My high school calculus teacher kept telling us, "some day, when you're adults, you will thank me for teaching you this subject." Finally! over 40 years later, his prophecy came true. Thank you, High School Calculus Teacher. You have made me a better FO 76 player. If not for your classes, I would most certainly would be unable to comprehend the armor penetration formula. PS: coolest use of MS Paint on all of TH-cam, IMO!!
So, heavy weapons with the anti armor prefix and stabilized get 72.5% armor penetrate. Considering how fast they shoot, and the fact that they can roll with 25% faster fire rate. Its no wonder the anti armor flamer is melting stuff. Same with the ultracite laser and gatling plasma. Looks like 25% faster fire rate is a must alongside anti armor.
Makes sense, since 25% ffr is just straight 25% dps increase, whereas 25% damage while aiming is not just +25% bonus damage like it suggests after calculations. So 25ffr > 25da on auto weapons, but 25da > 25ffr on (most) semi auto weapons. Assuming you're not using vats that is. It's important to keep in mind that the 25ffr *seems* to apply 25% of the base weapon's fire rate, meaning it acts a little funny with some weapons. The gatling laser is a good example, since it adds 25% of the base gun, without mods, fire rate, this means it actually is a 100% fire rate increase for the charging barrels, doubling your fire rate from 30 to 60 and making that mod actually useable.
Ok so essentially high rof weapons benefit from higher armor penetration like the mini or commando rifles, whereas higher damage per shot weapons don't need as much like the gatling gun and rifleman weapons, good to know!
