uhhh! I'm into Russian music for quite some time, yet still discovered new artists, thanks to your reaction. One thing is for sure, no matter what genre, from Folk to metall, Russian music always carries a very special kind of emotionality, spirituality and grandeur. It always strikes deep.
This is a great lesson on how to be blown away in a few minutes…what a song..what a band, together with a stunning video. Even before I looked up the lyrics for this song, the video painted a scene of glory and honour in battle, delivered with passion by a superb vocal. The lyrics made reference to the Norse god Odin. Such musical reference needs power and energy as a scene setter. Well, Barbie Girl by Aqua just wouldn’t work. This band certainly has power and energy within the symphonic metal genre that easily compares with the likes of Nightwish, Epica and Within Temptation. Those who like their metal to be massive, over the top and catchy yet also melodic, gentle and pristine, it’s time to crank up the volume on your sound system of choice, and wake up the neighbours. Brilliant song. I noticed a thoughtful reaction Sabina…justifiable as there is hell of a lot to take in and digest. Loved it.
Imperial Age - Legacy of Atlantis next! Very intriguing lyrics, especially since Aor's thesis for university was about Imperial Russia and Nazi Germany's fascination with Atlantis, Antarctica and Tibet. And it's a gorgeous song, more like Therion musically, true symphonic metal
If I may suggest to check Therion, an original master of symphonic metal, especially with the Draconian Trilogy : video called "Draconian Trilogy Therion Miskolc Experience Goes Classic". First-class quality :-)
Last time, you reacted to imperial age you said that you are not sure whether its metal or not. I think now you know, it is symphonic metal, i guess :) It was a great reaction to a grand song. Thank you so much for it
Hey, finally a reaction to Imperial Age! They are a fantastic band, juxtaposing heavy metal and operatic vocals. This is nothing new, of course, but I really like the way they achieve it 🙂 They also have two great female singers who are fantastic, so I urge you to check out some of those songs. Cheers!
Never heard of this outfit until now. Russians are a long suffering people in an unforgiving land and ruled more often than not by brutal dictators. This piece carries echoes of that. Love your reactions as always, Sabina.
You are the only one who I have ever seen react to Imperial age, they are a great band and I very much appreciate what they have done by protesting about the Russian regime. I have followed them for a while now and like their music, to me they’re a bit like Epica but an this track (which I’d not heard before) a bit heavier perhaps. I enjoyed your analysis and you have earned a new subscriber, I shall look into some of your older reactions because I’m sure there will be some more that will appeal to me ❤️
