      Just a guess.
      When they practiced for the duels in prequel star war films, they used 'swords' made by attaching a long pole to the Lightsaber handle.
      I imagine this is why the fight moves look similar, because the 'sword' would have center of mass further from the handle, just like the montante.

      @@wutulike7861 Technique is used for all points above, but I never spin the great sword around when i'm using it. I'm just assuming they can't grapple, or close like way in, and half-sword stab for the body, cause that is what i'd be doing if someone was swinging there sword around like that. If you run at someone like that, with you're sword vertical, you can block any incoming strike if there sword is waving around in circles super high like that. Only spinning strike I ever do is waving the sword above, and behind my head briefly into a good 'ole leg chop. I don't have nearly the level of training at this particular practice tho, so I don't really have an understanding of why or why they don't do certain things.

      @bowmanruto 4 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      @@ethanmcqueen3548 having used a montante/greatsword multiple times I can tell you with utmost certainty that using longsword techniques douse not work, you can halfsword it ofcorse but thats about it, you especially can't grapple as you'd have to drop the sword entirely as the balance/weight of a montante is completely different form a longsword (montante's basically have the opposite balance of a rapier and heavy enough that practically no one can keep it in a guard position one handed) even holding a normal guard stance for any length of time tires you out completely so its best to keep the blade moving, secondly trying to statically block a montante with a vertical block with a longsword or even a montante is as difficult as statically blocking a longsword with a one handed arming sword so deflectional parry's are the way to go
      (p.s. just adding my observations to the discussion, not trying to correct you directly)

      All the montante things I've seen have thrusts worked in very often. Same with the german sources. I'm guessing they didnt just because getting hit with a thrusts hurts a lot more than a swing. I figured that our for myself with something as soft as a foam sword. The synthetic swords hurt enough that even after one day of practicing it we decided to hold off until we could get some hard chest protection. These were with one handed swords mind you. I don't even want to consider how much it sucks getting stabbed with a plastic montante.

    What's even the point of tap fighting?

    • @grainherstal1912
      @grainherstal1912 4 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Since the actual weight of the sword were 2.5-4 kg, and the spinning moves you see were actually for feinting and gaint torque and momentum, a single tap would give a major knockback

      the sword is too small for that girl? but you are dumb or what, the sword have the size of the girl, if were bigger she cant handle properly, the swords is not related with the weight of the fighter but with the height, and with the length of the arms, this girl clearly have troubles to handle this sword cos she is very short, with a bigger sword she practically cant lift and she will strike the ground in every movement
