This train is the 0 series KODAMA that ran on November 29. 0 series KODAMA finished use on November 30. 0 series HIKARI was run as the special train on December 6, 13 and 14. We can never actually see any longer the scene which 0 series runs.
Great video thank you. Sounds like a very special series. Original ":bullet train" and also what a record they have in safety and reliablilty. These videos give me a feeling of home sickness. In other words how much I miss visiting or staying in Japan.

I hope that a fully preserved 6 car unit of the O series that can be run on JR tracks for Heritage runs to show SHINKANSEN History,and not just stuck in museums as single car exhibit.
Hello!(^o^) Right. Shinkansen train in this video is called "series 0" (Zero-kei). This Shinkansen train withdraws November 30, 2008 at the end, and is disassembled. Series 0 was born in October, 1964. So many people were carried for 44 years without resting every day. We can watch this Shinkansen only several days. Therefore, so many people have gathered. I'm wishing that you're able to come to Japan and take the Shinkansen some day. Have a nice week!
Hello! Thanks for your comment. 3216 cars of Shinkansen "series 0" ware manufactured from 1964 to 1986. They are 201 unit when computed from one unit 16. Series 0 is registered as "Mechanical Engineering Heritage." in Japan. First cars (front face) has already been exhibited in National Railway Museum in your country(UK), at many museums in Japan, and are kept in Hamamatsu of JR Tokai in Japan.
2) All the car that are not preserved are vandalized for scrap metal. I don't know whether this train preserves movement. The body width of the Shinkansen is wide, so this train can run only on the railroad track of the Shinkansen. If it runs again at one time, it costs the maintenance expense. But, I hope for the movement preservation only 1 or 2 unit. Have a nice day!! (^o^)

世界に「Shinkansen」という名を知らしめた偉大なトレイン。本当にこの功績は偉大だと思います。焼け野原にされ、核兵器まで投下され、何もかも失った日本。しかしその20年後にこのような素晴らしい列車が誕生することを世界の誰が想像しただろうか。奇跡としか言いようがありません。そしてその列車が今日まで走り続けた。本当に感動的です。
