every city in the usa has its underdog, and some below the underdog.. usa changed drrastically after 1980..high rent, low wages, high priced food, dope...the razing of affordable housing in the duece, 2 st,below downtown..now a fancyt sports arena.. during 1963 ,one could lie down on central ave downtown,no traffic on sunday.. no problem...afterrnoon,clear.
Phoenix is the 5th largest city in the U S. Like most cities, it has run-down areas and industrial corridors. Like most cities, you will find homeless people, prostitution and crime. If you venture beyond the few blocks this video shows, you will find a vibrant downtown. You will also find beautiful public parks offering green spaces, water features and sculptures. Throughout the city, dozens of murals celebrate Phoenix' rich and diverse cultures. Museums are many and varied and are often free of charge. Historic districts are recognized and preserved. Public transportation is easily maneuvered, handicapped accessible and affordable. There are many theaters and other arts venues and each month, downtown Phoenix hosts a variety of activities via First Friday. One can find problems anywhere when they search, but I believe that, in Phoenix, the good far outweighs the bad.
