1980s tech. Imagine what they are waiting to reveal and are on the books for possible 1930s era situation. Start building, probably have 50 to 100 ready, but imaging what they have we don't know
that we are told about, I would be willing to bet money there are aircraft that we have that are WAAAAAYY faster/more agile/stealthy but they are not in mass production and as such we never see. In all reality, the F-22 is a 1980's plane, think about that.
They don't even perform the same role... F-22 is air superiority fighter that was supposed to take the roles of F-15, and F-35 is a general multirole fighter platform that shares it roles with kinds of F-16 and A-10 but also has variants that can land and take off from aircraft carriers or even amphibious warships with VTOL. F-35 has some newer technologies embedded to it like network-based ops system that F-22 cannot carry.
The f-22 got a 300 miles + range and the they intercepted SU_bs Russian planes trying to fly over Canada those SU planes were dead that's why they shit themselves and left Canadian airspace
So just imagine the technology they got now, the F-22 Raptor was designed in late 80's early 90's and the first F-22 Raptor flight was in 1997 that's 25 years ago.

I’m amazed by the comprehensive continuity of the aviation engineering developments over the decades that have culminated in these unique and incredibly capable military attack and fighter jets. Such endeavors often suffer from changing political climate, contractors seeking to gouge government procurement programs, incompetence of key players, etc. But these planes made it through all the morass and stand at the pinnacle of military aviation. Seeing this aircraft in person is an crazy experience to see. It’s so loud and it’s ability for it to manuever is insane. It puts the f35 to shame in all aspects.
"All aspects"? Spoken like a dunce that knows nothing aside from "ooo look shiny and LOUD go boom, big power fast!" The F-35 is by far more versatile, and capable of performing air-to-air, air-to-ground, and electronic warfare missions. Making it more flexible and adaptable compared to the F-22, which is primarily designed for air-to-air combat. The F-35 boasts superior advanced sensor fusion capabilities, allowing it to integrate data from various sensors (radar, infrared, etc.) into a comprehensive picture of the battlefield. Enhancing situational awareness and decision-making for the pilot. It is also designed to be a node in a network-centric warfare system, enabling it to share data and collaborate with other aircraft, ships, and ground forces in real-time. Meaning better coordination and effectiveness in complex operations. The F-35's single-engine design simplifies maintenance and reduces operating costs compared to the F-22's twin-engine configuration. With its versatility and affordability, the F-35 has been adopted by several countries, ensuring a wider global presence and interoperability with allies. Some other advantages over the F-22 include improved stealth, incorporating advanced stealth technologies, enhanced survivability with advanced electronic warfare systems and defensive countermeasures, and ease of operation, as it is designed to be user-friendly and easier to operate than the F-22, reducing pilot training time and costs. While the F-22 may win in a couple raw performance and power numbers, the F-35 is miles and above the superior aircraft.
D-Day in 1944 gets the most focus for obvious reasons, but its success was enabled by the air war that had gone on shortly before. As it came to be known, "Big Week" (20-25 February, 1944) was a massive air combat and bombing campaign that crippled Germany's aviation industry and Luftwaffe. The German combat doctrine sent their most experienced pilots on missions, whereas the Americans constantly rotated their experienced pilots out of combat and back to train new pilots. In this way, combat experience was preserved and passed along to fresh pilots. Big Week saw the Luftwaffe lose 30 percent of its pilots and 90 percent of its flyable aircraft. Coupled with other strategic bombing to isolate Normandy from German forces, Big Week set the stage for D-Day and is why there was minimal Luftwaffe presence on 6 June.
That's not true. Super cruising is sustained supersonic flight without using afterburners.. So basically if jet engines can fly over Mach 1 without the aid of afterburners then that's super cruise. Right now only 4 fighter jets can achieve this, F22 is not the only one! The Eurofighter Typhoon, Dassault Rafale and Saab JAS-39e Gripen can too. Edit: each plane has a supercruise top speed, Apparently the F22 and Typhoon can do Mach 1.5 , Rafale 1.4, And Saab 1.1 . And there were jets that could do it in the past like the English Lightening and a few prototype US jets like F-16XL .
@@danimayb First off, the lighting doing it is a matter of definition. The US Air Force had this defintion: supercruise was defined as "the ability to cruise at speeds of one and a half times the speed of sound or greater without the use of afterburner for extended periods in combat configuration."[2] By that defintion, the Raptor is the only one. The weapons being held internally is a MASSIVE advantage. Putting weapons and drop tanks etc. on planes is a massive drag on the plane. When you have a real world loadout, then you can do it perhaps with the Tyhoon, however with missiles, etc. you don't succeed in the ..."for entended periods, in combat configuration" part. If you don't fit the bill, change the defintion, guess. Once again, by US Air Force definition, none of the planes you mention fit the bill. The Raptor does. The cutoff by that defintion is Mach 1.5. The Raptor can attain Mach 1.8 without afterburners. The Rafale can attain Mach 1.4 without afternburners. The Typhoon can attain somewhere betweeen Mach 1.2 to 1.5 (which would qualify it at the top end if that number didn't drop with weapons loadout). So, I know people want to pretend, but the Raptor is still by itself in this regard. It is capable of Mach 1.8 with a real world weapons loadout. Easily number 1...by a wide margin.
The good thing is that the ones they're retiring are apparently not made for combat. They're only training models and would be very expensive to get ready for combat. I was sad to hear it too but this made it make more sense to me. The ngad is coming a lot sooner than expected as mentioned above and that is gonna be a game changer. We just need to not let that technology be stolen.
The stories I’ve heard about this masterpiece are chilling. Something along the lines of the best pilots not even being able to react fast enough in other jet models (I wanna say they were using the F-15) and one guy had a F-22. In the sim he smoked ALL of them and none of them saw him till AFTER he had a confirmed KIA. Crazy crazy shit that all that advanced tech can do to enhance a pilots effectiveness
Everybody goes to the SU-27. Get it right. The SU-27 was built in response to the F-15 and they are pretty evenly matched. The F-22 was built in response to the Sukhoi Gen 4 and 4.5 jets, like the SU-33 and especially the SU-35S, which is still a threat today in 1v1 WVR fights. The latest block SU-35S has the same omni-directional thrust vectoring nozzles that it's had for decades (the Raptor only has bi-directional), new avionics, and AESA (Active Electronic Scanned Array) radar, similar to the Raptor and Lightning II. The SU-57 was built in response to the F-22 and the F-35. In fact an engineer at Sukhoi, when asked why they had jumped from 35 to 57, made the joke that it was "because 22 + 35 is 57", referring to the F-22 and F-35.

Remarkable aircraft, although I personally liked the profile and performance of the YF-23 Black Widow much better. Test pilots for the 23 unanimously remarked how much faster it was than the 22 by a whole other order of magnitude, reportedly not even close - still top secret to this day. Absolutely amazing tech either way.
No, no, and no. Yes the YF-23 DID out perform the -22 in a couple areas...but not by much and both airframes more than met the AF requirements. There were no 'orders of magnitude' differences in any of the testing except perhaps weapons delivery where the YF-22 held the high ground as it was able to fire missiles where the YF-23 could not. Same thing for the engine competition: the GE DID out perform the P&W in a couple areas...but again by a small margin and both met all requirements that had been set forth. (disclaimer: I worked at P&W on the 5000 engine/nozzle and readily admit to my bias) In the end it's good to always remember that the Air Force would rather have improvement rather than innovation. The F-22 under the skin is a relatively conventional build where the YF-23 was breaking new ground and when billions of their precious budget are at stake...the proven technology will usually get the nod. Same for engines where the GE used an unconventional cycle while the P&W is very familiar to anyone used to jets and won the competition because we worked long and hard making it as simple and foolproof to maintain as possible. This sounds like it should be the norm...but that's not the case and many jets are a pain in the ass to work on. The maintainers vote went pretty much universally for the P&W from the reports we got back at the plant despite early bragging from GE that they were winning.

Nonetheless, there's no denying the sheer brilliance and technical mastery behind this aircraft's design and performance. 🌟🛫💫"
As a former Air Force member, I love what the F-22 can do. No doubt it is a "beast". I would have liked to have seen the F-23 to be added to the inventory. Ditch the F-35. That's a system that is just way too expensive and it's full of flaws.
If I recall correctly, the X(F)-22 and the X(F)-23 were in competition for the same contract, whereas the X(F)-35 was in competition with the X-32. They had completely different requirements to meet. The former were designed for air superiority and the latter for multi-role capabilities including VTOL.
The F-22 will always be the king of aerial combat and air superiority, in my opinion. Its gorgeous and lethal. Its raw power doesn't overshadow its ability to dance like a ballerina in the sky, a sledgehammer wearing pointe shoes, if you will. Every time I would see one resting in a hangar on base I would get goosebumps because I knew that the moment that beast woke up someone's world was about to be turned upside-down.
I have been lucky enough to see the f22 fly at the air show back in 2009 or 2010 I think it was. And all I can say it’s the f22 team of pilots know how to put on a great show and the f22 can do things that make you think wow I’m so glad it’s our plane😀😀

Great plane. It's also been out of production for quite some time now making sourcing replacement parts expensive. It also can't network due to its outdated avionics compared to the F-35. The RAM on this plane is also prone to deterioration. That's something that was addressed in the F-35. It isn't as stealthy as the F-22, but has significantly better sensor fusion. And yes, it still has some significant bugs to work out due to the high complexity of its various electronic systems
Small correction, the F-35 is actually the more stealthy of the two. And the bugs have pretty much been worked out of the F-35 already. It's been working well for a while now. What surprises me is you still have bigdummies in comments sections like these that think the F-22 is the better aircraft, as if dogfights still matter anymore. Dogfights don't matter if you never even see your opponent, let alone get close enough to make swirling around in the air effective. It's all about who can detect the other first now and get a missile lock, even if it's miles away or even beyond the horizon.
Tbh I prefer the F-22 over F-35, despite the performance difference. Probably because Starscream was an F-22 in live action Transformers. Also probably the reason why I have a soft spot for the F-15 too, as that’s what he was back in the 1980s.
From other mini-docs I’ve watched, we (the general public), don’t even know it’s full capabilities. Even when doing exercises with allied partners, the pilots are instructed to purposefully not use its full potential. Leading to extra training hours for the pilots after these exercises to make sure they didn’t pick up any bad habits. It’s crazy!

The Rock may be physically superior to me in every aspect, but if I can see him through a scope over a km out and he can't see me as I put a .50 cal round through his chest, who is the better soldier? Similarly the F35 excels in versatility with its multi-role capabilities, sensor fusion, and network connectivity, while offering lower production costs, single engine simplicity, and global presence. These advantages make it a compelling choice for modern air forces, though the F-22 still boasts superior speed, maneuverability, and payload capacity for specific needs. The F-22's superiority in these areas however is quickly being replaced by advanced missiles that don't require a pilot at all, if not already.

Both are great. But the F-22 is the king when it comes to air superiority. F-35 is a multi-role fighter, aka jack-of-all trades.
They don't even perform the same role... The F-35 is by far more versatile, and capable of performing air-to-air, air-to-ground, and electronic warfare missions.

I wouldn’t say that
What a gorgeous plane!
Now I know why in Vietnam they kept all the pilots they shot down. They're the most valuable thing we have in the service.

This is the only fighter in the world that can truly super cruise, fly at speeds greater than Mach 1.5 without the use of afterburner.
pretty sure the old English electric lightning could supercruize
@@michealgray533 Below mach 1.5 isn't supercruise it's just supersonic.
Mach4?!.
Supersonic,
Ultra sonic
@@danimayb First off, the lighting doing it is a matter of definition. The US Air Force had this defintion: supercruise was defined as "the ability to cruise at speeds of one and a half times the speed of sound or greater without the use of afterburner for extended periods in combat configuration."[2]
By that defintion, the Raptor is the only one.
The f-22 has to be the best air superiority fighter made to date.

We just need to not let that technology be stolen.

I have one parked in my garage. I love it!
The Russian fighters are nothing more than flying coffins. Their avionics are at least 40 years behind what is found in the F-35.

I was part of the Boeing Team that Built the airframe! Beautiful tech!
(disclaimer: I worked at P&W on the 5000 engine/nozzle and readily admit to my bias)
In the end it's good to always remember that the Air Force would rather have improvement rather than innovation.
This is definitely the sexiest aircraft design the world has ever seen.

As a former Air Force member, I love what the F-22 can do. No doubt it is a "beast". I would have liked to have seen the F-23 to be added to the inventory. Ditch the F-35. That's a system that is just way too expensive and it's full of flaws.
The F-35 isn't that expensive. 80 million per. That is almost half the cost of an F-22. It also costs a lot less to maintin than the F-22.

I still think this is the best jet in the world and probably will be for a long time. It's a shame we wasted money on the F35 instead of this jet. Only a 187 of them made when they wanted over 300. If we would have got them 300. I don't think we would have F35s now. Or maybe we would for Amphibious assault ships because of vertical take off and landing.
Wasted money? Please educate yourself. The F35 is by far the better aircraft.
@@johnjingleheimersmith9259 I see your point. F22 can be set up for upgraded missiles right? So it kinda evens the playing field. As for other aircraft that isn't stealth. Once in close range dog fights. I don't think it has no advantages. I would like to see a F35 vs upgraded F-15. Without all the high tech stuff. I think that would be interesting. Also don't get me wrong. I appreciate each and every member of the US air force. I think US has and will hold the top air force for a while to come. I personally think they should go to all the member and design an aircraft the pilots want. I'm not saying its bad to other nations. I just don't think it could take an F22. Which I could be wrong. I wonder if they ever ran against each other? I think we could have put a little extra money towards building a 6th generation aircraft. Considering China, Russia and other countries are building 5th gen aircraft as well. I mean we spend 80 billion on black projects. That was years ago. Maybe even more now.
@@johnjingleheimersmith9259 Also you even said it yourself. It's a multirole fighter. Which the F22 is an air superiority fighter. So to say I need to educate myself is absurd.
@@knowledgegaming8437 Yes the F35 is a multirole fighter, meaning it can do far more things than the F22 can do aside from dogfights, which has been proven to be an obsolete paradigm on the modern battlefield. By and far the F35 is a far superior fighter that would take the F22 in any fight as it would SEE the F22 and the F22 wouldn't see it before it is too late. So no we didn't waste any money on the F35. And last point, you mentioned we should have put money toward 6th gen craft instead, which seems to indicated you are ignorant that we have already designed, created, and flown our own 6th gen fighter already. This is widely known. So yes, my comment on educating yourself still stands.
Just perfect with every single detail
My favorite plane of all time! Beautiful and amazing. Should have never stopped production. Huge mistake!
I think with the help of the F-35 in standardizing the technology, it may bring the price point down and get us back on track to continue production.
@@way2sh0rt07grad amen!
@@way2sh0rt07grad I met a pilot who flew it. I was on top of the world! I could not have met an actor or actress in my life that could make my day but him! Guy was so down to earth and got his autograph and poster that he signed!
Makes me wish I was a kid again
Man I hope Russia keeps provoking US pilots around Syria so the F-22 can finally get some action.
The kid will eat before they retire him.
Some say the kid has eaten already and we're just not allowed to know.
😂😂😂man that thing different ppl keep comparing it to su 57 but it's in its own class the 57 probably compare to a f15 😂😂
Give peace a chance.
@@ArthurX-eg8bc Tell that to Russia
@@ArthurX-eg8bc I'd rather give a raptor pilot a chance to spread his wings.
Peace is a pipe dream. It will never exist. Humanity has been at war since the beginning. We will be at war until the end. May as well hope to see the really cool stuff in action before we all inevitable die.
I remember when i was a kid, F 22 was unbelievable to most
One of the most impressive wastes of money on the planet
Making a weapon so good that you never have to use it because none of your declared enemies wanna get risk getting hit by it, is probably the best use of money in developing a weapon ever seen.
The whole point is to prevent wars from happening at all.
That's it's role is called 'Air DOMINANCE'.
Like a nuclear weapon. 😐
I use that Helmet for Mountain-biking to help me with situational awareness. And one the plus side it's really comfy.
Not cheap by any means, but worth every penny.
The F22 -- The most expensive balloon popper in the world.
Suchoi is most impressive and most powerful JF I ever seen, 👌👌👌
this plane is on the top of food chain on this planet.
Apesar de eu ser fã do F-16, o F-22 é meu preferido! Parabéns pelo vídeo! Muito legal!
