      I was kind of thinking the same thing. I could go for the marmoset diet. Minus the mealworms.

    • @Call-me-Al
      @Call-me-Al 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@Phlebas mealworms taste pretty ok roasted, including on salads. Buffalo worms taste really good roasted, though. So I imagine if you did the garlic oil thing with the veggies and then mixed in roasted buffalo worms, it would be really tasty.

    How do you have enough time for all the animals. I've watched like 20 videos and each video is a new animal. How are you able to have a routine with all the different exotic pets?

    • @DonnaBrooks
      @DonnaBrooks 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Those aren't her pets. Having exotic pets is cruel and contributes to the extinction of animal species in the wild. These are rescue animals. And IDK how they do all that either! It's amazing! They must not get much sleep!

    I have two question: 1. Where do you get your fresh produce? Do you look for organic or is it just the normal fruits and veggies we can get from the grocery store? (I have this mental image of you going shopping and coming out with like 15 bags of yams and bananas :)) 2. Have you ever considered putting a webcam in any of the animals encloses? I know some zoos do. I don’t know if that would be ok for the animals or a big production for you to deal with but I do know I’d enjoy getting to peak in on some of the ambassadors more frequently. I love watching these videos. Hope you have a great day!

    • @jcreptiles6276
      @jcreptiles6276 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      ManosTheOne When foods are referred to as organic, it depends on the type of food. Organic plants are grown without pesticides or synthetic fertilizer. Organic meats and dairy are from animals fed organic feed and raised without hormones or steroids. Buying organic fruits and vegetables is important for small pets like birds and rodents because the pesticides that regular fruits and vegetables are grown with can kill them or at least make them sick, they aren’t good for humans either.

    Wow she is so so beautiful... you’re doing such a wonderful job with her.. I am one who truly with all my heart believes that monkeys should never be kept in captivity as pets. I am so so happy you (as a rescue) have her. But I see them for sale at expos and things as tiny babies and it breaks my heart. People have no idea how much they need to be happy and even then they are never as free and happy as In the wild. Thank you for this wonderful video. 💗

    • @Mardavj
      @Mardavj 6 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      It wouldnt survive on its own in the wild. This is the next best option. Jessie only accepts animals that wont survive in the wild on their own due to something or the other

    • @melissasmith6762
      @melissasmith6762 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Of course it wouldn't survive, it is a pet. There is no option to obtain and keep animals that can be released. The question remains, ho w is this any different?

    • @Mardavj
      @Mardavj 6 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      I dont think you understand the situation at all. Pets in this case would be monkeys that are stolen from the wild and/or bred in captivity and then sold as pets which people buy for their pleasure. Jessie rescues such animals who in most cases due to the complexity and the challenges of keeping a monkey are returned by their owners (discarded like trash). She works to give them a better life for their benefit. There is an mountain of difference between a pet and rescue when you talk about a exotic species. Please inform yourself before making a comment which makes zero sense.

    • @melissasmith6762
      @melissasmith6762 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I keep exotic pets, and I've written about this topic extensively. I suggest you not insult my intelligence. My point is that she's keeping the monkey as a pet, "rescue" or not. Any average person can keep a monkey like she does or 'give it a better life'. Monkeys are not the only animals that get discarded or are treated poorly, that can apply to ANY animal. My dog is a 'rescue' and is also a pet. There is no mountain of difference, maybe an anthill.

      Donna Brooks the one and only! When I was in my teens, I lived in Ballard Wa for a little while, and walked to the zoo. In those days there were many entrances and me and my boyfriend went there when it was closed. The orangutans were kept in a small barred indoor/outdoor run that was separated from the walking path by a short steel fence. The large male was reaching for a bamboo branch outside of the cage that seemed just out of his reach-so I stepped over the fence and bent the branch to him so he could grab it, but instead of grabbing the Branch, he grabbed my hand! It was an unforgettable experience to have that enormous gentle hand holding my own. I was a bit frightened, and he didn’t hold on but for a moment and I quickly got out of his much greater reach. Great zoo.

      I agree, I wish Mimi wasn't already an adult who came with the report that she didn't get along with others when we took her in. I would have loved to see her living happily in a troop. This is the unfortunate result of monkeys in the pet trade purchased by uneducated owners.

    Hello. So I was wondering, so I just bought a 6 month old Alexandrine Parrot and the guy I bought him from was very clear that the parrot was friendly and was already hand raised and that it would be easier for me to handle him. But now, whenever I put my hand in the cage he charges so I take my hand out and I try giving him some sunflower seeds just to confront him and then try again. But it never works. So what do I do for him to actually like me

    Hi If you don’t mind I have a few questions and I am looking for people who take care of capuchin and marmoset so I could confirm with them I am in the process of searching about them so let me first tell you a little bit about myself I am a 19-year-old girl in college at the end of this year or the beginning of the year after we (my family and I ) are going to move to our new house it’s bigger than the house we are currently living at so that’s why I decided to wait before getting any pet so I want to know a few things do they require a lot of exercise and space like capuchin and do they transfer to humans some disease cause I Heard from someone that some primates like capuchin do and what is it like taking care of him is it hard and many say that once they reach puberty they are hard to maintain and if finally if you have anything you would like to say that you didn’t know before getting him and if there is any advice or something I would be grateful to you

    Remember, everyone, this is not a pet, & she's not a performing monkey! Jessi is not teaching her tricks. She's getting her used to a harness so that Mimi can be safely taken outside her enclosure for more stimulation & to take her to schools, etc. for AWM's EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS about the animals.
    Wild animals (bears, elephants, big cats, monkeys, etc.) should not be kept as pets or made to perform for human amusement. Please don't purchase live animals or in any way support the exotic pet trade, wildlife trafficking (live animals or animal "products" like ivory, rhino horn, pangolin scales, or bear bile), or circuses or street performers with wild animal acts. Even for animals that survive capture or breeding and transportation, it's a lifetime of stress, keeping them as prisoners, forcing them to do unnatural things & preventing them from engaging in their normal behaviors that would meet their needs for space, proper habitat & diet, & social interactions with others of their species.

    It's amazing to see a professional animal handler work with a subject in a way that shows absolute care and dedication to the animals well being and happiness. She's so careful to keep the animal at ease, and make sure it understands her intentions to the best of her ability. I think gaining an animals trust and to have it be absolutely comfortable around you is one of the most fulfilling experiences for a human being.

    Is it true once they crawl onto you, like your shoulders. You can’t remove them because they get angry? Like you have to wait for them to come down? When I lived in Houston I’d go to Traders Village and they had these there. That’s what the people holding them were saying. I didn’t wanna do it, I was afraid Beto didn’t know how long the Marms would want to visit. Anyone know what that’s about? Cute but ??.....no☺️☺️

    I have to post a comment about this women. She taught me something that I never thought about. That my solitude and my introverted life is not an uplifting or motivating factor. My conscious state of being is a reflection of my lifestyle. "Conscience" it's nothing but a matter of will but this is not an intrinsic trait that I myself can use naturally.😟
