get that same revelation.
Struggling with where to put all my Bible Study notes for future reference, so I really resonated with this video. Thank you! Thinking I might set up a 3 ring binder with a tab for each book of the Bible. Otherwise i have notes scattered across various journals. Really appreciating your videos, thank you!!!
This is awesome. Thank you for sharing! I’ve been contemplating my Bible study plan for 2024 and I’m leaning towards focusing on the New Testament for the first six months & following up with OT. I’ll be referring back to your video for ideas as I feel I get the jest of a book but then struggle to remember the details. Thanks again!!! ❤
I just did The Bible Recap for the past two years and loved it. (A reading through the Bible in a year chronologically along with a “recap” podcast). I loved it but it goes very fast. I’m looking to go slower this year. Preciously I worked on studying Jesus’ life in the Gospels chronologically. I think we will pick that back up this year. Just found your channel and look forward to more of your content.
I loved seeing your note format on your Bible journaling. I love commentaries but they are so expensive. I have the Parallel Commentary on the New Testament which is a collection of works by Charles Spurgeon, John Wesley and Matthew Henry. I like it but I dream with one of those "by book" commentaries. I use the Enduring Word app and love it as well. Thank you for sharing. This was very encouraging! 💗🙏☺️
The Zondervan Exegetical Commentary series is one of my tried and true commentaries from seminary. I loved that series! I still refer to it regularly. I also recommend the Baker Exegetical series. Similar, but touches on different things. For more language questions (Greek or Hebrew), I'd recommend the Word Biblical Commentary. They always include information about the textual apparatus in the Greek and Hebrew texts. Great video!
I know this aint the point, but that sure is a gorgeous Bible. My focus this year will be on Bible STUDY as well. Specifically, I'll be combing through the New Testament. Looking forward to it. Thank you for posting and for the inspiration.
I am literally trying to experience, so I am searching for the places mentioned, the current national plate, cooking and eating something National. I am taking biblical Hebrew and reading it slow. It is an experience, I am getting exposed to a lot I did not know.
I love your explanation with biblical theology. I want to work on this next year on Hermanuetics, and see how the nt authors interpret the Old Testament, and how the Old Testament authors interprets the Old Testament etc. I’m working on finding out what the authors message is to their own audience and how do we apply it in our own way as well. One commentary series I love is the Baylor on the Hebrew Text (haven’t looked at their series yet in the Greek New Testament), it really helps with learning about the Greek or Hebrew of the text, and if you haven’t learned Hebrew yet, the Jonah book is a great book to start 😊
A great book is pegan christianity !! Highlt recommend. It's his torah the right ruling and statutes and instructions. in my understanding that would be the practical theology. Our messiah repeatedly shared to gaurd and keep them for blessings and it is the way the truth and the life! I love to learn more and found the Olive Branch fellowship and almondhouse fellowship here on you tube during 2020. They are both good Olive branch fellowship is one of my favorites. They dig into to historical timeline and the hebrew language definition and meanings and Greek translation and goes into a deeper understanding of the word. Love that and I heard jacobs Tent Is also great.
I really like the idea of how you condensed your outlines it reminds me of how in schools they say you can bring in the index cards to help you on tests and it pushed you to get creative on how to fit information on it. I am very visual in my learning so I also use mapping techniques, and watching videos like the bible project on TH-cam to help me. Also books like Church History, I only was introduced to that book because I attended a Ministry school during a sabbatical year, so I all the books I needed for that I kept because they were very helpful, I think you can go on some school's websites and get a book list or even ask. A commentary that has helped was Wiserbes he has whole bible commentaries and also book by-books as well that have worked if you haven't heard or tried him. Do you use any digital resources? E-sword has helped me as well, along with when I verse map and do word studies, and also you can find some free commentaries on E-sword as well! Hey in a video I recently saw you do you were talking about how you are changing your reading plan to daily I believe New & Old Testament on certain days and Poetry / Wisdom on other days how is that going? Could you share a little more on that sometime in the future?
Thanks for the recommendations! I used a few digital resources but nothing like e-sword, logos, accordance, etc…maybe in the future. As for my reading plan, I’ll dive deeper into it once I get a better feel for it. Thanks for stopping by 😀
I love the idea of digging a little bit deeper in my Bible study. That’s my goal as well.

I love my KJV. The most beautifully written and honest.

Bible study is awesome
I've had this same Bible for a year now, and I LOVE it. I really feel like it's one of the best Bibles for deep thoughts and note taking.

A binder sounds like a great idea! 😀
Love this! Exactly the struggle I have and your ideas are great!

Try studying Strongs Concordance and studying certain words and where and how they are connected to other verses.

This is so in depth and impressive. Goals for me for sure! Thank you for taking the time to explain everything. I just found your channel.

Ooh! Thanks for the recommendations, I’ll have to check them out! 😀
You might enjoy the Complete Jewish Study Bible with the NT commentary. It reinstates the Hebraic names and nuances if yiu want to dig deeper.

Good to know! I haven’t gotten into Hebrew yet, but it’s a goal! 😀
