@@redh3ndr1tz99 in TBBT, the group is always treating him like a person, most of all Penny, but they do get annoyed by him at times. I'm autistic, and my friends get annoyed by me as well, and act the same way. I don't see them as treating me badly, just as being annoyed.
Sure, it's way more exaggerated, and Sheldon doesn't officially have autism in the show, but it's a sitcom.

This was mostly because they just didn’t make a lot of official software copies for home computers back then, because at the time a lot of companies would SEVERELY underestimate the consumer demand for products, afraid that if they made more, no one would buy it.
which unfortunately lead to a lot of piracy and companies didnt put together in their collective heads that it was the lack of software copies that lead to it, if im not mistaken@@robertwyatt3912

Ah, the good old days of bootleg games. I had a bunch of those. I had a friend that went to pirate parties where they all copied each other's games. He had a Commodore SX-64 which made everyone else very jealous.

I was pirate too , when I was kid that was legal , then when I was teen it was illegal , so I did it because I had no cash... and because that was illegal , as adult I have pirate few games , but mostly to try game , as companie dont do demo version of games , I had few times viruses on my PC , but never from pirate games , mosly porn sites , but last time I had virus was like 2010.
It's definitely still going on 90% of school computers have some combination of Minecraft, Halo, and Counter Strike installed on them

It was because he left his hard drive in the computer, so it got corrupted together with the computer.

Somewhere in my house is a burned copy of the command and conquer nod disk.
My uncle was a computer systems analyst for a large company and in the 90s they got an industrial CD burner in order to transpose data on to CD.
The guys at the office decided that in order to see if it worked they would burn a copy of command and conquer.... My uncle didn't care for the game and so I got the disc and I have kept it as a prized possession; a testimony to the technology I've seen over the years.

No the is an actor named Micheal Croner. It's on the IMDB page for this episode. On the other hand one bit of Trivia I know about the 8 bit guy is his second cousin is Dimebag Darrel who was the guitarist for Pantera.

I mean... As a person from east Europe - most of the time piracy is the only way to get the software you need. And the best way to study professional software before actually purchasing it... In case it is needed for a licensed projects. In other case - company just shares cracked programs...
Sometimes I start to forget that pirating programs is actually bad. Because it brought so much joy for not spending money on bad products, trying it first or not spending money at all...

😂 this one is close to when Howard got his credential check by FBI. Sheldon got everyone into FBI's radar.
He should have used Pirate's Toolbox. That was one of the best ways to do it back in the day. It had a rudimentary virus checker in it.. nothing like what we have now, but then the viruses back then weren't really all that powerful (at least on home computers).

Well this brings back memories. It's been soooo long since I last saw a virus that actually did something noticeable. Last one was some kind of a store brand encryption extortion virus that didn't actually encrypt or lock anything and could be just alt+tabed out from and removed. Back in the day you had to install Windows XP without an internet connection and install virus protection from a CD because else you'd get MSBlast before you could finish setting up Windows, download virus protection and install it 😂
Back when floppies came out they had no idea how bad piracy would be. They had little to no anti piracy protection on the discs. So pirated copies were more common then official copies.
It makes sense that Sheldon loves any customer service line.

Heh I downloaded games for a “free trial” to make sure they were worth my hard earned pennies, and I did indeed purchase Skyrim eventually, after spending 300-400 hours on it using my old shitty laptop that barely put out 20 fps. Nowadays I have a nice custom built PC that’s never given me any issues, I’m proud of my selection of parts.
I never purchased a game. Here in India, it's considered a wasteful purchase, hence we have a lot of people trying to give away these cracked versions of games, so everybody can play. The fun fact is most computers in India back in the 2000s were running pirated versions of windows, not just personal ones but also the schools as well as the government ones.
