Keep making great videos bro! Props for your dedication and support.
Much appreciated bro! Thank you!
I wasn't sure the MPC 61 keys sampled until I saw your video. Now it's price tag seems justified. Thanks for posting.
Welcome!
Super Dope and Informative. Thank you for sharing... 💯🔥😉
No problem. You know I keep working!
Thanks for this. This is what I’m looking for in a sampling workstation. Well done, sir!
Thank you 🙏🏽
That beat is fire!!!!!! Thanks for the tut.
Thanks 🙏🏾
Tutorial was on point fam!! I see you working!! #motivation 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
You already know!
Thanks for answering the simple question of if this dang thing samples.
No problem
Great video! Figured I would have to use the mic inputs and thank you for explaining the gain info and such. My old record player needs a preamp. Thanks for sharing bud!
Welcome!
This guy is sooo cool. I feel light watching ur vids. Totally subbed
Appreciate you fam!
thanks for this video!
Welcome
Hullo , Mr Styles, I have been playing keyboards since the late 60's , yep, getting on a bit. I have owned the best stuff. Hammond B3, Prophet 5, arp odyssey, minimoog, Fender Rhodes. etc. I have always been a bit mystified about sampling. I came across this keyboard, and thought. This thing does everything, might splash out, and get one. After watching your video, I now will. Many thanks for making this clear, easy to understand precise video . I have a better clue on how to make my own samples. Many thanks . keep up the good work Arthur UK
Glad I could help. It’s a pretty good keyboard. It does function like a traditional MPC though but you could create full productions with it.
👍 You da man. Thank you!!!! You're the 1st person, actually the one and only that shown me what I needed to know. I still work with the vintage Ensoniq ASR 10 and compose most of my materials with acoustic guitars, various other instruments and my vast collection of self made samples. Between Omnishere, Analog Lab V and this new Akai I'll be a happy camper. Now to get this keyboard delivered.
Subscribed, Liked and Shared.
Thank you. Much appreciated!
@@GhettoStyles If only that board had SCSI interface and a way to import vintage Akai/Roland cd-rom material and also could manipulate and stack trans-waves, add a couple more voices it would be ideal.
@@tommidd8042 it doesn't have a SCSI Interface but you can connect it to a USB audio interface with up to 32 inputs. I know some of the older Akai drum programs and such still work. I don't know how far you want to go back though.
@@GhettoStyles Thank you. ♥Saved, shared, subscribed. Keep up the good work.
Watching this video makes me feel a lil more hyped about my purchase 🔥🎹🔥
It’s not a bad purchase at all.
This is extremely nice, subscribed.
Thanks. I appreciate it.
Yo this video blessed me.
Welcome!
Me too bro🙏🏿💯
Well explained on the connectivity.
Thanks
Nice vid. Oh yeah, it's called a Turntable! 👊🏽
You do the damn thing bro👍🏾.....I can only imagine when you roll one up and really get serious, lol. Your production skills are up💯
Appreciated!
I’m feeling a bit sea sick. That deck sounds like it was playing on Gillian’s boat when they got hit with that storm.
Man!!!!
@@ohrworminc Already got it fixed 😉
Thank You 🙏
You’re welcome 😊
good one brother
Thanks!
@@GhettoStyles Thanks Ghetto Styles for this video.
@@myreasoning welcome
Dope tutorial as usual my brother, I gotta send Hypebeast Dad your way because he talked about this the other day!🙏🏾✊🏾💚
Much Appreciated. I might be the first video doing this so far.
Wow! Is the record warped or is it the turntable?
Turntable. It’s fixed now though 👍🏾
can you use the keys to chop samples while in sample edit mode?
Absolutely!
I have a question.
I tried using an iPad to connect to key 61 to use to sample.
The 61 for some reason is not getting the signal.
Is there something I'm missing.
I know I have it connected proper and my cables are working.
Let me know if you have any suggestions.
Thanks
If you have verified you are getting audio out of the iPad it should work. I haven’t tried that myself but I assume mine would be easy since my iPad is older at this point and still has a headphone jack.
@GhettoStyles ye my ipad has the headphone jack and I eventually figured it out.
I went in to preferences and had to switch the audio to internal. I had the audio set to my scarlet interface.
I only figured that out by accident by the way.....lol
Thanks for reaching out.
Bless
@@phoenix063071 if you have free inputs on your interface you can switch it back and use those also. Glad you figured it out though.
can you chop and sample using the keys instead of the pads?
I don't think you can chop with the keys but you CAN play with the keys after the sample is chopped and converted into a sample program.
I have been trying to sample my own guitar into the keyboard. I can record it and find the file but no matter what I do I cannot play it back or chop it up or anything any idea why?
@@csul5961 it should load right into the sample editor.
@GhettoStyles yes it should but if doesn't play it. I just bought it brand new but I don't have internet to update,
@@csul5961 are you able to load it in the sample editor? Or do you just mean previewing in the browser? Be default auto preview is turned off. In the sample editor pad 1 or pad 16 should play the sample.
the turntables wow/flutter is very noticeable.
🔥🔥🔥🔥
You need RIAA equalization or it's all treble
All I wanted was the top.
that turntable a preamp for riaa
can you allocate individual samples to the keys opposed to the pads?
Yes you can and you can turn each pad sample into keygroups if you want to and play them chromatically as well.
Instructions were on point tho.
Damn bro you got some equipment jeez
I have a little bit 🤣
Yo is there any way I can sample off utube my guy? I love you videos all ways 💪🏿✊🏿💯
Yes. I do it all the time. It’s easier if you also have an audio interface. I am running TH-cam out of my audio interface into the inputs of the MPC. The connection is similar to this video but depending on how you want to do it the cables might be different.
@@GhettoStyles yes I got the SSL interface man can u plz make a quick video on that whenever u get time my guy? Only if u can I will really appreciate that st8 up just a request video 💪🏿💯
@@RubenSmith I was thinking about a video like that. It might be a while. I don’t have a SSL I’m assuming big 6 but the concept should be the same. Which MPC do you have although it’s similar on them all. I might do it for multiple devices.
@@GhettoStyles o ok I got the Mpc key 61
@@RubenSmith ok. 👍🏾
Thank you first and foremost. Im looking for a possible replacement for an mv8800. Looking into this but needed to know if I can sample from tables and glad to know that it's possible. I'm probably going to just hook 2 tables into a mixer then plug the mixer into this akai with the adapters personally. I have 2 questions my man... 1. Can you have each of your sounds on different channels that can be individually controlled and if so how many?
2. Can you hookup a mic to lay vocals on it's own track?
It has to XLR combo jacks on the back so you can connect microphones to it and record vocals into it. It also has an on/off switch for phantom power. Downside is you won't be able to use a microphone and turntables at the same time if you have the turntables in stereo because there is only two inputs unless you use adapters of some sort. As of right now the Key 61 can have up to 8 tracks with different sound sets on it. A track could be a plugin instrument or a playable keygroup which is generally one sound over all of the notes or each track could hold a drum program which can have up to 128 individual sounds per key or pad which you can manipulate or add effects to per key/pad or across all at once.
@@GhettoStyles awesome response! So hypothetically say I record 7-8 tracks of different sounds one of those including vocals, can I hookup my turntable and then as the tracks play together I can then record live scratches? And if that's true and from what I'm gathering so far this machine is capable of sampling, making the beat, having full control over each sound including when it comes in and out and the level of each sound, and record live scratches on top of the mix? So that be making a full song beginning to end including mixing and mastering? Bruh if that is all true...why would we even want any of the other MPC's lol.. this one comes with keys and weighted keys at that!!! Bruh I have to ask about the speed then as well ig bc I'm outdated I bought the Roland mv8800 thinking why in the world ppl are still using mpc that was back in like 2009ish bc it had all the software built in to do all those things and plugs to put any instruments in as well as independent mic input for vocals but the super terrible downside for me was the speed sucks so bad 😞 it take forever to load drums or hi's but it's nice having so many tracks to layer as much as you can imagine and built in mastering and separate mixdown software built in 1 machine and the feel of the pads was much better than mpc believe it or not and their velocity so it hits hard or soft as you touch it but the slowness of loading your sounds is terrible downside.
@@icebergslim8658 The Key 61 is pretty fast when it comes to loading times. Also to be a bit more clear it has 8 tracks that people use for beatmaking and samples. I left this out but it also has up to 8 dedicated audio tracks as well where you could record vocals or your scratches or whatever else. So its actually 16 tracks. Also if you connect it to a computer and run the MPC software with it then it goes up to 128 MIDI tracks and 128 Audio tracks depending on your computers constraints. I don't like recording vocals in the MPC myself but it can definitely be done and there is a built in vocal editing suite of plugins delays, doublers, harmonizers, compressors, and an autotune like plugin.
@@GhettoStyles deezam! That's what I'm talking about! All for $1500 is a good deal too. I appreciate your responsiveness and giving me your time to elaborate and go beyond to help me understand a bit more about this piece 💯
I must say you are very impressive when it comes to Akia my friend,I have a question what would be the purpose for owning the MPC live 2 if the MPC keys 61 is the same thing including a lot more? because now I'm thinking about trading my MPC live 2 for the MPC keys 61and pay the extra money
The Live 2 is still the most portable out of all of the current MPCs in the lineup. The Live 2 is the only one you can literally pack in a backpack and take it down the road and make a beat sitting on a picnic table not connected to ANYTHING. Whenever I go to someone else's studio I ALWAYS take the Live 2 with me. You're probably not going to want to carry a MPC X or the MPC Keys 61 around with you unless it's a big stage show or something. The MPC One would be the next closest thing if we are talking portability but it still has to be plugged up to some type of power source.
@@GhettoStyleswell that's true but I'm just using it for studio purpose,I don't take my gear out because times is hard for a lot of people these days and I don't want to get robbed,Since I play keys and saw some videos saying the same MPC live 2 is in the MPC keys 61 do you no if they will be making it in all Black? because I will get it for sure I don't care for too much Black and Red but it's an awesome piece of gear
@@B-free7 Times are definitely hard for a lot of people but if you are traveling to a studio session in most cases it is with like minded people that usually have similar gear of their own. All of the MPCs have the same capabilities of th Live 2 but the MPC Keys does not have a built in speaker system. The Live 2 is the only one with that feature. The MPC Keys is similar to the Live 2 as far as the Q-Links and the screen but the MPC Keys has more buttons which have dedicated functions and the I/O is a little different as the MPC Keys have XLR inputs but no dedicated PHONO inputs. The Live 2 has PHONO inputs but no XLR. If you are a keyboard player I believe the MPC Keys could be a big deal for you and you would still have the classic MPC workflow. I don't know if it will come out with all black keys but knowing what Akai has done in the past it would not surprise me. The MPK came in B/W, All Black, Red, and All White. I wouldn't be surprised if they came out with a MPC Keys Retro or a Gold edition at some point.
Thank you
@@GhettoStyles I would like the MPC Keys 61 in all Black or Black and White, thanks for the info sir
Yo how did you add halftime to your sample ?
I used AIR HALF SPEED on it. It’s one of the plugins that comes built into the MPC if you are using 2.10 and up.
Thank you, the vinyl sounds well wonky.. lol 😂
I agree
yeah sounds like the speed isn't holding correctly
Bruh I can plug the cable into the xlr I didn’t even know that
@@AUSE yep. It’s an XLR combo jack.
The speed of the disc is not the good one you should adjust with the pich in the phono if you have one. Thecresult could be much better.👍😉
This was hot! I’m trading a DJS1000 for this
Thanks and that might be a great trade.
love the video but that is warped tf
Agreed
Invest in some Technics!
I might try it out.
Sadly I gave Akai the design for this board without even a thank you, smh, proof is on my channel
This was interesting but the schematic for the MPC Keys 61 originally titled the Akai Force 6 was discovered inside the MPC 2.9 software update which was released on December 7th 2020. Your email was a whole year after the original leak.
That's some funky ass tape sounding garbage. Like a cassette tape sat in the desert heat for a few.
It was actually an issue with the player that has been long fixed.
That record has to be on the wrong speed.
Your video is skipping a step
What step would that be?
