    hi patricia! i was wondering if you can make a video on trust funds? i am 30, no kids, don’t want any, but i am godmother to two wonderful children, and i want to build a small trust for them but i don’t know how to start. should i make a high-yield savings and deposit or is there another thing i should be doing? i just started my boss bitch financial journey this year so i’m a newbie. any help from comments are welcome too! thank you, ladies(and gents!) we’re gonna change the world!(edit: i’m in the u.s. 🥴 but i will take ANY lesson bc right now, my knowledge is null 🤣)

      The parents of your godchildren can open a Junior stocks and shares ISA for their children in the UK. This tax year 20/21 the maximum amount you can put in is £9000. Anyone can put money into such an account and the parents can choose how it will be invested. If they haven't got one set up you can help them research and get those children set for life.

    • @zoebicknell2200
      @zoebicknell2200 4 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Trust funds aren't really a thing in the UK in the same way, my godfather (and grandfather) have both passed away, but they were pretty smart guys and bought me children's bonds. Mine were NS&i but I'm sure Patricia could do a full video on bonds in general.
      They paid in x amount and that would gather interest and since my 16th my mum has been cashing them into my savings account for me (at 18 I could sign the papers myself). They've bought both my cars (cheapish secondhand and even thirdhand ones, no £30,000 mercs here lol), paid for my car insurance, and will boost my deposit for a house later down the line. They've given me a lot of freedom i.e. want to pay car insurance annually? Done. I can then pay it back to myself monthly without the interest the insurer would charge.

    Thank you Patricia. I was a self employed contractor who initially went through an umbrella company but then found out I could go through my own LTd. company and get all the benefits . . .not only did I pay for book-keeping which is all everyone said I needed, but because I know I’m not great I was paying an extra £200 /month for full accountancy. When I decided not to use them anymore I assumed they’d filed my last return. I buried my head in the sand when the brown letters kept coming through and ended up with with close to 16k debt. Luckily for most of that I had to just file paperwork to declare the business not running but those late fees got me too
    Wish I had someone like yourself who could’ve dropped some knowledge b4 hand

    For anyone going into Uni, please understand that overdrafts are a cushion. They're useful when money is necessary (i.e. rent) before your next student loan drops, it's like a mini interest free loan. But always keep an eye on it and pay it off before you graduate.

    I think paying cash for your car wasn’t a mistake at all. Getting a car note means you’re paying more than the car is worth because of interest while the car is depreciating. When you paid cash it still depreciated but without you paying interest. Hope that makes sense.

    I can actually say I never maxed out my student overdraft, I made sure to spend within my limit and stay out of it unless I couldn't help it which fortunately never happened. I knew I didn't want any more debt on top of my student loan debt, I just graduated (well tomorrow!) and I still have some student loan left to keep me going until I can secure a job

    A certified preowned car is the best option!!! It’s the best of both worlds - practically new car with often times warranty still in effect and you don’t lose as much money when you leave the lot.

I dont think I know any other influencer at this stage in her career who would share all this valuable information. This information is more valuable than random giveaways of stuff you'll use for 3 months and chuck in the bin. Loving it! Please keep the videos coming Lol! 💜💜💜

    I love the real talk you bring to these topics about finances. It is so easy to follow and understand as well. Thank you for being humble, open and transparent about the realities you've faced. It is such a misconception that influencers such as yourself have it all together. This is a huge reality check that you are just as human as the rest of us. Keep putting put the content. It's so useful and relatable.
