Semi driver rescued from truck dangling off Louisville bridge over Ohio River

- A semi truck was hanging off the Second Street Bridge between southern Indiana and Louisville, Ky. after a dramatic rescue Mar. 1, 2024.
First responders could be seen rappelling down to the semi's cab where a driver was still trapped inside. The driver was then seen in the arms of a rescuer being pulled to safety.
The Louisville Metro Police Department said a preliminary investigation revealed the semi's tractor trailer and three other vehicles somehow crashed. It's unclear exactly how the crash occurred at this time, but police said it resulted in the semi hanging over the side of the bridge.
Two people in one of the other vehicles were transported to the hospital with "serious, life-threatening" injuries.
The semi driver was also taken to the hospital, but appeared to be OK, according to police.

I say thank God and Jesus for sparing the woman's life AAAND for the first responders whom HE allowed to rescue her. I'm a driver and I couldn't imagine being in this situation!❤❤❤
This lady was just as my work earlier that morning. Granted she was acting a little strange. Must have known her day was gonna get worse, then better.
I watched the interview. She was not happy at the way the cargo was loaded and running behind. We are all human. That was the issue. A pickup truck crossed into her lane, and it took out the steering and suspension. She lost all steering, and the bridge caught the truck, but also the brake somehow was holding the truck in place. She said when she let off the brake leaving, the rig made a noise, and it gave her and the firefighter a scare. She was praying the whole time. 40 plus minutes dangling above the river in that cab. Praise be to God.
She has a good forgiving heart, she has already forgiven the driver who caused this frightening accident, she said. She said we all make mistakes.

That takes a brave person to be able to save someone in that position!!! And that semi driver is also brave. I know they had no other choice but to grab and hold on for dear life, but still. I guarantee if they didn’t have chest hair prior to this, they have a couple now! 😅

Sydney Thomas, the truck driver said that, "Sometimes you don't think God is listening but he was listening that day." She was hanging over the bridge for 40 minutes until she was rescued. She credits her military service for helping her stay calm.

Unbelievable and so scary! I’m not sure why anyone thinks that bridge is safe. That little fragile gate couldn’t hold anything back from going over! This is the state of bridges in the US while we send money and resources over seas? Not ok.
That’s ignorance. We aren’t scrimping from one program to gift another at all. It’s all worked through our already plump military cost. Ignorance should be bliss, you don’t seem blissful.

What had happened was a car decided to stop in front of the semi. And that's what caused the accident. Don't know why people think it's a great idea to just stop your vehicle on the bridge. No hazard lights or nothing. Now some people did speculate that the car that stopped was suffering from a medical issue. But if you're suffering from a medical issue, at least turn your hazard lights on.
Sysco probably docked her pay for the time she was hanging from that bridge. 😂 that company is terrible I worked for them in Louisville.

Wasn't the driver's fault. Several witnesses stated a pickup truck was speeding and weaving in and out of traffic on the 2nd Street Bridge. I'm familiar with that bridge. Damn well not the place to play macho or a game of chicken.
The asshole driving the pickup caused in the 18-wheeler to crash through the railing and sent a couple other motorists to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Damn this was some Chicago fire rescue type shit bro wow! I was waiting to see Severi from Chicago fire Squad 3 lol
