    Small note for anyone curious.
    Thr aboleth did not misjudge the size of the star stone, they had summoned a big enough rock, but two of the old human gods(possibly more idk) sacrificed themselves to reduce the impact from "world destroying" down to just "apocalyptic"

    • @ScipioAfricanus01

      I think the implication was that they made it *too* powerful, so instead of just destroying Azlant and the humans as they intended, it destroyed them too (and would have destroyed the planet itself if not for said sacrifice).

      Honestly I have no idea what the aboleth plan was, like congratulations, you just destroyed a world and possibly started multiversal Armageddon by releasing Rovagug... And don't aboleths live in Golarion? I guess they could have gone to another plane, but still, that world would have been unusable if their plan succeeded.

    It is popularly said that the gnomes left the First World for the Material Plane out if curiosity, but it is heavily implied that they may have been cast out of the Fey because they followed an Eldest (pretty much a fey god) who's name has since been struck from history because he stole a piece of the River of Souls to introduce mortality to the curious gnomes. The first gnomes to arrive on Golarion had no souls and so when they perished they were essentially deleted with no afterlife and almost went extinct because they lost many of their fey attributes (hiding in shadows, much of their shape-shifting ability). Buuuut their children were born with souls and now must endlessly pursue new and interesting things or they will become a bleachling. I love gnomes
    ***edit***
    So the gnomes DID have souls in the fey, they just weren't tied to the river of souls. They reincarnated in the fey like the rest of the fey creatures. Losing their connection to the First World without having a connection to the River of Souls is what ultimately destroyed the spirits of the immigrant gnomes. But their children being born here had that connection, fortunately. The migration nearly caused the gnomes to go extinct.

    • @UrLeingod
      @UrLeingod ปีที่แล้ว +4

      In "First World - Realm of the Fey," an in-universe document that a *different* in-universe document notes indicates might be a transcription of an interview with Shyka the Many, one of the Eldest and thus someone who would definitely know (and by far one of the most trustworthy of them, to boot), gnomes have been going through portals for various reasons for countless centuries. Exiled, tricked by the Lantern King, driven out by plague, and even just curious; the story you mentioned is recounted as well, though it doesn't claim the gnomes didn't have souls before, just that they hadn't been tied to the cycle of life and death.

    • @savannahb435
      @savannahb435 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@UrLeingod thank you for that bit of info about the gnomes having souls. I know their souls, when tied to the First World, would simply reincarnate so nobody truly experienced real death in the Fey. I don't know why I said they didn't have souls lol.
      But Shyka the Many is going to be a big part of my campaign I'm running. This is my first time being a DM and currently there is a bit of a time Paradox because of something that happened with one of my characters in a previous campaign. The overarching theme is for the players to find the source of the Paradox and stop it from happening to prevent a "Conjunction of Spheres". In my setting, the lines between the Fey and Material plane are thinning... and inadvertently this is also causing the barrier between the material plane and shadow plane to weaken. There's a lot of fun mechanics to explore in the fey so I have my work cut out for me in my first campaign. :)

All the creatures and gods came about and did some dumb stuff that killed the planet. BUT IT LIVED! Humans are harder to kill than roaches, Dwarves don't know when to quit building kingdoms, elves bounced when then world died, gnomes need to party to survive, halflings, orcs and dwarves sprung up out of the ground, and goblins are people blood.

    The fact that the gods made the First World with all its plants, creatures, and people, and then just said “lol bye our test run is over!” was so messed up.
    There’s a section in the First World book from PF1e where a fey says something along the lines of “We made the mistake of thinking we were first as in ‘firstborn’ when really we were first as in ‘first draft’”

    • @UrLeingod
      @UrLeingod ปีที่แล้ว +55

      "The reason was simple, understandable, and all the more horrible for it. We knew we were the first of our kind, you see, but we made the mistake of thinking that made us special. That we were first as in “firstborn,” when really it was first as in “first draft.” They had dabbled and practiced, created the clay and shaped us from it, given us life and thoughts and love. And then, when the model was perfected, the practice round complete, they swept the workspace clean and started fresh.
      "They didn’t even bother to lie to us.
      "Creatures from the Material Plane can’t understand what it means to be without gods. Even those who actively reject them still define themselves by their denial. They’re like angry children who refuse to speak to their parents, pretending they’re not there. We, on the other hand, watched our parents step onto a ship and sail away, never to return. Not because they couldn’t take us with them, but because they simply didn’t care." -Shyka the Many

    There was also that one time that a giant alien spaceship that came from another planet crashed into the land of Conan barbarians, and destroyed the environment while leaving a bunch of sci-fi laser guns and other cool stuff laying around. The aliens who created this ship were actually Humans, but not the Humans created by the squid-fish who wanted to rule stuff, and these alien Humans were lazy so they created a bunch of fake Humans with cool tattoos to do everything for them. Unfortunately all but one of these alien Humans aboard the spaceship died during the crash, and the one that did survive was assassinated by the group of Conan wizards she recruited to help her go home because they wanted all the cool sci-fi stuff.
    The Conan wizards then started to horde all the laser guns and enslaved the fake Humans because "synths aren't real people", then started enslaving real people because they're kinda evil and everyone in the land of Conan and Space Robots had a bad time for a long time.

    The creation of the universe has conflicting information depending on which book you choose to believe. While the Windsong Testaments does claim Pharasma was the first to appear from the Seal, and Concordance of Rivals seems to confirm that she might be the oldest being in creation, the Book of the Damned claims that Asmodeus and his brother Ihys were the first motes of light from the Seal, and others came after. You can make of that what you will.

    I'm curious as to how this ties in with Starfinder. I haven't played Pathfinder since 1e days, and some of this I actually didn't know.

    Golarion is just another campaign settings in my Pathfinder 2e universe. Players just adventure, no campaign setting ever mentioned, even if its a demi-plane. All D&D universe lore, campaign settings, monsters, deities, etc. all applies, all the way back to AD&D 1e.

      i see no issue with a DM making you into an angel for a higher level adventure path. There's also Aasimar in pathfinder if you want to go the easy route straight from lvl 1 as a mortal.

    as far as i'm aware, all of this is 1e lore. theres a bunch of stuff that happened during the course of 1e that could be considered 2e lore (since the source material considers certain consequences of APs canonical), but i didn't recognise any of that in here.

    If newcomers ask on how Aroden died.
    There is a crazy theory that he made a deal with the eldritch gods when he bought the Starstone up. So yes they exist and known as the dark tapestry. Most of them hitchhiked on that meteor to golarion and when it crashed they left it and slowly sink into mortal cultures.
    In lore two known eldritch gods exist near the Starstone. Nhimbaloth and xor something.
    Spoilers below for one of the adventure paths.
    3
    2
    1
    In abomination vaults literally her temple/prison is deep underground from the village of otari which is like half a day travel heading east to absalom city where Starstone is.
    Another the Xor being literally could be surrounding the island where absalom is on in that enclosed sea region you see in the map.
    In Osiria nyarlathotep was dominant and alive until June of the adventure paths in 1e yiu facs him and “kill” him for good.
    There is others but they mostly live near that island. Ppl theorized Aroden made a deal wifh one of them and when the day he was suppose to help humans he “died” either they imprisoned him, or he turn into one of them and became a new eldritch god that is hidden.

    One thing I don't like about all fantasy settings is that they are all creasionist , why aren't there fantasy settings where creatures and all sentient species are the result of evolution?
