  • Hi team,
Here's a review on our new SCSA Taipan X by the man himself Rod @ RJM Hunting Australia.
Rod covers over the following topics:
Quick rundown on the Australian made Taipan X .223 Pump action / Straight pull.
This model has a few upgrades over its predecessor, the Taipan Lite.
In this video I go over the new modifications and then send some rounds downrange.
Range testing yielded 1/2" groups at 50m and sub moa at 100m. Quite impressive out of the 16.5" barrel. I was shooting 55gr SBK Adi World class factory ammunition.
Overall this rifle will come into its own in scenarios where quick follow up shots are required on multiple targets such as mobs of pigs. The Taipan X is well balanced even with a suppressor hanging off the end of it. N.B ( I am licensed for suppressor use in NSW for all my contract work)
    Features:
Nice and compact rifle sporting a 16.5" threaded barrel
    Overall weight of 2.9kg
1 in 8 twist rate allowing the shooter to run heavier projectiles
    Comes with 2 x 10 round magazines
    Spring assisted pump action
    Case deflector
    Removable straight pull bolt handle

Looking forward to seeing out on a hunt Rodney. That will be the real test of how good it is.

Cool design, but i would love to see 2 new features
-better trigger or simply use the default AR-15 style triggers so people can upgrade as they want
-include a pump locking mechanism like any shotgun has, so the pump mechanism may only be racked after the gun has fired

Thanks for all the time and effort you put into your posts, it's really appreciated. Re the Arca tripod mount. Do I need to contact them direct or is that a retail aftermarket ? Thanks again.

I still prefer my Remington 7615. I hope they used better cerakote. My mates first gen was terrible.

Suppressors are widely available in Australia, different states have different restrictions check local laws.

Is it typical to have a pump action riffle or is it because of australian gun laws?

    • @ryanowie8121

Yeah it’s our laws , this company had to jump through sooo many hoops to make these, and I’m so glad they did!

I have a question about the pump grip - can it be changed to an after market option? Ie vertical grip?

Have our gun laws changed? I thought we couldn’t have silencers?
I guessing he has some kind of permit but last I checked it was absolutely no one can have them.

Is the 300 black out available ? I’m slowly stockpiling 300 black ammunition brass (genuine and modified 223) for my Ruger America or when I eventually get a lever or pump 300 blackout. I do like this rifle but after hearing about the poor guys that got sucked into testing the previous ‘prototype’ model, I’m reluctant to spend the money just yet.
Would love a 357 magnum pump, even a 9mm, much easier to load a box magazine than a tube of a lever.

they are illegal in QLD, legal in NSW and a few other places with permits

Touching the trigger with a mag and safety off

    • @ozscientia
      @ozscientia 9 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

Rifle doesn't allow bolt to go into battery when mag is empty, and it also has a bolt lock which is why the bolt is locked back.
