GREAT VID! Best one on youtube. I would recommend you watch it even if you just do a 1 piece top. We followed step by step and the top came out great (we just did the back window and shell, not the headliner and webbing). Here is a warning to those who try this and never have, be ready to take an entire weekend to do this. Yes, Meca is FAST, don't kid yourself, its a big job.
Great video but the sound cut out in it and can't hear you explaining what you are doing when installing the window and adjusting it. That's the part I really need help with.

I had a shop install mine a few months back. It's been 4 months now and the rear window section just pulled all the staples loose across the top, and are now out of business so have to fix it myself. I tried with a staple gun and hammer. it wasn't air powered but all the staples were nailed down. Worked fine for a few days but came out again. I'm thinking of trying again and making it a little less tight, but there isn't much room to give since it was already cut. Any suggestions? I thought about possibly using some screws to keep the staples from pulling up as well.
@1:16:50 you show black nuts for inside rear of top under window and for well liner to clip onto . .. can you tell me the name,part number, or where I can get them. .. only description I hav3 is 9/16 nut.. . . ..please anyone can help. . Someone did. top on my 96 cobra and destroyed them cause outside is like har plastic and metal flAnged nut molded into bottom and button like hanger for well liner. . .the black nuts in his hand right at time stated . . Hi! Really helpful video - I'm having a hard time finding stainless steel staples that match what I removed from my 98 Mustang ... they are 3/8" wide but only 1/8" tall. I think these are 22 gauge. What type of staples do you recommend, and where can I buy them? The shortest I've found so far in stainless steel are 1/4" tall and I'm worried that this will be too tall. Thanks!

@@mecaupholsterytips thank you for replying! The shops around us are charging anywhere from $1500 to $1800 so we are going to do the job ourselves. Some manufacturers have package deals that include new cables, pads/webbing, tack strips and glue kits. Is it a good idea to buy these other items?? Thanks for the great video!
@@brianwilliams8477 If you don't install convertible top for living I recommend you to buy the top with and kit . Is better to put new cable and pad and those parts are in the kit.
I received robbins top from topsonline yesterday. The rear window doesnt have the white reference line on it? The robbins video and your video both have the line on them. Is there a way to measure and mark the line myself? Kinda frustrating for a DIY guy trying to do this for the first time. The side pieces of the top have the markings and they are about 1 1/8 away from the edge.

For the front 3/8 x 1/4 for the rest 3/8 x 3/8 remember has to be stainless steel staples.

Go to any upholstery supply the mustang have it 3/8 by 3/8
And 1/4 only will work for the front section of the convertible.
1/4 tall is to short for the rear

my rear window didn't come with the line drawn on it. any measurement I can do to get it right? not working out

If it's the rear window it doesn't come with the line you have to draw that line most of the time. Line is 6 inch and a half from the glass
