Roquea's one of those planets that feels really eerie, it's vaguely similar to Kerbin but at the same time totally inhospitable... and those ice spikes are genuinely terrifying, even if they were a bit buggy. The air balloon shots of the volumetric cloud layers and the view of Kcalbeloh in the daytime sky were amazing. One of these days I'll actually get around to installing a planet pack... someday. I don't know if you already know this, but the quirk of the Kcalbeloh modpack is that all the planet names are backwards versions of "normal" names. Kcalbeloh backwards is "hole-black," since it's a black hole, Arorua is "aurora", Sunorc is "Cronus", Maelg is "gleam", and Roquea is meant to be "aequor" despite the 'qu' letter pairing.

Yes, you're right thats confusing. Are you using the fission fragment engine’s afterburner mode? It is superior to the lower thrust mode in every way. It has higher TWR and gives you more delta V any day of the week!
I think I did switch on the after burning mode for circularizing around Roquea! The TWR is great and I packed some liquid hydrogen tanks along so I could use it. I didn't know that the ISP was better in after burning mode than the normal one! It's usually the other way around. I actually really liked this engine. It's great for smaller craft, but I could see it used for bigger ones & it's really easy to use. Thanks for the comment!
@@boguekerbalThe afterburner has a lower ISP but with proper fuel balancing(3 of the largest hydrogen tanks and a bit extra with the largest fission fragment tank) you burn for longer at higher thrust, so more delta v (3-4 times more depending on the payload)
Real pros use the nuclear fuel processor to make the FiP as they fly, allowing them to use the Asimov FFR to attain massive amounts of delta-v. 10,000,000 meters per second is easily attainable, allowing for proper “realistic” STL interstellar travel.
I just turn off the connection requirement in settings. For interstellar travel you'd essentially need automated robotics anyways because of the relativistic signal delay so that's how I justify it. Also you can't send a signal through the wormhole & the distances are outside of the range of the stock antennas. There are ways around it but I just turn off the connection requirement for ease.
Hey buddy! at 6:26, you are doing it all wrong, atleast, partly. Yes, Inclinations are more efficient the slower you travel, because the oberth effect works against you in this particular situation. What you should do is timewarp to the highest An/Dn and THEN bring it down to 0. When you burned Anti-Normal at apoapsis, and not on the Ascending Node, as you can see, you didnt fully bring it down to 0, and now you have brought both Node closer to the blackhole, making this inefficient. Sometimes, its even worth burning the complete opposite direction 90 degrees off a node, to bring a node slightly higher, so that you can neutralise it at a more efficient place. EDIT: [Alternatively, since inclination changes are costly, if you bring an An/Dn to the place of an orbit intersection, then you do not have to correct the inclination, you will simply enter the planet's SOI at an angle, which if you land on the equator, means that inclination changes are not needed] You could have also performed many gravity assists to make this entire trip practically free, although with the far future tech mod, i guess that isnt necessary. Hope this helps! feel free to ask more questions
Yeah, I know, I started the burn at apoapsis before reaching an ascending/decending node because I wanted to get it fairly close but not have to wait another full orbit to reach the furthest node. I had the extra fuel so I opted to cut down on the mission time with a less efficient maneuver. Thanks for the tips though! I've tried to do gravity assists to get all the way down to the black hole but it is highly impractical and takes hundreds and hundreds of years so far future is great for these missions!

real.
how do you use a drone? i can't make a strong enough signal for that
I just turn off the connection requirement in settings. For interstellar travel you'd essentially need automated robotics anyways because of the relativistic signal delay so that's how I justify it. Also you can't send a signal through the wormhole & the distances are outside of the range of the stock antennas. There are ways around it but I just turn off the connection requirement for ease.
Please what mods are you using for visuals
I am using EVE Parallax, & True volumetric clouds!
What mod is the air balloon from?
KerBalloons
Hey buddy! at 6:26, you are doing it all wrong, atleast, partly.
EDIT: [Alternatively, since inclination changes are costly, if you bring an An/Dn to the place of an orbit intersection, then you do not have to correct the inclination, you will simply enter the planet's SOI at an angle, which if you land on the equator, means that inclination changes are not needed]
You could have also performed many gravity assists to make this entire trip practically free, although with the far future tech mod, i guess that isnt necessary.
@@boguekerbal With enough Dv, any inefficiency can be ironed out ;)
@@gamerboy7224 Yeah man haha. overdoing it is the Kerbal way haha
I have this thing with my volumetric clouds install where the clouds look blurry when moving the camera, is there a setting i missed?
idk, mine actually does that too. I'll let you know if I figure it out
Install the unblur patch on ckan
@@Lubo735 oh snap thanks!!
@Lubo735 link?
Wait I realized unblur is for the UI🤦
