I see Viktor is the one using shimmer "mechanically" and "correctly" instead of being addicted and auch..
actually impressive how despite not being the focus of the story at all, shimmer portrays addiction in such an accurate light without glorifying or mythologizing drug use. It's clearly god awful, but still ends up being common in the story; and every time a protagonist uses it for some purpose it shows just a little bit of how much power it could hold over them - it does its job, but it creeps up on you in ways you could never even notice.
It only seems to cause pain no high though thats what confuses me. Drugs within themselves are bittersweet, depending on the drug it has a massive amount of euphoria but its just surface level artificial pleasure, if you get addicted to it the pain is unimaginable you are striving for something surface level. But shimmer doesnt really have those properties exept for healing and superhuman strength. Maybe i dont understand shimmer well enough but thats what i got from watching it
oh wait maybe not i havent watched it in a while that was the early iteration of the drug
@@AshIzDead yea shimmer is used recreationally at clubs and raves a couple times via smoking it, alongside its weaponization/medical uses. one of the songs (dirty little animals) seems to portray shimmer as a party drug/stimulant. for that matter, i'd imagine extremely high doses of unrefined stimulants also wouldn't be that enjoyable in real life.
@@sinnercinna I rewatched it and noticed the recreational usage of shimmer. Arcane represents addiction super well you can tell they didn’t portray it in a judgemental way either as an addict im super impressed. They have all the layers correct and people turning into monsters when taking high dosages is an amazing metaphor because when stimulants are taken at high doses it can really change who you are and how you act.

So I think it’s really something that when Victor injects himself it’s focused on his work, his passion. We see it from a biological/ chemical perspective and it reflects Victor and his scientific work. But with Jinx, her shimmer injection is focused on her inner psyche and her traumas.
Silco loved Jinx. In his own fucked up way and he was fully genuine about it. He was willing to disregard everything and allow Piltover and Zaun to rip themselves to shreds if it meant he and his daughter would step out of it unharmed.
Interesting how Singed was the one to give shimmer to both Jinx and Viktor so they could be able to survive, decisions like that basically led to the creation of champions we know now 👀
To some extent, I expect these two victims of shimmer to meet in s2, since they worked on the same project from different sides and suffered as a result 👍✨
this is truly amazing and interesting, the cause of the shimmer on these character's is one of the few reasons why I loved watching arcane.

I like how it ends with vi dead because she actually was dead she was never in the last episode she died right there so vi never thought the shimmer demons that was all catlyins doing
