Just hitting the button every time getting into the car is much easier than your suggested "tricks" in my opinion. Yes, it's annoying but you get used to it after time. Get into car, shut door, start car, hit auto stop/start button, put on seatbelt, put car in drive and go.
I agree. It makes it slightly difficult for me teaching young adults to drive. Navigating that extra step when learning to drive makes it a little annoying
Thanks for the helpful info! I was wondering if the button to disable that stupid Auto Stop/Start system needs to be pushed BEFORE putting the car in Drive 👍🏼
I personally think that is actually a good button as people will have another option to choose from. Stop-start can help you save petrol for 20-25% in general. If you really don't like it, just turn it off. Easy.
Thanks for the clarification. I've had the engine completely shut off on me twice when the light turned green, and the people behind me were not happy!
You pull in your driveway and stop and the car dies. You put it in park and the car starts. Then you turn it off to go in the house. How stupid is that?
As you pull up to a stop, turn the steering wheel a few degrees off centre and the engine will keep running. There must be a sensor that doesn't allow it to turn off if it thinks it is going around a corner. Doesn't need to be turned a lot.
I just installed the auto start stop eliminator. Cost $99 and took 10 minutes to install. It lets you set the default to on or off, the way it should have come from the factory.
I don't mind the auto stop feature. What I really hate is the automatic braking. This asinine thing keeps slamming on the brakes when I'm going around another car such as when it's almost around a corner and I'm going straight. The lane assist sucks too because it constantly fights for the steering. I turned it off, but it turns back on when I use cruise control.
Yeah im mixed on this feature, but mostly against it. In my 2021 Crosstrek, it says its used the feature a total of about 26 hours since new and saved like 9 gallons of gas. Not really worth putting strain on the starter over time
I have a 24 Legacy with 800 miles on the clock, this is my 4th and last Subi, when I get in and out or lock the doors it sounds like Big Ben with all the bells, when you want to turn on the A/C you have to scroll through the slow moving console, when you want to go from de fogger to normal heat you have to play with the screen, not to mention the radio, I spend more time staring at the console then I do on the road.
I agree, this model, has robbed autonomy and free decision making from the driver. I hate not being able to turn off the headlights when out of park, the cruise control gets disabled with heavy rain and several other engineer flaws.
