Can't believe you've played it with JP dub. One of the main feature of r1999 is having an actually decent and sometimes really good english dub, and the story is actually interesting to listen to, instead of defaulting to turning voices off completely or ignoring the weird anime blabbering, like I usually do.
the english dub was also recorded first for this game. thats why all of the chinese promotional videos have used the english dub even before global was announced. english has always been the intended language for this game.
@@_makoperfect! Now I can appreciate the English voices even more knowing that they are intended to be enjoyed in English
the english voice over for this game is nuts
Never in my life did I think I'd willingly choose the ENG dub for a game like this but it's really quite fantastic and adds some flavour to the game. I actually feel quite bad for people who didn't get to hear Schneider's ENG VA. Sara Alexander absolutely popped off in her portrayal.
Talking about Reverse: 1999 and not mentioning the english dub is a crime because oh my God, everything sounds so GOOD
I honestly don’t understand why you did JP voice. I know it’s odd but the English voice over is actually top tier for a change.
That’s the main reason why I got so invested in this game because the voice actors are so good but I guess people want JP voice for anime feel
most people wanna distance themselves from cringe, by using language they don't know
@@blanket4540 ???? The english voices (which are the default EVEN IN CN) are like one of the things i’ve heard consistent praise for, wdym “most people think this dub is ass”
@@blanket4540totally wrong
I don't care if YOU think the dub is ass, but saying that most people do is wrong, like even just look at the comments, there's a lot of praise for the EN/Default voices
Absolutely loving this game. The art style, the voice acting, the strategic game play, the lack of RNG gear farming, and the intriguing story have got me hooked! Glad to see bigger name creators start covering it as I hope it really takes off and thrives.
Lmao if anything there are TOO MANY smaller CCs picking up the game atm...
It is what it is...but at least we get awesome worldbuilding and storytelling with some decent or even good gameplay on top!
I have deep respect for bluepoch for listening to the player base.
exact review, it is a solid quality game so far, awaiting more Vertin
This game successfully make me care about the story, and they still have skip button
Still didn't touch the skip button yet
Also I'd argue they hide the skip button better, I might accident click it since it so close to pause/play button
Great video!
The game is good and all, but one thing to note here: the game is one of the gacha games that gives a solid English VA in majority of the script. They are some hiccups here and there (like Sonetto not being expressive enough in her voicelines) but then, it still reels me in with this game fr. Whats more, some have different dialects too.
I honestly wanna play this game, it seems so fun and amazing.
it is so go reroll Goodluck!
Make sure to keep the audio in English. Can't recommend it enough!
Do it! I’m recommending it. I doubted it at first but when I started playing, I got delightfully surprised.
Arcana is just blue Makima
and i'm all for her stepping on me too
I Hope she’s playable one day 😅
When the villain is hot, you're in for a ride.
This game is just audio porn
because he dididn't play with english voicelines. talk about being a matrixed weeb.
@@mistral9950 uh no, thats not what i meant at all
the advanced tutorial guide in this game is f*cking hard. a soul torture both in a good and a bad way.
that made me think that i should learn how to read fr
you should do a video on a project moon game
your experience of this game could have been better with english dub its perfect. but thats just my opinion.
Funny how I got a reverse:1999 ad in this video
Limbus next?
Playing this game without en voices removes half the fun for me
If you can, please review punishing gray raven, it got one of the best combat and story (the early arc is not as good though, the story got really-really good are from the ‘surviving lucem’ arc
What’s the name of that song? It’s so good!!!
I forgot but you can find the songs in the official TH-cam of reverse 1999
Unexpected Storm, otherwise known as Vertin's EP.
Thanks so much!
@@BennyManny-vf4hi of course! 👍
Your experience of the game is not as good as it could have been. The English voice acting is significantly better than the Japanese voice acting, and it sets the atmosphere and mood way better. The English voice is also the original voice
Fr, it's perfect for the game
But as with any other game with multiple VO language options, we're still free to choose whichever we want to hear
@@Syiepherzethat's right, but the original voice typically has more care and time put into it
@@normalpair Oh yeah absolutely, it's the closest to the developers' vision too
@@Syiepherzerefreshing because genshin is original voiced in Chinese, meaning that their lip syncing for English voices is weird. Reverse 1999 seems to have good lip syncing. (It doesn't actually matter, but it is cool)
@@normalpairthe original voice was English you know that right?…
You made a phinies and pherb refrance 😮😂❤🎉
Ace Combat / Project Wingman review plz
as somoene who plays project moon games,
so you have a motha!
Great video, but did you really need to spoil the whole story XD? wouldn't the first chapter be enough?
>video with spoiler warning
>looks inside
>spoilers
@@CDVermilion I didn't get spoiled because I already cleared everything, but usually when people mention spoilers, they don't just show you the whole thing.
@@CDVermilionNice video but it just felt like a "first impressions" video would have been catered more towards a new player audience than those who already played through the game.
Giving a huge tldr of the entire story BEFORE you started on the gameplay elements felt really odd.
so 7ds combat genshin gacha ,arknight lvling system not sure what i missed
Man instead of pretending to know how a game is why not just try it. I hate mfs that is so quick to bring up other game names to belittle something new
@@KodexKat he is right though
@@KodexKatHe's just comparing, I don't see any signs of belittling
prez is best waifu and you know it
You had to play it in English it’s too good to not experience
So the gameplay is just card battles between visual novel segments, there's nothing else? Any side quests/stories? Besides of course menu gameplay, with gacha, leveling, etc and resource (auto)farming to do more menu stuff.
Seems like a great visual novel to watch though sometime, though, with the gameplay cut out.
the game weight heavily on story. but definitely has side quest & story, mini games, endgame. even the side quest still tied on story or story like side quest. it's like modern version of fgo
Bruh, you want sidequest already? Why can't we stick to a really well developed main quest for now, and get side quest later? As others mentioned, the combat is extremely well designed.
Short answer: Yes but also no.
Long answer: the game does have mini-puzzles, problem-solving shenaningans and secret contents think Arknights but you have to manually write stuffs instead of doing certain things to unlock (aka you read the story, see a number and write them into a blank box when it does come up).
So if you are looking for an entire different gamemode like RTA in E7, or some absurd shits like Co-op in Genshin then yeah R1999 is just not for you. The game DOES NOT have any sorts of PVP whatsover in any form if you are in it to flex your account then don't bother, because the only place people can see your whale stuffs is... on social media.
let's be real. reverse 1999 is basically just a visual novel with a cpl of side mini games and a gacha system. the true gameplay of reverse 1999 is micromanagement. there's no real gameplay here. even the combat itself feels like a mini game there's no real "strategy" involved in combat imo
no deck building or such things, because incantation cards are RNG. speed is a non-existent concept, because you'd always go first. just build your characters, get better stats and you'd steamroll everything, because every harder levels so far are just DPS check. yes, even the limbo levels of artificial somnambulism.
farming is a pain in the ass because how scarce the energy needed with its eternally slow regen. to make it worse, most materials drops from levels are RNG. even if i did pay money for energy, it'll all gone in like 5 minutes
ps: i got to level 33 and have spent a cpl of dollars on the game, so i have the confidence to say that i know how the game works at least on a surface level. this definitely a biased take, but that's just my personal opinion of the game. the game does have gorgeous art direction, but the core gameplay is still lacking for my taste
How are you playing the game? My experience is significantly different than yours. I am curious why you say that there is no strategy. If every action is random, it is a good thing because it forces you to work with the skills that you have.
What do real strategy looks like for you? (I mean, qualifications for it to become a real strategy???)
the game feels like modern version fgo tbh. it's straight forward and meant to be story based game, the charm point of this game also story delivery, voiceover, lore influenced by real life event. for any lore enjoyer, definitely top 3 pick. can't really sweaty on this game, tough you can if you want to but feels wasting time to sweating the game
tbf pretty much every turnbased gacha game is dps check, unless something like atelier series game (paid game) where you must craft item to buff, debuff or attack and the items depends on your playstyle
@@normalpair I got to level 33. I have 5 different 6* units with a cpl of duplicates, only 3 of them are at max level. I cleared all Surface level of Artificial Somanmbulism, cleared 4 stages of Limbo level. I can say with confidence, I know how the game works at least on a surface level
Random cards will definitely force you to make tougher decisions with very limited options, but that's not strategy. The RNG is the only thing that makes the combat feels "strategic" despite it having no real strategic approach. The only thing you need to do is just simply mix matching to fit the puzzle, deploying team comps with the right counter elements and well built DPS, Support, and Sustain units
And also, you'd always go first so it doesn't really matter. Especially if u have more than enough combat power to kill every enemies even before they have the chance to attack you
@@Christian-CTDC for me, good turn based games should offer various tactics to approach combat. not simply just out damage your way out every levels. take speed approach for example, which is something that usually presents in a turn based combat games. speed related stats is important because it'll dictate the flow and pacing of combat, something that this game doesn't have. the game has some interesting mechanics like poison status that deals damage on each turn and stays for a certain number of turns, but the game often encourages you to finish the battle with less turns. which is basically the current meta in the game rn
the only thing that has some form of speed related mechanic or something similar in this game is merging your cards often to gain full bar moxie to cast ultimate faster. or someone like An-an Lee's that has a passive skill which will let her gain higher star skill incantation card every 2 turns automatically
if the combat will always let you move first, you'd just need to out damage the enemies and kill them before their turn or anticipate every incoming attacks with any form of sustain related skills. it takes time and a lot of grinding, but there will be a point where u should've already built your units in a more ideal state. but once you got there, it'll even be more easier to play the combat. you just need to set up your team line up with the right afflatus that fits the puzzle
"I dont think 6 stars are so much better than 5 stars"
Spoilers alert: THEY ARE! 5 stars in this game are trash mostly in CN 6 stars are the way to go because they are broken (some of them) and fundamentally changes how the game is to be played, namely Tooth Fairy and Changeling. So yeah, if you really think 6 stars in this game aint better than 5 stars then I am sorry, but you will have to think AGAIN as this game revolves around 6 stars mainly.
Charlie P3 is literally ranked higher than other star-afflictus 6-stars in CN.
Bkornblume?
Uuh bkornblume?sonetto?charlie???

Why though?
I'm not gonna start an argument.
Tell me why, I'm listening.
@@kalimbers1475
The general artstyle, UI, gacha mechanics are just lifted from Arknights
Using chibis in 2023 is just uninspired and lazy
Combat is slow even for a turn based game
