- Backpacking documentary as we travel through Panama, Colombia & Venezuela for 7 weeks.
This 2nd episode sees us travel through Venezuela for 2 weeks.
Our first stop is Canaima National Park where we take a 4 hour boat journey upstream to Angel Falls, the highest waterfall in the world.
Following this we travel down to Santa Elena to check out the Gran Sabana before doing the 6 day trek to the lost world of Roraima Mountain. Fans of the film 'Up' will recognise this mountain as it was the inspiration for 'Paradise Falls'.

So, I just had a realization watching these videos. The main reason I like them so much is because there are so many interactions with other people. There's so much life and I find myself smiling quite often. It's easy to tell from watching your video's why you enjoy travelling so much.

My heart is now set on Venezuela. I cannot believe something so beautiful exists, I was about to book to go after seeing this and they advise against travel to the country. I nearly cried 😂 😭 when you went was it the same advice or is it worse now?

Ah memories. I still believe the boat ride to Angel Falls in Canaima NP is the most beautiful place in the world. Even the memories of injuring myself almost identically on the way down from Roraima and hobbling into camp hours behind everyone else was great!

Hi Karl, is it possible to make a video in which you do a breakdown of the budgets that you used to backpack in Panama/Colombia/Venezuela and in China/Tibet? By this way we would get a better idea how much money we need to save in order to travel for a shorter period (compared to your Hk2NY series). Thanks and keep up the good work!

I think the color is tannins in the water leeching out of wood/trees. It's the same reason many lakes are very dark and my fish tank because of that damn piece of drift wood. It's also the same thing that often gives tea its color. Harmless, good even in some cases
