They stuff really work because unlike every other company out there that makes a keyboard and make it vst compatible they actually make sure each knob works and tell you what it is on screen as you control it as clear as possible, this is why the workflow is unmatched
This last update bricked my MPC Live 2 for days and now it’s only about 70% functional! No WI-FI and plug-in to the internet is dial up speeds! AKAI lost focus rolling all this out at once. And so far they aren’t responding to my messages requesting the warranty be honored…
I remember the X7000 back in the day. I may have been 16 or so. I could never afford one back then. Just got my Key 61. Mission completed!!! Love my new board. I have 4 MPC units but this takes the cake. Great review
I would say perfect time! I have 2 MPC’s the One and Live II, and this is a priority purchase. It has some features that will fit my workflow perfectly.
I really like how they are trying to bridge the gap between the sampler and the keyboard workstation, but for the price, it really is what it is. A used motif with really any used mpc (even a 500 w upgrade pads) could give a monster sound compared to what I heard from these, with respect to the sound engines, while sacrificing a bit of workflow efficiency. I just feel like this is either meant to appeal to the motif/fantom/triton crowd and get them into the mic line or the vice versa (bring keyboard workstations to mpc user). I don’t understand why akai spends so much time making these integrated devices (li ion battery and monitors in an mpc? Tf?) rather than honing in on their flagship sauce and going on to making stuff like affordable euro or rack mounts that do things like emulate old filters (like s950 lp)or instead of adding a li ion battery to the mpc do some kind of dip device or extra motherboard that can process samples like an mpc3k or mpc60. Could be a good first piece of hardware.
Lolol I said that the Korg T3EX would be my last board way back in 1991! Boy have I eaten my words ever since. Akai have certainly released a Keyboard workstation to be reckoned with in 2022, but be sure that they'll expand on this with updated instruments in the future.
I already have the MPC Live 2. If I didn’t own any hardware I would go this route though. I mean, a full fledged MPC and workstation? Not a bad deal. I’m considering upgrading to get the sounds. Only thing holding me back is other plug-ins I own.
And this may be the Akai Advanc 61 done right. I own an Advance and an MPC Live 2, the thing is that lugging around a 61 key thing is quite a feat, so it is great to have the option to move the Live 2 around wo the bulk. But yeah, would like to have the Key. Studio Black, Touch, Live 2, Advance 61 and a lot of other things like Akai MIDIMix and MPK Mini would love to have a big brother in the place.
Thanks Andy, Just that Bass sound demo blows me away now that was funk I hope there's a long list of bass sound choices. Can I write the entire song while in sequence mode or do I have to connect loop patterns together?
Hope there will be an update with Mastering mode to mixdown complete song from Key61 to a cd/dvd burner using the USB cable connection and also mirror the display wireless to a larger external touch screen would be game changer for people who wants to stay in standalone...Who wear glasses or have big fingers to navigate better..then charge the standalone existing users $25-$50 for the upgrade and make it Free for MPC-X users because they've already spent a lot for that piece of gear
If Andy Mac behind the gears all I do is reaching out my wallet!!! because this guy is my hero I love the way he explain it perfect, I’ll buy peanut from this guy if he got for sell
Please - after all the editing of a particular patch - how on earth do you save it . I’ve tried everything I know . But everytime I edit a patch and press save , when I go back to Home Screen and re-select the same patch it’s back to factory default. Thank you .
An outstanding keyboard as all the AKAI keyboards/keyboard-Controllers are. I have the Advance. The only disappointing thing was that soon after purchasing it, the software VIP 3 didn’t work anymore when I upgraded to MacOS Catalina (64 Bit only). VIP would have been a great sw, but it still doesn‘t work 3 years later. Can anyone tell me how to solve this problem, respectively if VIP is applied to 64 bit OS? Anyway, AKAI KEYBOARDS are the best out there, best quality!
Hey Akai. I’m stumped that you can’t record more than 8 midi instruments. Can you please make the midi thru port to a second midi out for use with external synths/gear. This would somewhat compensate for the lack of recordable internal midiinstruments. The dawlike sequencer is awesome!
Please clarify what you mean by 'record more than 8 MIDI instruments'. The MPC sequencer allows up to 128 MIDI tracks which you can use for external or internal MIDI, keygroup tracks, and more.
I mean for real CX! I didn't get the mpc key, but I had to cop this Fabrics collection for the Live 2. Sounds amazing and to be on the MPC standalone at that too! Akai aint playing in this here 2022!
Question ... can you 'automate' the editing parameters in Fabric XL ... for example ... record the formant control change over 4 bars etc ? Or indeed ... whilst in the 'edit' screen ... can turning the Q knobs be recorded into a track, changing the sound 'character' over time ?
It has the same functionality as the other MPCs like MPC One, X, Live, etc. So yes you can put in your own samples - not sure if you can put your own samples inside the plugins though.
From 10th of videos I watched for the new Akai Mpc I feel it's limited and nothing special so far, so it's not good or bad maybe so far so good, but I still like Yamaha Montage it's another world specially the internal sounds.
What I regret about the presentation of this workhorse is that the sounds are immersed in Reverb, which masks the definition, style of the filters, etc. As a complete tool, this Akai is very beautiful, but I do not think it is a sound miracle
this is great but all of your engines are seriously lacking in modulation options. the Moog One and the Kronos are gold standards for this. please don't give us only these simple instruments. OPx4 should be the direction now you have these "friendly" instruments.
They stuff really work because unlike every other company out there that makes a keyboard and make it vst compatible they actually make sure each knob works and tell you what it is on screen as you control it as clear as possible, this is why the workflow is unmatched

yeah they are definitely not playing around this time around!!

Amazing instrument. I've chosen the right (or wrong $$$) time to start looking at the MPC family.

You can punch in, so you yes you can just write the entire song if you want. Some use extra sequences then convert to song.
Either way works.
Fantastic, can’t wait to load this into my MPC Live 😎
$149 for the plug-in

I didn't need a kontakt plugin for my sampler....
Nice! Is there a noticiable sound difference between FaBRIC XL AND fABRIC?
Not much. The difference is more in the GUI and freeing up some of the processing resources.

Or indeed ... whilst in the 'edit' screen ... can turning the Q knobs be recorded into a track, changing the sound 'character' over time ?

Does it support complete song arranging with different parts or only loops?
Great stuff but needs streaming instruments/samples from SSD to reduce demand on RAM.
Can I get these packs for the "live" ?
