He doesn't pretend that he's always right, nor does he expect that others agree with him. He doesn't denigrate or otherwise attack those with other views. His knowledge seems to be focused on what can be characterized in lab studies, and I've seen him invitee interviewees to fill the gap in his knowledge using their applied experiences in their fields of practice. I can't say much more about this slight because it isn't clear what it is. It would be helpful to describe what the disagreement is and why it is so offensive. It sounds like a friend got disagreed with but didn't voice his alternative view. Maybe the issue is one of developing the ability to voice differing experiences and opinions without antagonism.

1:33 🍚 Not all nutritional information is accurate, and claims like "eating rice is the same as eating sugar" can be misleading. 3:41 💪 Experience and application are crucial in debunking false claims, especially in fields like martial arts and nutrition. 7:56 🤥 Be cautious of sensational claims backed by insufficient evidence, such as those regarding fasting and hormonal changes. 11:45 🥋 Comparison between dubious claims from individuals like Huberman and the Liver King highlights the need for skepticism and critical thinking. 19:46 🥚 Extreme dietary practices, like consuming raw eggs, can pose health risks and may not be worth pursuing for aesthetic goals.
Andrew has NEVER claimed that anything besides exogenous hormones double or triple testosterone or growth hormone. Chael is apparently just a shitty listener if he’s apparently watched “50” videos of his and came to this Bryce Mitchel-esque conclusion. Anyway, I’ve tried some of his recommendations and I have definitely found some benefit from them, especially the cold showers, which I don’t do everyday but feel a significant difference when I do.
The problem with Huberman is that morons don't actually listen. Before giving advice he literally says "Don't listen to me listen to your doctor, do the bloodwork, let them tell you which is best" but folks only watch TH-cam Shorts lol that's why nobody needs to defend huberman, because the goal isn't some silly vitamin hocking it's science literacy. the problem is, there are TH-cam channels who take short clips of huberman and claim in the title, that "you can triple your T levels when doing this" and guys like sonnen are to dump, to differenciate between the channels
Actually he did. He said turkesterone has equivalent effects to deca. He says it with full confidence without mentioning the fact that there has only been a couple of studies done on rats. Absolutely disguising coming from a scientist who should know better.

I didn't watch Huberman's video about these claims about increasing testosterone and growth hormone but, I think he meant that this increase can be observed right after the sauna (for example) and for a short period of time. In that case, it could be possible, even though these effects probably will not translate into a significant increase in muscle growth. Chael has good points though :D
Shots fired! Chael not letting random fitness youtubers get close. I'm here for this. 🍿 Looking for an amateur wrestle-off with C-Bum. Maybe the only way this could be topped.

As far as I understand it , Dr. Huberman is only interpreting these studies for us. His specialty is in ophthalmology. There are good studies and bad studies. A single study is not helpful if it is not reproducible. You also have to look at the population in the study. I am guessing in the study that they were not wrestlers. Since wrestlers are very well conditioned I suspect there is not much room for their testosterone and growth hormone to increase through physiologic methods alone. I believe Chael is not comparing apples to apples in this case.
@@oliverqueen1853 it's a pattern as old as time. The main conundrum for me is elite wrestlers (athletes) don't represent the general masses. But if a general person followed this protocol starting to move towards being an athlete they may very well have a doubling of testosterone especially if they weren't eating correctly. I would be curious what the avg test of an elite athletic population vs in general. It's well known testosterone has been plummeting in general. I like the challenging conversation.
Chael, do a piece on the video that surfaced of Khamzat Chimaev driving for Uber. Do UFC fighters, especially stars like Khamzat, really have to do work like that? I'd understand a preliminary fighter having to do that, but seeing a big-name guy driving for Uber was surprising to me. I thought Dana would pay his stars enough to be able to support themselves strictly through their UFC earnings.
1:33 No Chael. You may have been told that in college but this is pretty well known nutritional science today. Long chain carbohydrates get broken down into glycogen. Glycogen goes to the muscle cells. Much more difficult to be stored as fat in excess. Sucrose (sugar) is 50/50 glucose/fructose. Once your liver runs out of space to store fructose it is stored as fat. “High fructose corn syrup” is around 55/45 fructose/glucose. I may be slightly off on some of that but generally I’m right. Most nutritionists worth their salt understand 100 calories of rice is not the same as 100 calories of sugar. They may be the same number of calories and close in macronutrients but they are not digested and stored the same at all. Caloric surplus and deficits still apply. You can lose weight eating just sugar if you’re at a deficit. You can also gain weight eating zero sugar if you’re at a caloric surplus.
As is often the case with Chael, clearly didn’t listen to Huberman at all (at least in the case of his MPMD vs Andrew Tate, he admitted as much). You can give Chael partial credit if you want to for the fact that the protocol that showed this isn’t one most people will follow. You have to do repeat sauna 20 in 5 out, repeated like 3 times, which is going to take 75 minutes, and the testosterone levels will spike, but not really sustain. Huberman says at that time, and other guests he’s had (Andy Galpin, Layne Norton) confirmed, that returns on this will diminish if repeated, and actual physiological effects (ie, results in muscle gain) will likely be minimal if apparent at all. The fasting is intermittent fasting (because he’s never talked about prolonged fasts) and if I remember correctly (which I might not) was that the gains in testosterone were fairly minimal. Finally, Huberman has talked about how extreme training (ie the training of basically every wrestler), will lower testosterone (acutely) and operating at extreme caloric deficits (again every in season wrestler) can lower your testosterone production. Also, wrestlers are using the sauna to dehydrate, and all of the benefits are about acutely stressing the system and then recovering to “normal” which would involve rehydrating. So no, wrestlers are not following these protocols. Protocols, that again, were never claimed to be equivalent to the use of TRT or just straight up super physiological steroid use in terms of muscle growth. I will say, Huberman doesn’t always contextualize every finding he talks about perfectly, (he does contextualize a lot, but to do so any more than he does, would make him unlistenable). Also, hilarious how late Chael is to game in commenting on any of this. The sauna episode has to be at least a year old. Same for fasting. And comparing Huberman with the Liver King? GTFOH
You are very entertaining Chael but you forget that Huberman always says what he is saying is a summary of the research that has been done by other people. He is basically doing book reports and sharing what someone elses book says so that we we don't have to read all of the books. That is very different from lying about things and making claims based on his own thoughts. Most of your arguments are well out of context btw. That being said, I will keep listening to your stuff because you are a great performer and my job can get boring.

Huberman needs to do an episode about how Chael never lost a round. The peer reviewed literature is never ending on that subject.
To be very honest if you listened to this from start to finish it’s easy to understand the message is. Chael is right about Huberman. He speaks about the best possible result in the research and presents it like it’s possible for the general public. Hence he’s the Aikido teacher that speaks about how you can beat anyone with the perfect technique, but never mentions that you can never do the perfect technique in an actual fight.
What research? There’s not a single study showing that cold showers quadruple T levels.
Only Chael can go off on a 23 minute diatribe that has several different tangents and end his rant with, "Period."
Chael tried to debunk Huberman and 100 other scientists by saying “i was a wrestler” lmao😂
If it wasn't for science, wrestlers would still be trying to drop 20 lbs in a weekend thinking that won't hinder their performance. Lol
@@jaamallseriously bruh😂 they act like starving themselves and squeezing every ounce of water out of their body is gonna help them somehow, you’re better off with small cuts for performance in a match, and his examples of sauna and fasting are just plain wrong, they’re not implementing any of it in a wholistic way, it’s all focused on the very next match and that’s it, they rarely look past what’s right in front of them, when THE REST OF YOUR LIFE is staring you in the face you go at all those things with a different attitude, you do those things in a way that is better for you long term
@@notthed0d791 idk about you but i wrestled thru high school, and my school ain't have no sauna lol
@@jaamall we didn't have a Sana either but when it's 110° outside and you crank the heater up on high in a small room with plastic rain gear taped on over your hoodie and sweatpants to cut weight the week prior to a tournament worked very well at cutting water weight. Soon as we weighed in and we could rehydrate by the time it was to get on the mat the majority of us felt fine. Granted some struggled and some would choose to wrestle at a heavier weight to reduce the cut and when they found a good weight to wrestle at that allowed them to recoup after weighing in they were good.
you do realize that neuroscience and psychology is hardly science right?
Chael will not let Huberman get close.

This honestly comes across as an over-reaction. He's not my favourite podcaster, and I sometimes think that he speaks too confidently , but A. Huberman simply shares what he knows.
Love this - Hubberman sent me flags when he said his sauna was 260° F

Kudos for exposing Andrew Huberman. For every person criticizing you for exposing him, their are 10 who agree with you. Andrew Huberman is not an athlete, not a body builder, not an andrologist, not a doctor, not a clinician, and has no formal training in any medical or clinical field. He also pedals supplements which of course we know don’t work, especially on the brain, and yet he’s promoting “nootropics” …

I love how he quotes and complements his home economics teacher from west linn high 1993 😂
Y'all can hate on nerdy ass huberman all u want but the rat studies prove u wrong
the problem is, there are TH-cam channels who take short clips of huberman and claim in the title, that "you can triple your T levels when doing this"
and guys like sonnen are to dump, to differenciate between the channels
Actually he did. He said turkesterone has equivalent effects to deca. He says it with full confidence without mentioning the fact that there has only been a couple of studies done on rats. Absolutely disguising coming from a scientist who should know better.

I didn't watch Huberman's video about these claims about increasing testosterone and growth hormone but, I think he meant that this increase can be observed right after the sauna (for example) and for a short period of time. In that case, it could be possible, even though these effects probably will not translate into a significant increase in muscle growth. Chael has good points though :D

So many hilarious points in this. The viciousness of the backhands are unparalleled. "I wanted to help the Liver King, greasy disgusting weirdo that he is....."
It's a trend recently to attack Huberman. Sonnen's timing is on point.
I feel like ive seen more people going after him recently but I can’t remember. Would you mind listing them?

The main conundrum for me is elite wrestlers (athletes) don't represent the general masses. But if a general person followed this protocol starting to move towards being an athlete they may very well have a doubling of testosterone especially if they weren't eating correctly. I would be curious what the avg test of an elite athletic population vs in general. It's well known testosterone has been plummeting in general. I like the challenging conversation.
You don't know that'd be true either
Chael, do a piece on the video that surfaced of Khamzat Chimaev driving for Uber. Do UFC fighters, especially stars like Khamzat, really have to do work like that? I'd understand a preliminary fighter having to do that, but seeing a big-name guy driving for Uber was surprising to me. I thought Dana would pay his stars enough to be able to support themselves strictly through their UFC earnings.
The story was faked. You're the reason no one likes casuals

No Chael.
You can also gain weight eating zero sugar if you’re at a caloric surplus.
what is Chael referring to here? Did they do a podcast or something?
He claims to be sober " no one liked a quitter "...... Brutal
LOL that's an old one that's the joke among addicts when you have Around our Sober buddies they all made fun of you and call you a quitter!!
I'm torn because Huberman is clearly a charlatan, but Chael is scientifically illiterate.
a lot of what Chael said huberman said isn’t true. He never said increase testosterone by 4x he said by percentiles.
GTFOH
Audio doesnt work for me?
You are very entertaining Chael but you forget that Huberman always says what he is saying is a summary of the research that has been done by other people. He is basically doing book reports and sharing what someone elses book says so that we we don't have to read all of the books. That is very different from lying about things and making claims based on his own thoughts. Most of your arguments are well out of context btw. That being said, I will keep listening to your stuff because you are a great performer and my job can get boring.
