  • In this video I show a couple of ways to check the rear camber on a Bmw 320D E90 model, I show a simple DIY method that requires very little tools and could give you a decent result, and I also show you a very accurate way to test it which is also not that expensive.
    If I helped ya out and you would like to buy me a drink ko-fi.com/gerardburke
    I found this Camber combo setup, something like this could also be made rover.ebay.com/rover/1/5282-5...
    Cheap Camber Gauge rover.ebay.com/rover/1/5282-5... This is cheaper than what I paid, I think mine was €30.
    Cheap Digital Gauge www.ebay.ie/itm/MAGNETIC-DIGI...

    Another great simple and to the point video. Looked through TH-cam for this information all-day and found ten people who turned this into a scientific experiment with very little practical implementation. Thanks again Mr Burke

    Good information..I was really wondering where the camber adjustment will be made in the BMW 320d e90 suspension..is there camber adjustment for front suspension ?

    Great information, many people run entirely too much negative camber on their rear wheels. I would like to point out that if you change your camber adjustment you must recheck your toe in/out because that is affected with a change in camber. Good video!

    Very well done video. Thanks for taking the time to make and post. I've got a similar setup for my Lexus SC430. The camber adjustment is on the other end of the control arm, closer to the wheel. How about toe adjustment for the vehicle?

    This assumes the wheels are running true right?
    We would recommend taking 4 separate measurements by rotating the wheel 90deg each time, then take an average reading of all 4 measurements on each wheel.

  • @johnnypolex
    @johnnypolex ปีที่แล้ว

    You can also calculate the camber angle somewhat accurately using just that long square + caliper/measuring tape.
    Arctan((gap @ top of rim - gap @ bottom of rim)/rim diameter) = camber (deg)
    For example, atan((1/2”-1/4”)/17”) = 0.841deg.
    This describes a wheel that is angled in at the top of the rim by 1/4” (6.35mm), with a 17” wheel.

    Thank you. My local tyre shop , having aligned front , told me they cant adjust rear camber as they would need an 'air bag' . I think they said to push the wheel out wards during adjustment. Has anyone heard of that before , since I havent !

  • @jasonputtock4428

    okay try this sum out. 650mm (6.5)- 300mm (3)/ 415 mm = 0.8433 For the wheel (15") should be around 5 degree negative camber. Then google sin tan tables. Then check an approx value. does this help .? after ajustment. you managed 2 negative camber. nice.

    Changing camber messes up toe-in as well. You need to adjust both at the same time camber and toe-in.

      @GerardBurkeBurkesGarage  6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hello Tom,
      Thanks for the comment first of all, My email is in the description should you have any further questions.
      To answer your question on hiring an apprentice, I am sorry to say the answer is no, I currently only work with experienced/qualified technicians. The main reason is I simply do not have time to train an apprentice and give him the time needed to grow in this trade. I am very busy each day running the workshop and I fully believe an apprentice needs to have a mechanic shadow him for 2/3 years.
      If you are serious about it I encourage you to keep looking, I hope you find something for you.
      All the best.
