Chinese calligraphy is about discovery of yourself. A couple weeks ago I taught a class and used the most cheapest horrid brushes ever, and boy did I complain!! Then I realized at the end it wasn't about the brush. It was about my unwillingness to relax and use what was available to me to create. Start slow and work your way up to good brushes and paper. Explore. Many regards, from Canada
@@appletvaccount1364 Advanced? Are you trolling or just blissfully uneducated? Only one or a few characters of Chinese writing is needed to make a very descriptive and beautiful poetry without crowding the entire page with a string of letters and long sentences. For example, 春 means "spring" with just using one Chinese character instead of 6 separate letters. Chinese writing, and it's derivatives like Kanji in Japanese and Hanja in Korean, can encode SO much more information in a few characters than typing out long sentences to say the exact same thing: (4 characters) A sea of people (12 letters)
This is so freaking gorgeous. The way they control the thickness of the lines with the pressure of the brush is just amazing…. seems like it’d take so much practice!
some background info for those interested: Lanting Xu or Preface of the Orchid Pavilion is a famous piece of calligraphy by Wang Xizhi written in 353 CE. It's among the best-known and most often copied pieces of calligraphy in Chinese history and is revered as the best running calligraphy. However, Emperor Tai Zong took the original to his grave, so all we have are the traced/copy/engraved versions smh

Japanese people are so polite, interesting, clean and positive.....but also, very poetic. I haven't been to Japan yet, but feel a pull on my heart to move there permanently. 🙏
I find it fascinating to watch the artistry of writing it must take a long time to fully master the art of writing especially in the old language. In one way you could say it is fluid, the way the brush elegantly glides with each stroke of the brush.
As a foreigner Living in Japan I use Chinese characters when writing Japanese but because I almost all the time use a computer or smartphone and hardly handwrite my characters balance is overall shaky. I wish I could shape my characters as perfectly as shown! Truly beautiful and calming!!

Never in my life will my writing ever be this beautiful.
Only if you can add something special to the meaning. Then it’s value is priceless.

It just takes practice and not accepting doing it incorrectly. Just a few years …
if you tell yourself that then it never will

I thought the same thing. Chinese calligraphy is beautiful and so soothing to watch. It usually be wonderful to have such a talented skill.
