First DD tautog of 2024

Perseverance paid off! It started a bit rough, windy, then drizzled and turned into a nice day. I did not get a single bite in the first hour. Then I got lucky with a 11 and a half pound tautog that destroyed my reel and almost straightened the hook. Not another bite for 45 minutes. Wet and cold I almost called it but stayed a bit longer and got rewarded. So 3 fish in 3 hours. All keepers

The lone fisherman putting food on his table one fish at a time is the ONLY one who should keep what he catches. Conservation efforts need to be concentrated on headboats and businesses. The surf and kayak/canoe anglers are just fine.

I agree, but at the same time he's not doing anything illegal. Harvesting the fish is his choice and it has to be respected.
