Love that sermon. If you think about it its a great way to think when you hear it from other people. When they say F U think about the fact that you are forgiven.
How can anyone speak against this message. This is what we should be doing. Changing the meaning to the negative things that plague us. And if it gets folks attention to forgive then I say well done. Since this message I will follow this great man of God.
My point was precisely as you stated, "people just have to accept it by acknowledging they've messed up." I agree with you 100%! There is a condition, you stated it clearly. Ephesians 4:32 says - "Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you." How did God in Christ forgive? Through his death and our repentance - it's conditional. Without the Christ's work and without our repentance, the circle of forgiveness isn't complete. Conditional.
when my boyfriend first showed me this video i was amused but then i wanted to see more videos of dr vernon. Im now closer to god than i was before because of watching all these series. thank dr vernon .
Thanks for preaching in boldness and creating an amazing response so that even our students in New Braunfels, TX are using the F Word in a positive way! I think Jesus took culture and creatively responded and another guy named Paul did the same. Keep preaching and reaching!
wow its funni..im a teen at the word church and too be honest i never thought that kids/teens culd feel the presence of God or could have a breakthrouh..i always thought that only adults can experience those type of things w/Him..but i have never felt so loved and protected b4....God has allowed me to c nd go through things that other teens nd at the word church i ve learned sooo much nd mi relationship w/ God has grown nd yea so wat ima teen the bible says that the holy spirit has NO age limi
@Powell4184 If you think it all means the same thing, then you completely missed the point and the meaning. NO, it DOES NOT mean the same thing. We're CHANGING THE MEANING! It's time!
Sigh... In our zeal to make the sermons sound exciting, and capture attentions, we can't keep getting carried away. Pastor, please be careful! You're saying one thing, but remember, it's not what we feel is right, or what we know is right, if it's going to make a brother fall!
My last response is: since texts such as James 3:10 teach us not to curse in any way ("My brethren these things ought not be"), why would God lead a person to disobey this command to accmplish His will? If you answer God would do such, then no other command in the bible is binding on any people at any time in any sense. Also, if God is doing this, then God is against the very commands He has given us to obey.
@goalmaster14...ok then, go to your boss when you go to work and say to him, "You know what I know you don't like me but FU!" and see what he or she does...the bible says that evil communication corrupts good manner...
I agree that believers can get too intense over some subjects. I believe we should never make any of this personal to the point of judging someone's salvation. However, what we say is important to God for all of us will give an account of our words before God-Matt. 12:36 "But I tell you that every careless word that people speak, they shall give an accounting in the day of judgment (NASB)." All of us, including R.A., must remember this when we claim to speak for or in behalf of the Lord.
The Pharisees didn't like some of the things Jesus said too, saying it didn't line up with the law. Who is going to through the first stone on this board. If this message brought one soul to eternity, totally worth it.
I find that people who enjoy lower standards get really offended when someone stands against their mess. This is obviously wrong. Or their wouldn't be so many angry comments trying to defend this man.
i don't know if anyone here knows this, but this sample was made famous by "loops of fury" ,"madeon", and "knife party" techno artists. it's funny. i love the Lord but i just had to check this out to find out what was really going on. God bless you and we need to F everyone who offends us.
Pastor R.A. Vernon is a great man and pastor. Some people are so self righteous that they can't appreciate good teaching when hear it. Dr. Vernon teaches where folks of all age groups can learn from his style. I love him and feel he is truly an anointed man of God. We need more pastors like him.
What is so sad about those who see no problem in trying to explain a sacred doctrine of Scripture through an analogy from the gutter is on one hand you believe the scripture which RA read concerning forgiveness (and so do I), but on the other hand you must not believe scripture from the same word of God which warns against uttering perverse things-i.e. Prov. 29:11 "a fool utters all in his mind...." Or, "the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity -Jam. 3:6 Do you believe the whole Bible?
The reason why there are people commening on this message see no problem with this is because they do not know the Scriptures, and they are also more loyal to a man than they are to the Lord according to His word. The bottom line is, even though some are trying to make this kind of analogy acceptable, holy, and good according to their personal opionions, THERE IS NO BIBLICAL JUSTIFICATION FOR THIS KIND OF GUTTER ANALOGY IN THE PULPIT!
One day Christians if thats what they are, will grow up and understand that the purpose of the pastor is not to entertain us but equip us for the work of the ministry. If you tell a lost person FU i dont care how you dress it up they are going to think you're crazy and that won't glorify God.
I suggest that this Pastor seeks God for forgiveness. and all those persons who supports him needs to do the same. #Disappointment# A blind Shepherd leading a flock of Lambs. Woe beyond to you Pastor Vernon, Repent for the wages of sin is death!!!
I think this is hilarious. My Christian friend would be laughing with me. We can sometimes take things much too seriously, and I think GOD has a sense of humor. He did create us, right??? We all need a good laugh.
I Cor. 2:12-13 says: Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things freely given to us by God, which things we also speak, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, combing spiritual thoughts with spiritual words (NASB)." Verse 13 is very clear that the Holy Spirit teaches by "combing spiritual thoughts with spiritual words." See next post for rest of comment.
If Christ were here, physically, so many people would ignore Him, as they do the person that sits on the sidewalk looking for help. Yes, there are a lot of imposters that wear brand new Nikes, however, besides that, how can anyone tell the difference in the "true" Christ and the "fake" Christ? The "true" follower reaches others, they teach, they make others laugh, they make you think, and they pass on the word. This Pastor passed on the word in a humorous way. Wonderful! :D
I believe those who are in support of R.A.'s words can greatly boost their argument if they would give one scripture where God admonishes us to use any words necessary to get His truth to men. With all due respect and no harm or hurt towards any, I have not read of one in regards to this subject which twcvideo has made public and opened for discussion.
@chezniki I can not believe this statement seeing that it was R.A. Vernon who preached the FU sermon, talked about it on Tom Joyner, and published it on TH-cam through The Word Church Media Ministries! The people who disagree with this non-sense are not the ones who have made this a public issue! Dr. R.A. Vernon and the Word Church are the ones who have made this a public topic and thus open for debate!
@danafaina You are absolutely correct! Most of what you see on T.V. religion in the U.S., and most of what you see in Mega churches is a hybrid/false form of Christianity which is not about glorifying the Person and Redemptive work of Christ on the cross, nor would it be recognized by the Apostles as Christianity. IT IS ABOUT ENTERTAINMENT, WORSHIP OF THE PASTOR OR BISHOP, ME, MYSELF AND I GETTING MY PRAISE THING ON! What you see is an Apostate Church or one which is very close to it!
So when u text your ex etc and tell them fu what are they going think u mean???? Forgive u???!!! I highly doubt! Its a shame Lord have mercy on your church. Not evryone who says Lord Lord....
I am not very familiar with Pastor Driscoll. However, from what I have read on the web site of Mars Hill Church they are a sound church believing all of the essentials of the Christian faith, and also holding to certain distinctives of Reformation Theology. I have heard a few of his sermons and they were all exegetically sound sermons. I have no axe to grind with Pastor Driscoll.
I have been watching this post since it first came out. It amazes me that I have not read one articulate, lucid, biblical argument from a grammatical-historical method of biblical interpretation which justifies R.A's remarks. The reason why is this is the type of Christian which is being produced/discipled by most of these mega type ministries. Christians who are not growing in their knowledge of God's word, Christians who can not discern truth by searching the Bible. VERY SAD!
Now don't get me wrong I am not saying that Jesus lived worldly. I am saying that if he was talking to a farmer, he used farming for his approach. When they wanted to chat with him about taxes, He said render to Caesar what is Caesar's then he turned around and said and to God what is God's. We are only seeing a portion of this message, we don't know how he closed.
R.A. has saved no one. Only Jesus can do that. I commend R.A. for helping many people and I pray he continues. I am glad he is happily married. However, he is the one who likened "forgiveness" to the term "FU" in a public setting. He needs to be held accountable to Acts 17:11 like all other pastors. The reason why R.A. and other pastors come up with ridiculous theology is we give them a pass instead of insisting they remain true to Scripture.
Imagine if we taught our kids at very young ages that FU means Forgive You rather than the other negative connotation? What if they never heard the other word nor it's meaning...I'm just saying
i enjoy pastor vernon but i want to know his views on tithing, rapture, false modern version bibles, etc. i have his cd series on dating and marriage which are good but still.
Judge lest Ye be judged! Let this man lead his flock please. If he is not your Shepherd then don't concern yourselves with his sermon. I happen to have great respect for this man of God. We all know the subject matter in which he speaks. If taken out of context then shame on you.
We have to be careful when we defend our pastors...they are humans who are prone to make mistakes. Paul rebuked Peter to his face. The members of the Word Church shouldn't take these gentle rebukes of Pastor Vernon personally. We who preach the Gospel should be held to a high standard. It may take some time, but I believe Pastor Vernon will someday regret using FU to illustrate the importance of forgiveness.
At least he is trying, the pure gospel of Jesus Christ, in accordance with the work of God through the Holy Spirit, IS sufficient for the saving of men's souls and SHOULD BE all lthat needs to be spread, but look at the state of the world especially our youth, & there r not enough God fearing ppl pulling them in. If this catches the attn of a person who's gone astray, prayerfully they will get pulled n and start to grow and mature in God:-)
@alyess50 Please give chapter and verse where Jesus called the Pharisees "dog poo." I am not familiar with it. Also, I agree that believers should be more concerned with starving children than the utterance of a curse word. Also, I have heard the particular sermon you mentioned which Tony Campolo preached, but I do not think he was advocating the use of one of the most gross words for a sexually immoral act to describe something as holy as forgiveness. I may be wrong, but I am just saying.
Okay, it's funny and all but as a non-religious person I say this is great! It gets people watching and it gets people forgiving. But he really needs to go with "asked" instead of "axed" to be taken more seriously.
I love the word of God! However, there are some people that will never read it or accept it the way it is written because other "Christians" have turned them off by attitudes such as these I am reading here. Now, Jesus went sinners houses and ate at their tables and got down on their level and spoke to them in ways that they could understand. During those times, that was a no no also. Nevertheless, when he was done their lives were changed.
@blackdog2k6 If someone can show that this type of analogy is biblical then all who are in opposition to what Dr. R.A. said have no right to be critical of his use of the "FU" terminology for he would be doing that which is biblical or in accordance with the word of God. In contrast, if someone can give no sound scriptural argument to support the use of vulgar analogies such as "FU" then those who are in favor of Dr. Vernon's must ask themselves is Dr.R.A. doing that which is biblical?
In the WORLD not of the World.. i dont need to use a worldly slogan to win nobody to Christ.. Jesus said If I be lifted up ILL DRAW ALL MEN UNTO ME!!! THATS WORD CHURCH!!! Im offended but "F HIM" How does that sound??smh... We need to Preach Jesus thats it and thats all!!! The Day of Pentecost when the WORD was preached the Bible said they Gladly Received The Word. Get back to the word!! The Letter Kills, and "SHOCKS" but its the Spirit that makes alive... Praying for this man and flock
@PASTORWIFENOW1 Pastor in all respect you are missing the point....This pastor is giving a new meaning and another approach instead of using the f word in a negative if you are going to use it, use it to "FORGIVE" rather than disrespect someone. Frankly I love it...think of the number of times the negative fword has been used and resulting in negative consequences...If someone steps on you toe and you don't like I rather said FU and I mean I forgive you..it's all cool.
people who are offended by this sermon.. congrats.. you've become legalistic and religious just like the Pharisees.. Jesus shook things up by preaching things that were looked at as "blasphemy".. even Paul himself basically cursed in Philippians 3:8 to get his point across..
@swtblacknezz ARe you serious? What word do you think was going through those peoples minds? What part of "let all your conduct be holy" do you not understand
That is incorrect he did not go to places that nobody else went, he did not go to the theater the brothels etc neither did paul or the apostles, where did paul go in acts to preach the gospel again not the theater temples or brothels he went straight to the synagogue
couple problems with this- 1) the term "F U" (if we be honest for a bit) upon hearing does not resonate "forgive". The pastor does a great job making the correlation btwn the two but rises up for the "babies in Christ" the notion that it's ok to say "F U" knowing that their recipients won't receive that as "forgive". So what ends up happening is that we provoke folk further instead of mending the gap. 2) The term shouldn't just be "F U"... rather "I F U" for I forgive You.
@swtsakey You don't miss these points please Matthew 7:21 - 24 1 Corthians 15:33 Ephesians 4:29 Luke 11:39 Of all the sermons he could've copied off of Pastor Jamal Bryant he picked this one.... I don't know what he was thinking, it was'nt edifing to the body when Pastor Bryant preached it a couple of years ago & it's not edifing now w/ him preaching it. Learn & trust God' way of doing things. Take Care
While this did most certainly get my attention, and being a man of God, I disagree with the method not necessarily with the message. Not to mention most of the ungodly folks that here this, geer and say that if this the kind of stuff that we preach about they would come and here it. Preach the word!!!
now this is wat u call copying things of the world.... sad... i thought the church should be different and set apart. Jesus and the woman at the well is being used out of context Preacha Tim
the concept of trying to persuade the youth in the church to forgive others by twisting a simple regularly used insult = good idea The way the idea was delivered (and over-delivered) = bad idea If he had just left it at "the new F word is forgive", the message would have probably sank in more......but then again,, positive + negative = negative
I havent seen any one angry. I see many shocked saints many disappointed saints but no angry saints. do you feel this is right tbone? why? because it gives you an excuse to tell people "fu" and then you can pretend like you were saying forgive? he could have got this message of forgiveness across without being inappropriate
Really? so then why didn't Jesus or any of the apostles do that? its amazing how every preacher from the apostles didn't do this so why would you want to change it from how Jesus preached?
Christ was more than a man so OS method was truth no chaser not the new word is F U even the way it was applied we all know what that means when we say F U and forgive is not what comes to mind
I do not disagree with the scriptural truth that unless we forgive others God will not forgive us for this is according to the word of God (Matt. 6:14-15). I have no criticism of Dr. R.A. teaching the truth of this text. The text regarding God using what others planned as evil to accomplish His will come from the account of Joseph in Gen. 45. I have no problem with this text either. PLEASE SEE MY ADDITIONAL RESPONSE TO ADDRESS YOUR LAST POINT.
I do not believe in talking bad concerning a man of God but the Word, when spoken by the man of God from the pulpit, is and should be anointed and holy. I honestly do not sense this new connotation for the word "forgive" being inspired by God to be fed to the flock. I sense it was birthed by the man himself. We must remember that God is a holy God and while He is a Creator of a sense of humor, His humor never sways to conjure up carnality. As the preacher said "F-you" several times, I kept thinking of the "word" itself. If I forgive someone, then that's the exact word I'd use. Otherwise, it is offensive and fleshly and funny at the same time but I do not see God being glorified nor pleased with His people saying the word forgive in this manner---especially communicated from the pulpit in this way.
@jackiemenefee The mindset that I have is one that would lift up the NAME OF JESUS WITH CHARACTER AND INTEGRITY!!! I am concerned about how the world perceives FU because I am a representation of JESUS's saving grace. How can we (I) say that we are saved if we do what they do? Saved from what?!?! My goal is to bring souls into the KINGDOM. This is offensive to the unsaved as well those that are saved.
I got one thing to say, "Don't let your good be evil spoken of"!!!
I forgive the 3 people who dislikes this messege
Forgiveness is needed in this world and that word needs to get out to the world. Forgiveness is what it is all about.
Love that sermon. If you think about it its a great way to think when you hear it from other people. When they say F U think about the fact that you are forgiven.
who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
That's my Pastor, he crazy and we're keeping him!
How can anyone speak against this message. This is what we should be doing. Changing the meaning to the negative things that plague us. And if it gets folks attention to forgive then I say well done. Since this message I will follow this great man of God.
what about the people who actually texted their exes? bet they were alll kinna cinfused!
confused
My point was precisely as you stated, "people just have to accept it by acknowledging they've messed up." I agree with you 100%! There is a condition, you stated it clearly. Ephesians 4:32 says - "Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you." How did God in Christ forgive? Through his death and our repentance - it's conditional. Without the Christ's work and without our repentance, the circle of forgiveness isn't complete. Conditional.
hey great message! not many people would see it as a positive message. thought it was funny as! all the glory to god! god bless!!

@goalmaster14...ok then, go to your boss when you go to work and say to him, "You know what I know you don't like me but FU!" and see what he or she does...the bible says that evil communication corrupts good manner...
Finally, a relevant sermon for today. :)

this is the church of fury
omg shutttt up people. He got the point across about forgiveness AND made it funny/relatable. whats the problem with that.
JESUS NEVER TOLD NO ONE 2 DO SUCH BLASPHEMY TEACHING!!!! SAD :(
We have to be careful when we defend our pastors...they are humans who are prone to make mistakes. Paul rebuked Peter to his face. @rustyalien FORGIVENESS isn't REVERENCING GOD? I mean that is what the "F" is for....he is quite clear about it.
@mizzsizzel cuz hearing a pastor say "F U" is flipping HILARIOUS!!!
@alyess50 Please give chapter and verse where Jesus called the Pharisees "dog poo." I am not familiar with it. Also, I agree that believers should be more concerned with starving children than the utterance of a curse word. Okay, it's funny and all but as a non-religious person I say this is great! It gets people watching and it gets people forgiving. But he really needs to go with "asked" instead of "axed" to be taken more seriously.
ernem8, thanks for the spell check, but have you ever heard of TYPO's? Go back to the ALTAR. Is that better? God bless you too!
Do you people not understand a joke when you hear one?? I thought this was hilarious, and I never EVER cuss!
This is AWESOME ! God bless !
Spoke allot of sense in me ! :)
The angry I have seen are from the people trying to condemn him.
@PASTORWIFENOW1
Pastor in all respect you are missing the point....This pastor is giving a new meaning and another approach instead of using the f word in a negative if you are going to use it, use it to "FORGIVE" rather than disrespect someone. Frankly I love it...think of the number of times the negative fword has been used and resulting in negative consequences...If someone steps on you toe and you don't like I rather said FU and I mean I forgive you..it's all cool.
Does anyone know the title of the music playing at the background? thats all i'm interested in. thanx. :D
Jamal Bryant Said It first, But this... I don't think this will catch on... LOL
people who are offended by this sermon.. congrats.. you've become legalistic and religious just like the Pharisees.. Jesus shook things up by preaching things that were looked at as "blasphemy".. even Paul himself basically cursed in Philippians 3:8 to get his point across..
no dr, in the church that man title
hahahaha bless u Pastor R.A. Vernon - i got the message tho'...heard that
If Holy men of old did'nt change it in the WORD of GOD that was inspired by GOD
why do you fill the need to change it.
@swtblacknezz ARe you serious? What word do you think was going through those peoples minds? What part of "let all your conduct be holy" do you not understand
Lmbo this mans too much
wow!
...and they call this church? Wow! Smh!
This preacher rocks, I would visit there!
That is incorrect he did not go to places that nobody else went, he did not go to the theater the brothels etc neither did paul or the apostles, where did paul go in acts to preach the gospel again not the theater temples or brothels he went straight to the synagogue
@SolideoGloriafella
Amen.
couple problems with this- 1) the term "F U" (if we be honest for a bit) upon hearing does not resonate "forgive".
I think it’s taking back the things of the world and giving it a new meaning because the difference is that this FU requires faith when you say it.
Notkarltonbanks brought me here!! I’m first!
the concept of trying to persuade the youth in the church to forgive others by twisting a simple regularly used insult = good idea
The way the idea was delivered (and over-delivered) = bad idea
If he had just left it at "the new F word is forgive", the message would have probably sank in more......but then again,, positive + negative = negative
I havent seen any one angry. I see many shocked saints many disappointed saints but no angry saints. do you feel this is right tbone? why? because it gives you an excuse to tell people "fu" and then you can pretend like you were saying forgive? he could have got this message of forgiveness across without being inappropriate
This is insane
Really? so then why didn't Jesus or any of the apostles do that? its amazing how every preacher from the apostles didn't do this so why would you want to change it from how Jesus preached?
@FroopieLoopies He did; a couple of years ago but wrong is wrong no matter who u r. W.W.J.S? 1 Corinthians 15:33 Ephesians 4:29 Matthew 7:21 24
whats the track in the background?
Pastor R.A. Vernon might preach better than your and he said the new F word in the Word church is FORGIVE listen to it people
AMEN! Lol
MASONIC BACKGROUND. CHECKERED.
The church world is in trouble.
This is great, man!
