@@TeddyMonka-d1gI don’t think Harris’s platforms were bad by any means. If anything her plan to address price gouging, progressive tax plan, etc would have done more for everyday Americans than Trump’s policies. The issue is that the 2024 race was won not by the issues, as I’ve learned in recent weeks, the majority of voters didn’t even know the issues/platforms addressed by either candidate. Essentially the election was won by marketing and promises. It was won from the podium. And the Dems have had a problem since Obama of candidates with charisma and an ability to be relatable to the core demographics of America. And while I hate to say it, we may want to rethink a female candidate as president. We’ve swung and missed twice. It doesn’t seem like something America is ready for or frankly anyone that Independents and GOP voters will swing for. We also need to do as he says and reinvest in getting to the heartland more readily. We’re out of touch with the issues there and we need to start listening.
6:31 David has a point about "investing" at the local level. It is what the Republicans have been doing since the day Obama was elected : Putting money and candidates into "local" elections - starting with school boards and county commissions, working up to state wide offices.
I'm going to be 80 , God willing, this coming September. I'm old, I'm on the way out, and even as I might be able to apply some words of wisdom, people like David are the ones that are going to be here in 30 years and will be dealing with the world WE leave them and that world has a whole bunch of problems. The worship of celebrity, wealth, the accumulation of things and "stuff", the making it OK to use others to lie and cheat to get what we want, the lack of consideration for the very planet that houses us, the planet that is our home, the planet that is the ONLY place we can live, has made a very difficult future for people like David. Young , smart, bright, aware, yes WOKE people (woke means AWARE) that want to get into the mess and work to make their world better need to take their place and make their voices heard, and WE old people need to get out of the way and the young will take the reigns. The problem is there are so many people with 5 to maybe 12 years left here that "don't have enough" and they truly think they can "take it with them". The greedy, corrupt, souls need to move aside.

I was royally PO'd @ Pelosi with her recent disrespect for AOC ! NANCY NEEDS TO BOW OUT, at least these young people fully are aware of the changes needed and have the intelligence to do better for the future of our country. When I Can I contribute to their endeavors.❤
I agree with David. It's long overdue for change in the democratic party. AOC also should not have to wait until she's 50 before she can get a leadership position -- she is already a leader.
The problem is that many democratic voters born before 1981 feel that many of these younger candidates are too radical and don’t have enough experience. This is why most of the Democratic Party is an old folks home.
@@r.pres.4121 In order to “bring a gun to a gun fight and not a steak knife”, RADICAL is just what the Dems need to confront the RADICAL Republican MAGA Party💪🏽
I AM an older person who greatly advocates for a younger generation to take charge. We absolutely need this while integrating the experience and wisdom of elders as consultants and for guidance
He IS exactly right! I live in Florida too and our DEM party is a JOKE! There are SO many dems here in our state and the investment is not! This young man should most definitely considered for the position he is vying for. The future of our people depends on this transition of power.
We will never get there until voters feel like the party is looking out for them, and represents them. Having minority members is fine, but they need to be able to communicate with the voters. Do a TH-cam search for House minority leader Hakeem Jeffries and post-election comments. You'll see what I mean.
Problematically many movers and shakers in the Democratic Party are, much like all of their Republican colleagues, taking bribes from the insurance lobby. I think that's one of the major reasons that all we ended up with during Obama's "healthcare reform" phase was the ACA. The Dems didn't fight back against the predatory insurance companies, they simply expanded their customer base.
The DNC needs to do one major thing: That is get our own tv programs, our own radio programs, and our own social media platforms that promote our message. Stop begging to be on mainstream media platforms because they are not going to give Democrats the airtime that we need to get our message out there to the masses.
Will disagree. Democrats need to stop with the Woke agenda and concentrate on bread and butter issues that cross party lines. Trouble is the indoctrination through the education system has the very vocal new generation far to the left of most people.
If there's one thing they need to do it's to grow a spine, stop bowing to the whims of the Capital class, and actually work for the People of this country. The DNC is only slightly less corrupt than the GOP.
I do not know who gets to vote for these positions. I, at 71 who moved to retire in west Kentucky 2006, am all in for GenZ, David Hogg and the basic idea being underscored here in this video. We must think clear and thorough and live in 2024, not 1999. Innovation and strength are paramount.
Frankly, we need the innovation and strength of GenZ right now, Gen Alpha mindful and Millennial savvy. Also, issues need more mobility. Also we have a major problem with state governments being held hostage to special interests and 19th century thinking. This is not good. I have to be mindful that the leadership at the DNC covers national, state, local, and territories. Wherever we have elections, participation across generations is an imperative; especially in the 21st century. Legacy fetters need the boot. As with what I am seeing with GenZ, especially when elected, mentoring future leaders begins immediately. There are a lot of ropes to learn. Uplift tirelessly.
David, I would like very much to hear more about what you say regarding mental health and education for young men. I have always advocated for these; it is in this election cycle that I was completely stunned by how large a set of issues this is; I could barely believe the numbers, it was so staggering. The US population has become HUGE in my lifetime (having more than doubled in these past 71 years.) However, the accommodation for meaningful lives for us all has not kept pace. The quality of education has been rough for decades and the willingness to let students fall through the cracks has been rife. Appallingly rife. The obsession with forcing low wages and having low wage workers trapped in their job status is criminal. The list goes on. We probably need 100 US Senators and 1000 US House of Representative Members.
I am an old person and I do not watch television. I catch some of these clips in video, when there is someone speaking directly to issues and across generations. Otherwise, I am proactive in social media following global news, national news, state news, and innovative voices, both elected and the diverse groups and individuals politically engaged.
the old need to help the young come into this party and stop trying to rule over the party we all get old and will always need to teach the younger ones and give them their knowledge to keep r freedom alive
I hope David gets that Vice Chair! We desperately need young leadership in this flailing party. We've got the best ideas but the worst strategy - a new perspective would be a game changer.
David is the voice of the future voter. He has experienced so much in his young life. He has the strength and courage to take on the GOP. The ironic part is MTG created him. Her harassment of him gave him the confidence and the energy to do it. I would love to see David go all the way. He is going to the White House and he can get it done.
Respectfully MSNBC, I have a memory long enough to remember that the last time a democratic candidate had a large number of young male supporters, in Bernie Sanders, that we were specifically maligned as Bernie bros by your pundits on your channel. You sent a very clear message that we weren’t wanted in the party and that our votes were not needed. I stayed and I voted to down the Dem down the line in every election I could, but I know a lot of men would gave up on the party because you outright rejected our political interests. We want Bernie style politics that will stand against the big money interests in support of radical changes because our economy is NOT working for us. Young men want a chance at building a future, including someday buying a home and not being in student or medical debt. It isn’t complicated.
That is correct...media such as msnbc do not step far from the neo-liberal box. They maintain narratives that are overseen by management and the wealth of their advertisers...they do not rock the economic boat, and to be honest, all main stream media is the same, in that regard. They were not as bad in 2020 as in 2016, because in 2020, even the status quo did not want trump back. In 2024 a large and very wealthy segment of the status quo were not so intolerant of trump, these are the billionaires now lining up to fund his inaugural, and the ones that funded his campaign. I think trump would have lost by a sliver, had Musk stayed out of the fray. But, in the end, the election was the Harris's to lose...she just would not step out of the DNC box...as this young man states, the current narratives are not working for the Dems, with the youth and working class voters.
I am one of the members of the Boomer generation and those of us I speak to are ready for the change David Hogg brings. The DNC has a wonderful opportunity for change; and change we must. Those that have campaigned that our lives and democracy depend upon the Democratic Party are correct…. It’s just that the change must include energy and ideas and articulate individuals of those such as David Hogg and AOC. Now is the exact time to do this.
We are in desperate need for new ideas with a fresh fire for democracy!!!! Let their voices be heard! If we want them to be involved, let them participate!

The problem with the dems is not age. It's ideology. The age issue didn't help Kamala.
@@TeddyMonka-d1g
Age and ideology has nothing to do with it.
Dems arent the alt right. Lol
His dad works for the FBI
6:31 David has a point about "investing" at the local level. It is what the Republicans have been doing since the day Obama was elected : Putting money and candidates into "local" elections - starting with school boards and county commissions, working up to state wide offices.
And now even the ballot counters/certifiers...
The Republicans have been working on local elections for the past 40 years
But republican voters hate the republican party, that's why they chose Trump. They don't think he's part of the establishment.
yep
we need to repeat the mantra
LOCAL ELECTIONS ARE IMPORTANT!!
Except david himself made headlines all about the country and not caring at all about local law abiding gun owners. So he can kick rocks.

Yes....DAVID HOGG...for Vice Chair in the Dem chair...he brings more than his AGE....full in for David....and I am 75. IT IS TIME....
💯
he's got good sense and he brings the receipts. Of course, that doesn't persuade the MAGA crowd either.
Given that he's roughly the same age as many of the founding fathers were, I think it's about time.
I am proud of david. He has come a long way.
From your mouth to God's Ears sistah Pamela! I am a Diva and like you, I am ashamed by what we're leaving our children. Time limits for All 3 branches of gov. "Rome" burns as our leaders worship at the altar of $$$/Power.
Sometimes you have to make hard decisions. We need new blood in our party. The old ones are blocking progress, we need to move forward to the future.
It's not just that. A lot of changes are also needed in the news media, whether on TV or online or anywhere else. MSNBC has a lot to answer for. They have been leading the pro-corporate, centrist charge for years. The so-called "progressive" news network has been anything but. Now that they're in deep financial trouble, I expect they'll finally change their ways, but only because they're forced to.
Some former SCOTUS Clerks have a few things to say:
President-elect *Donald Trump should be disqualified under the Fourteenth Amendment's Insurrection Clause* when Congress gathers to certify the results of the 2024 election, wrote Evan Davis and David Schulte for The Hill.
The two former Ivy League law review editors, who also previously clerked for Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart, freely acknowledge the odds of this happening are basically nil - but laid out their most compelling case that Congress does, at least, have clear power and duty to do make this decision, were it so inclined.
"Disqualification is based on insurrection against the Constitution and not the government. *The evidence of Donald Trump’s engaging in such insurrection is overwhelming.* The matter has been decided in three separate forums, two of which were fully contested with the active participation of Trump’s counsel," they wrote. Those three forums were Trump's second impeachment trial, a state court ruling in Colorado, and the bipartisan House January 6 Committee.
The Supreme Court shot down efforts by state election officials to disqualify Trump on the basis of insurrection earlier this year, Davis and Schulte noted - but all they ruled was that that isn't the correct venue to disqualify a presidential candidate, NOT that Trump did not engage in insurrection. The majority did suggest federal legislation was necessary to establish this as a basis, but only as non-binding dicta - and "this overreach is a power grab which Congress is not required to credit."
The Electoral Count Act, which was just updated in 2022, "specifies two grounds for objection to an electoral vote: if the electors from a state were not lawfully certified or if the vote of one or more electors was not 'regularly given,'" they continued. "A vote for a candidate disqualified by the Constitution is plainly in accordance with the normal use of words 'not regularly given.' *Disqualification for engaging in insurrection is NO DIFFERENT from disqualification based on other constitutional requirements such as age, citizenship from birth and 14 years’ residency in the United States."*
Ultimately, Republicans who control Congress won't allow this to happen, they concluded. "But Democrats need to take a stand against *Electoral College votes for a person disqualified by the Constitution from holding office* unless and until this disability is removed. No less is required by their oath to support and defend the Constitution."

Dems have been. Biden was the most pro-worker, pro-average citizen potus we've had since Johnson. But the media doesn't cover this. Even those who try to stay informed via other sources can't name more than 2 or 3 major things he did even though there are dozens.

David Hogg needs to go home and stay out of American politics! He’s part of the problem ..
Thank you for telling the truth!

I agree with David. It's long overdue for change in the democratic party. AOC also should not have to wait until she's 50 before she can get a leadership position -- she is already a leader.
Dems need to get out of the pockets of corporations and billionaires, retire the gerontocracy, and run on a progressive platform.
💯
The problem is that many democratic voters born before 1981 feel that many of these younger candidates are too radical and don’t have enough experience. This is why most of the Democratic Party is an old folks home.
@@r.pres.4121 In order to “bring a gun to a gun fight and not a steak knife”, RADICAL is just what the Dems need to confront the RADICAL Republican MAGA Party💪🏽

Hope he gets the job need major push for single payer healthcare system and free daycare for working families.
Good for you, David. Go for it!
We need a breath of fresh air.
There needs to be a mix of generations to succeed…
Thank you. There has to be a balance.
Yes but to get that balance we have to start supporting young leaders. We're in NO danger of being short on elders.
Mainstream media gives most airtime to Democrats. You are watching Democrats on mainstream media right now.
Exactly!!
And what exactly is the democrat message?
If there's one thing they need to do it's to grow a spine, stop bowing to the whims of the Capital class, and actually work for the People of this country.
The DNC is only slightly less corrupt than the GOP.
This change has to be free from aipac influence.
David has a lot of good points.
Not enough! Need to rebrand before this 12 is up! If not the red would split into 2 and leave blue as an afterthought! Obsolete!!
As long as the party cares more about rich donors than they do about working class Americans age is not going to make any difference.

But hogg is obsessed with age.

I am glad to see I am here posting among many older generation voters; saying yes to the premise being put forward. 🤠
I think it's the members of the DNC who get to vote. Hopefully they elect him as vice chair, fingers crossed they have the sense to do it

The youth is the hope of the Motherland.
