Most people would have gone through quite a large portion of their savings, if not all of it, after the quarantine. It will take a while before they could save up again in my opinion. Either that or they don't trust the CCP's statistics. Fear is still in the air.
I feel terrible for the workers who struggle to make money selling food through this pandemic.& its a terrible feeling that this virus had scared everyone off & left businesses stale. You just don't get anyone coming back anymore & it's really the biggest downturn that took effect to everyone's jobs.
This is why I say businesses will either be shut down completely or reformed in a way to not need so many employees. This is going to be the black swan event that changes our whole economy 😩

Those first images of Beijing malls is very misleading. Malls which are open, are not as crowded as before, but still have alot more people than this clip shows. I was out and about yesterday. Things looked far from normal, but not as bad as portrayed here. If you're not recovering very well as a food/beverage business here, it just means other f&b businesses are doing better than you are. People here mostly have their meals out, and they are tired of having meals at home for the past 2 months. And when restaurants do announce they're open, people would rather go to places where they can be a bit more assured about the hygiene standards.
Once the peak of contagion has passed people will continue, perhaps permanently when possible, to work from home. Literally hundreds of thousands travel to visit friends or family. At the time that they all left, the virus was already known about, so they were scattered all over the world for two weeks, some of them undoubtedly already infected. They're "claiming" a few cases a day, but saying they're all from "outsiders" bringing it in... not from actually catching it in Wuhan, which is highly unlikely. They did admit to one acquired locally to sound somewhat credible, but I haven't found one epidemiologist who thinks that scenario is even remotely possible, considering all the carnage after they returned.. I've found stories that 21 million cell phone accounts have been terminated, and I've seen videos of numerous large trucks carrying nothing but cremation urns to mortuaries or coroners... thousands of them. There's also a recorded phone call from a woman who directs a crematorium, and she was highly agitated, saying they didn't have enough cars to pick up all the bodies, and they were burning several hundred bodies a day, they were working double shifts, and she was totally burned out. This all suggests the number of dead is way higher than what was reported.
