I was a driver for a freight company in the Bay Area and had a delivery to a address in Richmond. Pulled up to it and it was a fenced compound with crap all around and noticed the name on the invoice was D. Mann. A old guy came out and I unloaded a crate and he had no clue what it was or who had sent it. I helped him uncrate it and it was a old dilapidated flat track bike, he started checking it out then all of a sudden he froze and you could almost see him tear up as he realized what it was and memories of it started running through his mind. The sky was really blue the rest of the day for me👍
Good story 👍…I grew up in the Bay Area ,I Rode & Raced Moto there, then I saw Brad at a Race that He Put on at Sears Point, then I Saw him Again at Another Race in Marysville which we Both attended 5 yrs in a Row…got to know him Really good…Super cool dude 👍💥
Brad loaned my son his CZ while at Diamond Dons one year to race with, barely knew him ten minutes, he didn't know who Brad was and when he told me who loaned it to him he said some old guy serving drinks over there lol. Now he knows who it was. Love you Brad.
Met Brad in the pits at Saddleback after the 72 (maybe 73) Trans AMA, he had already changed into a bright blue hippy jacket and was drinking out of a boda bag. He became my hero and I became a diehard Lackey fan.
Awesome that Brad has his world championship bike and he shared with a lot of people that went to the AMA mesuem. That was a incredible display of factory bikes .
Saw Brad 2X; Unadilla Trans Am '79 & "80. If I recall he won in '79 on the Factory Kawi 500 and reced the new 250 Watercooler in '80. Was cool to see him get better each year in GP's. Years later he sat behind us at the '97 LA SX and bench raced with us the whole race. Legend

Between Brad and pomeroy they were the icons of American motocross.
Danny Laporte won the 250 World Championship a couple of weeks after Brad won the 500.
A worthy Champ.
What an incredible human. Passion. This guy pushed the envelope. I remember being scared of him. As “ Bad Brad “ now I see he is more B -rad.
