I am not Good man but i love the Lord and can tell when a man of God is speaking!! Lord please have mercy on my sinful soul! Please pray for me my friends! I tend to judge people just to make myself feel better its hard for me not to look at females certain ways even when I try not to but i can feel that the mighty Lord is working on me.

Read 1 Peter 2:11. I will pray for you and pray for me also, for all things that can lead us astray. We are not immune to temptation and are rather a target if we do not resist the devil so that he will flee from us. Do not give him an opportunity. Remember, fleshly lusts will lead to bondage and wars against your soul.

Let Him work brother, let Him work. in Jesus name let Him work, Amen. And no man is good in the eyes of the Lord for we ALL have fallen seriously short of the glory of the Lord. He just needs a willing heart, and if you are willing, He is abundantly able to deliver you. Stay in the word, read EVERYDAY keep your mind stayed on Jesus. Take captive EVERY thought. He did it for me and still there's more work to do on me. But I'm at least out of that dark, wet, cold and lonely pit and can now see sun. Have faith in God and read the bible...if you can withstand the pull, God will pull you through. And look on TH-cam for SNSS...Saturday Night Sunday School, every Saturday Night, huge help. Stay prayed up brother, it'll be alright.

Thank you for posting this video. My wife and I spent 20+ years in a church that used phrases like " what is this passage saying to you" and " that's your interpretation". We have always been hungry to study the word of God but no longer trust what we once thought God's word said.
This video, for a couple of old folks who never exceled in grammar, puts in in language that is easy to follow. The hard part will be to remember what a verb and noun look like lol.
Again I thank you so much for posting this video.

Pastor Voddie is such a blessing to listen to. He is so inspiring and pushes us to delve deeper into our faith to get closer to Jesus. I thank God for him and genuine people of God like him who stand on the word of God unapologetically and radically telling it like it is, not sugarcoating it one bit. Thank you, Jesus, for giving us an anointed person like Pastor Voddie in this day and age bold for your word. I pray you bless him abundantly and cover him even more for your kingdom and for us, the Christian church.

    • @ThHolyTrinity
      @ThHolyTrinity ปีที่แล้ว +2

This is primary, but not the sole option available to believers. But extensive bible study, research and findings on some commentaries help. Even though the Spirit is the primary teacher, we need to understand that we are not perfect and susceptible to false interpretations, which we may credit to the Holy Spirit.

    • @solideogloria7987
      @solideogloria7987 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

That's almost assuming you think God would give you the correct interpretation and no one else. We are flawed people who could miss what is plain in scripture. Others can help us see what we have missed or been wrong about, but scripture must always be examined to see if the interpretation of any passage comes from scripture itself. There are many godly people who may disagree on a certain passage and so we must search out scripture and compare what is said and see if it is so. It would be arrogant to assume every interpretation you have would not be flawed because we are still sinful people until the day we are called home. God does not only give you the Spirit to discern His word. All of His children are guided by Him and therefore we can learn from others what God has revealed in His word.

Grasping Gods word is good resource for this message
Goal when reading scripture is based off Two towns. Getting it from their town to our town
Step 1: grasp the text in their town
-What did the author communicate to his audience? -What did the text mean to the original audience?
*this is the time to observe
    Observe:
    -who is author?
    -Who is audience?
    -What’s the setting?
-What type of literature? Law narrative poetry apocalyptic -what is time period?
    -Cultural context?
Step 2: measure width of river to cross
-What are differences between biblical audience and us?
-Are their differences between that audience and me?
    -Doing analysis here.
Historical context and theological context covental context redemptive context
    Historical context
Step 3: cross river (principalizing bridge)
What is theological principal in text? (These are l timeless theological truths)
    This is interpretation
-What doctrines are we addressing in the text?
    -What are key passages?
-What do I know about these doctrines?
    Step 4 consult biblical map
-How does our theological principle fit with the rest of Bible?
****Must allow all of scripture to interpret scripture
Step 5 grasp text in our town
-How should christains today live out this theological principal?
    This gets us to
    APPLICATION (timeless theological truth)
What to look at at a sentence level??
    **** look for repeated words
    ***** contrasts comparison
    ***** lists
    **** cause and effect
    **** figures of speech
    **** conjunction (but God)
    **** verbs
    **** pronouns

Billy Graham has written a book on
How to Study the Bible, when he was young. I came by a copy when I was young.
That little book was a treasure, lost in all my moving- . I am curious if your teaching is influenced by Graham since you are Baptist also.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
    John 14:1-11
    King James Version
14 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.
5 Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?
6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.
8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, show us the Father, and it sufficeth us.
9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father?
10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake.

I feel the need to comment on this video. First, I’m reformed Baptist, at least for the most part 😂. I can’t help but think the vast majority of people would benefit from the niv or NLT for primary Bible reading/devotional reading etc. The disciples were unschooled and ordinary men, like most of us. Try explaining this study technique to a man with dirt floors. The scholar and serious Bible student like voddie (who also knows Greek and Hebrew) love the literal translations like esv and nasb. I’m thankful for knowledgeable men like voddie, however, all English translations tell you Jesus died for your sins and raised from the dead 3 days later. They all tell you that love fulfills the law. I spent most of my childhood with an nasb that I never read because I couldn’t understand it. I only toted it because it was “the most accurate”. Someone handed me an niv a few years back and I can’t put it down. It changed my spiritual life. I’ve read it hard cover to cover and understood the gospel it seemed for the first time. Sure there’s nuance in the nasb that you don’t get in the niv, but I was missing the main idea reading the nas! No harm intended toward voddie. Love his ministry and maybe the literal translation is best for his church. God bless all!

I gain so much knowledge, understanding, and wisdom from God delivered through Voddie. I love listening to him and I love the fact that he never puts the focus on him, but rather on God. I used to listen to John MacArthur a lot, but since he excommunicated Eileen Gray from Grace Community Church publicly for not staying with her husband David Gray who was abusing her children (and he's now sitting in prison of whom John MacArthur still supports) I cannot listen to him any longer. I'm so glad that Voddie does not appear to have any skeletons/scandals.
I'm going to have to go back and study what are verbs, pronouns, etc. It's been a long time since I was in school and I forget all the grammar rules 😂

I found myself buying a whole bunch of Bibles. I then realized that that I wasn't studying them. When I did study them, I was not looking at God's word so much. I wanted to sound smart more than I wanted to experience God. So, I gave a number of them away. I thought about which ones were the best in asking me questions. Answering those questions seemed to make me think. Sometimes the Spirit could come into my answers. One was a topical Bible, ehich can be found on the internet. It's much better in print. And I have a little text only NASB. It is God's Word and no interuptions.

The condition of our heart is what determines the way we receive the Word of God, not necessarily the methods or the teacher. The Parable of the Sower explains that…
““Listen then to what the parable of the sower means: When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in their heart. This is the seed sown along the path. The seed falling on rocky ground refers to someone who hears the word and at once receives it with joy. But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away. The seed falling among the thorns refers to someone who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, making it unfruitful. But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.”” (Matthew‬ ‭13‬:‭18‬-‭23‬ ‭NIV‬‬)

Voddie is speaking so much truth here its frightening, the simple truth of the matter is good biblical exegesis takes time, lots of studying and time, and historical seting is huge, and not just for the new testament times, as he mentioned genre too very important, as for study Bibles once again he hit a home run, its best to stay away from devotional bibles and go with factual or just expository bibles, and please stay away from any gender neutral bibles.

Gen.12626¶And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

Thank you so much for this video. To be honest, as a Christian, I've taken verses (like that of Jeremiah 29:11) just like pastor Bauchman said. Consequently, there have been episodes where I get lost when comparing what The Book says to what I actually experience. However, there is an increasing desire to approach the Bible similarly to -the Baptist approach, if I may say such a thing- Obviously, many questions arise, but I would like to ask: Could you please direct me towards what resources are helpful or what training courses should be taken so I can adequately start those studies. I really appreciate your help in this issue. May God keep blessing you in the name of Jesus Christ.

      1) The PRECIOUS TRUTH in attaining SALVATION/ETERNAL LIFE in the KINGDOM OF GOD are written in the HOLY BIBLE/KJV as TAUGHT and PREACHED by the GREATEST and WISEST TEACHER and PHILOSOPHER, and the ONLY PERFECT MAN who ever existed here on earth -- the LORD JESUS CHRIST/SON OF GOD.
      2) The BIBLICAL/SPIRITUAL TRUTH can NEVER be learned in schools, theological or whatever schools, as the LORD JESUS CHRIST/SON OF GOD was NEVER a learned MAN in schools. HIS DISCIPLES learned from HIM which the DISCIPLES WROTE -- THE NEW TESTAMENT containing the REVELATION of the TRUTH written by the Old Testament PROPHETS.
      2) Fact is, the greater the number of years spend by humans, especially men, in theological schools to study, the more they become as spiritual idiots that 1+1+1=1 or 1+1=1, can't comprehend simple grammar/singular and plural, and don't adhere and unresponsive to SOUND REASONING/LOGIC.

I'd say the best way to figure any of this out is maybe asking God about it first, and then if you still cannot interpret some verses within the Bible that can seem confusing, you may want to ask someone that has biblical knowledge about it (maybe a pastor) and see how they interpret it.

As far as eating goes you can eat anything . Go read romans 14 and I also think Colossians 2:16 (think but somewhere around there )you’ll read that you can pretty much eat anything . We are not under the law we are justified by faith in Christ not in keeping the law .

    1. Read Deuteronomy 2. Research that the Catholic Church added the Babylonian/Jewish books to the Israelites Torah and their “New Testament”. 3. Choose whom you will serve.

I like to ask this pastor a question if I can. To be saved do you think everyone needs to study the bible? Why I ask is back in time anywhere before 1900 hundreds people would go to churches and listen to their pastor and what ever they were taught was all they knew, most people didn't know how to read or write. So my question would be all those millions people back in history that couldn't read how were they saved if they didn't study the bible? ... And, yes I know one must believe in Jesus for salvation but I believe their a passage in the bible that state after you become a believer you must also act upon it meaning to tell others about the gospel of Christ

My hardest hurdle to studying is how much and what to study in a methodical manner. For example, do I just pick a book and start with a few verses at a time? Do I try and study the book as a whole? Do I just take a few verses, cross reference them with other parts of the Bible and historical writings? I find my self just reading from the beginning of the NT then to the OT and then back through the NT and then the OT over and over again, which is great but I haven't learned how to learn more efficiently and I'd like to take my knowledge to the next level. I have such a love for reading the Word but I want to bathe in it not just dip my hand in if that makes sense.

The importance of multiple translations should be replaced with instruction on using a concordance to understand the meaning of the infallible original text. Knowing how to do this is crucial in learning how to study the Bible. "Readability," isn't close to the importance of accuracy. Otherwise VB is great as always.
