As a Tennessee alum it was hard to like a channel called Bama Saltwater but you make very enjoyable videos. Even more importantly you seem like a genuine good dude unlike the vibe I get from other fishing/deer meat channels. Best of luck to you and your channel, I’ll be rooting for you.
I am so glad I found your channel…I’m moving back to area in the next few weeks. Fished the gulf my whole life until about 12 years ago when I was transferred. Maybe you could teach an old Navy vet how to fish this area again! Would love to buy you lunch sometime. Love the way you always end your videos…to God be the glory!!
That looks like a new boat to me, you can't beat getting out on the water and with a surface rapala and white buck tail 9 out of 10 times you're coming home with fish Great video
Hey love the show , ur the type that every trip would be fun as HECK. I hurt my shoulder real bad and my summer of fishing has ended before it could start. Looking forward to watching u all summer here in nyc.
Loved it! I never miss a video. This one was great too! the live shot cast and catch was super fun! sorry I dont always comment but i always leave a like. I would DEFINITELY watch the extra 10 minutes if it was a catch and cook, ya know...
Great video Stephen 👍👍. Great of you to show that specialized tackle isn't needed to fish saltwater. We started out with 7ft inshore tackle to surf fish. When we decided how much we liked it and made it a yearly trip that's when we bought inexpensive Penn combos for the surf.
Chilling in the cab of my rig, waiting for a load, watching your videos.Moved to FL four years ago your videos were very helpfull being a fresh water fisherman.Keep em coming brother.
I prefer a "squid spoon" on 40 to 50 lb leader behind a trolling weight or egg sinker in front of a swivel just for the flash and single hook. Crank's work but don't care for the hooks thrashing about while trying to get a hooked fish off the lure. Enjoy multi species trips. Thanks for all the effort you go through making informative videos for us.
Last summer I went with two 11 yr old twin boys, and 12yr old female cousin out on their first deep sea trip out of Fort Morgan. The grandfather (me) got more worn out than they did. They held there own with some 15lb+ snapper! Stuck that big rod under armpit and held on, and reel'd. Wish could send you pix . I was thinking how much fun they would have trolling like you did. Could see you weren't far out. Nice video. Keep em coming. Did first turkey hunt Friday didn't hear a gobble, but fun to be out and was 48F-nice morn in woods of N. La
Next time try that rig that's like a mile or 2 south southeast of fort Morgan. Rig up a slip cork and get some live shrimp or some big pogies and you'll get on those monster Spanish.
Once again, thank you Stephen for another great video. I’m a little surprised that with partners like Mossy Oak, you don’t have more subscribers. You definitely have one of the most watchable fishing channels. Your content is clean, informative and a lot of fun to watch. I can never get enough. I would subscribe a couple of hundred thousand times if I could. God Bless you and your family.
What amazes me the most is, that mackrels are very hard fighters compared to their size. Shows that they belong to the same family as the tuna. Here in the Baltic Sea two on a mackrel rod are enough to make you believe that cou hooked a cod :D :D Thanks for your video. Petri! (a fishermans greeting here in Germany: means "may Petrus multiply your fish) :)
Kind of surprised you didn't attach the safety cord to your rods while trolling. Not worried about the rods getting yanked out of the holder? My thoughts on the bite marks on baits is the fish can see it and it makes it more believable that it is a injured bait.
Great day of fishing, you worked over those Spanish mackerel. The only thing missing on that deck was me tossing that other rod…lol. And then the canals, I’m down…
The point you made about lures being bit up just catching better I find very accurate. Also interesting as it’s a known thing in the freshwater salmon fishing scene where I am. The theory is something to do with amino acids in their mouth getting on the bait. I think you’re probably closer to right. The bait gets beat up a bit and runs differently and fish just can’t stand it. Generally for me I notice it when trolling a flasher and fly, the fly gets torn up in ways no other fly is and you can catch them on it until all the tinsel is gone pretty much
How’s the new engine working out? Love the content. Explanation of the fishing rigs are 100%. The prep and eating of the fish…..outstanding! Also, nice to see a young guy bringing his mom for an exciting day of fishing! Keep up the great work!
Hey brother, thank you for your service. I am about to start kayaking around this area. I am out of Foley. Wondering the best way to start out knowing locations of structure. Do i need to find it, or do people share that info? Would love a bit of insight before i get out there. Always down for some fishing if you ever get tired of fishing solo
This guy needs a big Viking or Hatteras and taking folks out for offshore fishing. I would definitely love to go out and learn something and enjoy the water that he knows so well
Love your video as usual. So, over the past I have beg you to take me fishing with you, any chance i can beg and get a yes......😁 Another question, it about the Durags or Doo rags again. I do not ear baseball style caps, but do wear the Doo Rag while working and fishing. Any thoughts on "Bama Saltwater" Doo Rags? Please...😁😁😁
I've been stung by them. Catfishing Florida when I was down there for a couple years and it doesn't hurt as bad as you say it does. I've been stung by all types of catfish and quite a few different states that I lived in but it does hurt. Don't get me wrong because of that poison. Love your videos. Keep them coming
I request that we get at least one 1 hour long video every 2 weeks. I’m sure the TH-cam world tells you to keep videos around 20-30 minutes, but I think your fan base would be very supportive of 1 longer video every 14 days. Worth the experiment anyway…
@@PhillyAllen-l4k I get that the attention span of a majority of channel viewers is probably around that 25 minute mark, but I bet the fishing/hunting viewers have no issue with longer videos and actually prefer them. It’s not something I personally need to rush through.
I generally skip videos of that length, even from my favorite TH-camrs. It’s not an attention span thing, I just don’t come to TH-cam for long form content.
How big do those saltwater catfish get? I've seen catfish in the Missouri here as long as i am tall.I went shrimp fishing with friends in Texas years ago and we caught cats right off the edge of the boat where it was tied up.I thought they tasted pretty good compared to these back here.
Could it be that once a bait is chewed and scared, because it is no longer smooth, the action changes a little and may resemble a more true to life action? Just a thought.
Is there a rhyme or reason for when/where to catch Spanish?? I was on Ms gulf today and some kayakers said they caught some this morning, but the bite quit. 🤷🏼♂️ I have never tried trolling, just wondering maybe if I would’ve went in a little deeper water may would’ve helped???

Been poked many times by hard heads!😣 You’re right! The pain hangs around! The little ones are the worst!
The beauty of trolling you can even do it on a paddle style kayak as well sure it's a little more tiring but can be done there too.

When your trolling for spanish are you using your depth finder to find them? Or just trolling over areas you suspect fish to be?
Eh mostly just troll outside the second sandbar on the beach and look for birds or bait. You can find them there majority of the time

What lures do you recommend for surf fishing right now?
1 oz silver casting jig such as a Nomad Ridgeback Longest or a Pompano jig

About 10-12 lbs mostly

Definitely likely !
enjoy your cooking shows. how close do mahi mahi come to shore?
Sometimes you can catch them from the piers !
Any chance you do charters?? i live in the area and looking for someone to get me on some fish!
I do not charter but I appreciate you for reaching out!
Do you ever lead charters? I'd pay to fish with you!
I do not !

Won't the lure with the least line out, come in front of the fish first? Assuming they are actively feeding, the shorter line will get bit more.
eh sometimes... or the trailing lure out of the prop wash gets eaten cause it gets seen first. all depends
