    it may be helpful to specify that pepsinogen and HCl are coming from two different cell types (chief and parietal) just because the diagram would be misleading- but thats just being very detailed. Super helpful overview as always, please do lipids next!!

    Thank you for your illustration. So from this information would you say that for nutritional purposes we don't really need to absorb proteins while they maintain their secondary and tertiary structures? I am asking because many raw vegans argue that when we cook our food we denature the proteins. But from this illustration it seems like all we need from CONSUMED protein is amino acids.

    • @mr_goodguygibbens9767
      @mr_goodguygibbens9767 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Precisely. Your body synthesizes proteins by attaching amino acids to enzymatic biomolecules which then catalyze (with aid from other biomolecules) the connection of these amino acids in a specific sequence that is ultimately determined by your DNA. Vegans are screwballs, your body does not just replace old proteins with full-scale proteins that you ingest from meat, that's just silly :)

    • @rickicoughlan8299
      @rickicoughlan8299 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      When you actually learn a little more about nutrition and human physiology you'll probably want to retract the "vegans are screwballs" line.

      I have a question,
      So, I am still young (14 to 15), which means I still have time to think about it, but I think I would want to study: Biochemistry, Biomedicine, Genetics, Microbiology or Inmunology.
      But I haven’t decided yet because I don’t really know what jobs these study choices could give me nor what I am going to prefer in terms of study contents.
      Could you please tell me something about what you have been studying in Biochemistry? Or give me some advice?
      Thank you so much!!!

    Things are more complicated in the real world. As there are different antibodies to specific proteins in the blood, that means that not every protein is digested to single amino acids, but somehow gets in the blood as a whole protein. For example, if gluten would be digested into single amino acids, there will never be antibodies produced to cause celiac disease. Or did I get something wrong?

    I was given a question today. Does collagen supplements help produce more collagen in the skin? Well why can’t you just take protein powder with addition supplementing the most limiting amino acids such as tryptophan. Had to refresh some physiology and biochemistry. Perfect video for that. I needed to double check that a) proteins are fully/partially broken down to their amino acids b) and more importantly they are absorbed only as single amino acids. ( I saw the absorption in the cytoplasm as di but after further digestion only get reabsorbed as mono. Ok so pretty confident in declaring eating collagen is just as good as consuming a general protein powder with supplementing tryptophan. Would be very appreciative if someone pointed out anything I missed.

    Amazing ! Just in the last part i have a doubt, AA in its simple form prior to enter the plasma, the main transport still the secondary ion? Or it can be "the primary active transport, which in that case the use of ATP is required in order to enter the membrane and then to the blood stream. I'm dubious, thanks Armando
