I dont think Randy Dowdy understands the problems midwest and blackland farmers have. We dont have a problem (usually) with soil and fertility loss we have a problem with GDU and temperature. On a great year in northern ohio you might get 3500 GDU on 110 day corn that can only get planted if we have an early spring and dries out... Most of the people around my area plant 100-85 day corn and we get about 2750-3000 GDU. There is a certain point in which adding nutrients doesnt help when there isnt enough sun to utilize it.
chunkmen Ya no kidding up here in Ontario we are 2350-2650 we grow 83-89 day corn and harvest in November at 25 percent moisture still there’s no amount of anything we can put on to get even close to 300 bushels we have to do a lot right to get 200

He is very disrespectful and what he said about a person who served in the US army and did multiple tours overseas and 3rd generation farmer.
