I was so excited to hear you discuss Sundial. While I struggled a bit getting through the middle of the story the payoff in the end was well worth it. What a unique story! It was so incredibly creepy and the domestic violence and animal cruelty were hard to read at times. It needs a trigger warning for sure but Catriona Ward is a great author and I look forward to checking out her other books!

Loved this…but I’m a horror fan. In the group you read I tried reading the Fervor but DNF’d it. I think I’ve given up on her books. And I really love historical horror. I thought it was slow and I didn’t get the sense of dread I expected. By the way I’ve been a Bram Stoker judge a few times. 😀 I haven’t done it in awhile, though. As for being 39…I’m 60 so you’re young enough to be my kid. LOL. As for Super Mario, loved the original movie from way back. I kinda wish I had a Switch but haven’t spent the money. 😀

Too bad you didn’t find any new favorites this way. I usually have a similar experience when I read nominees for other book prizes.
