Pls upload the video with a voice over either recorded by yourself or a friend, that would be legendary. I would subscribe. I don't even think it would add to the joke, I just wanna piss off the person before me who suggested a soulless, heartless, annoying AI voice over.
Ah, the universal pain of us penniless girlies trying to brute force masterpieces on ancient, ailing technology. That sweet limbo of waiting between brushstrokes while the device of choice revs and whines and sneers at you that this time, it might deign NOT to save your progress. Art is baguette
The notes app is so buggy for anything other than text, I lost a big chunk of my handwritten lecture notes mid lecture one time when I was using it for those 😭
I am loving this series so much! Being able to recreate a painting at all is amazing but being able to do it on a tiny screen with your finger in an app that's somehow gained sentience enough just to hate you is unreal. I've seen people make some pretty wild things in Animal Jam in case you feel like torturing yourself further, but I don't know enough about it to know how intuitive (or not) it is.
18:46 at this point i would have definitly taken a screenshot and imported it as the background so it has less layers and progress gets permanently saved 21:34 RIP T^T IT WAS INEVITABLE
Oh no, it keeps every stroke as a layer? No wonder it crashed. Flattening it with cropping at some point would probably have helped. ETA 21:51 yeah, I see you've decided to take the plunge.
Yes! I was gonna come down here to say this; iOS markup is a vector image editor not a raster one so it's holding a bunch of math in memory every time Cat opens the image without flattening it/fixing it/rasterizing it (whatever you may call it)
I've been struggling through a piece recently, then I watched this, opened Clip Studio, and just said "at least it isn't the Notes app" until I broke that wall. Thank you for your service o7
Oh I didn't realize how early I am for this video lol hi, I just got to the black streak part. LOVE your uploads. also I remember there being theories on why the hermine is jacked and what man he respresents or whatever it's kinda interesting
I was going to include background info on the piece since it is pretty wild but folks never seemed too interested in that part. The lady, Cecilia Gallerani (who was 16-17), was the 'mistress' of Da Vinci's patron, the duke of Milan (who was 38. disgusting). Ermine were a symbol of purity and thought to protect pregnant women so it is possible the ermine is obscuring the fact that she was pregnant at that time. It is all a big yikes.
If I were you, I would’ve had a mental breakdown every time the app crashed or started tweaking 😭 And the final result is absolutely beautiful, I’m jealous of your skills!
17:14 this glitch is pretty common in apple(adobe) drawing apps when the operating systems glitches from like a ram overload and it basically takes the last point your finger was at before it glitched and the last touch position after it glitched and assumes you were making a mark
This is amazing!! I’m so impressed with your patience. Also, idea for working around the loss quality: maybe you could zoom in and screenshot sections of the painting and then combine them in photoshop for a higher res file? Like astrophotographers do for pictures of the moon?
I keep thinking of "The Five Obstructions" by Lars von Trier and Jorgon Leith, but only in concept. No idea how that fits into a name for this project, but that's what comes to mind.
I cant write the word I dont think in this context without yt thinking its hate speech. But the thing you wrote at 2:36 had me cackling so suddenly I scared my dog! 😂
girl i am soooo serious when i say youre moments away from blowing the hell up.... i binged your videos and my god theyre so good. youre destined for that bag edit: for a name for this series maybe something like. Virtualso (yknow. like. virtuoso. genius i know)
As a fellow self described idiot, i feel your pain and i salute your will to power through obstacles like that. Thats insane, i prob would have put the iphone in a blender 2 days into the process.
Damn that low opacity crayon tool made a world of difference. The vid inspired me to try painting in notes but android so I dunno if I have an equivalent tool
cat please! try LIPSU by dev Hensley, it's a drawing app that's hard to describe, its very creative and psychedelic, has animated brushes and much more. that crossover would be amazing for both communities.
The word unhinged is used a lot these days, but this is unhinged--I wouldn't even write a note in the notes app! In all seriousness, It looks incredible! I'm actually kind of shocked that the notes app doesn't have any kind of like lossless photo export feature. Apple just bought Pixelmator so maybe they'll add more features to notes in future?
Another app that could be fun to use (and it’s also in the same family of the notes app!) is Freeform, I believe it comes free with the Apple iOS and it’s basically the notes app but with collage elements, I’ve used it before for rough sketches and it’s quite fun : )
Mama I'm GAGGEDDDD I don't have a trained eye for art but my goddd it looks reaaally close😭😭 anyone who complains that their (frankly) janky art would be fixed if only they had some better equipment better beware cuz from what I've seen...
i really appreciate the amount and level of work that went into this so forgive my off topic comment; i adore the painting of the dog in the background, is there anywhere to see it up close?
I’ve also tried drawing on the notes app and with drawing with much less detail have had similar issues with the black lines showing up and it crashing and not saving
Currently covering up the speedpaint footage to make you look like a mom playing candy crush
Pls upload the vid with an AI audio voice over, that would be legendary. I would subscribe

Some apple team lead probably: "no you can't optimize the memory for the notes app, people put their grocery list on it, it's fine move on!"
you have impressive control over your frustration
Thanks estrogen
This is so insanely cool. Day 5 the notes app really said "girl, you're done now" 😭
I'm surprised this video is allowed on YT, there's so much suffering 😂
Only 4.5k views is insane. This was thoroughly entertaining and you're an incredible artist !! Hope to see more from you
You will whether you like it or not!! You have been warned!!
@ HELL YEAH IM PREPARED 💃🕺
The notes app is so buggy for anything other than text, I lost a big chunk of my handwritten lecture notes mid lecture one time when I was using it for those 😭
no cuz how does the notes app function SOO bad... it's somehow worse than mobile google docs...
SAME I was so mad. Never trusting the app again
Daaaamn!!! This is seriously impressive, both the art and the relatively calm reactions to majorly frustrating crashes. I’d be screaming. Lol
Yay a new upload from my favorite TH-camr Elizabeth BigToes Spaghetti
It’s genuinely beautiful and I’m very impressed
Right
I didn't know I needed to see Linda Belcher recreate painting in notesapp until today!

DaVinci genuinely couldn't have done this so theres that
I mean to be fair the iPhone didn’t event have the notes app back then
@@CatherineGraffamyou're technically right but I still hate it
@@CatherineGraffamexcuses excuses
you are so talented holy hell

I think each tool has color aspects itself. So a pure yellow highlighter marks differently than the same pure yellow as a crayon. It's crazy making.
I don't know why it popped into my head, but I feel like some variation of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof would be an excellent series name.
SHES BACKKKKKK i love everything you upload
The jokes, the editing, and the beautiful art? Suuuuubscribed ✨

@@CatherineGraffam love the background info personally
this must be a form of torture to paint on the note app, i'm so impressed
Instant subscribe as soon as you were “silenced by a man’. 😭💀 This is the first video I’ve seen from you and I’m now off to binge ALL your content.
I like using the notes app to draw but the amount of times its deleted my entire drawing and I got so mad I just had to go to bed is insane😂
Wow this came out SO good and you’re so strong because I would’ve quit after the 2nd disaster
Okay, I'm painting my nails right now and got an idea, recreating Botticelli's The birth of Venus using only nail varnish
💅
This is amazing. Fighting through this arduous process. Very impressive! 😍😍😍😍 thank you for trying and sharing
holy shit dude this is INSANE! Amazing job
Holy crap! You did an amazing job, I've drawn fruit in the notes app but that's simple shapes. This is genuinely wonderful.
Same feels with my work! Shit just be breaking and crashing. At least my computer is no longer corrupting the OS... so that's a win.
If I were you, I would’ve had a mental breakdown every time the app crashed or started tweaking 😭

The algorithm blessed me with this video.
What an amazing video! The ingenuity alone makes this an 8/10, everything else on top makes it a 10/10. ❤
Amazing 😂
No stylus just your finger?! 🤯
20:26 i actually think your hair with the curls and the volume looks really flattering :)

real like leave me alone, but also love me
22:23 its like 2am and the sped up 360 sent me into orbit
Ah yes, love another entry in the series of 'Torturing myself for ART'

Love seeing works like this
awesome algorithm pull
you're insane for this😭 it looks amazing!!
Props to you for pushing on despite all the problems you faced! The level of skill is insane. You just landed yourself a new sub 🥰
Wow! What incredible talent, mastery of color theory, and unwordly patience! this was insanely beautiful to watch

Where are all my finger/phone art ppl at?
I draw on my phone a lot and I have been for years >:J
Your vids make me want to paint again! I feel like I'm learning so much about technique and colors

best recommended video I've had in AGES I'm so enthralled
completely caught off guard by "Elizabeth Big Toe Spaghetti" i wheezed lol
thats incredible. btw you can also draw in the photos app lol, i always do that but its also extremely frustrating
That is an unhinged thing to do but the final result looks banging
At first when you said day 4 was off to a rough start I first thought “oh no did she start her period” then after a bit I was like “wait a second”
YOUR ART IS AMAZING AND SO SPOT ON
ITS CRAZY COOL
this is beyond impressive !! also did i catch those trixie & katya references right 🤞🏽
OMG I’m impressed! You did a phenomenal job!!!
Truly impressive and yeah, Notes was absolutely not meant to be used this way
this is "drawing in class" and taking it to the extreme. I love it
I can’t believe you produced that with your finger on that wonky horrible app that crashes while making a note. This is insane!!! 👏
As a fellow self described idiot, i feel your pain and i salute your will to power through obstacles like that. Thats insane, i prob would have put the iphone in a blender 2 days into the process.

Another interesting art program you could use for this series is tux paint!
Can’t wait for Da Vinci’s response 🙏

Creating that LEGIT AMAZING work of art in notes without a stylus?? You’re on another level 💪🏽💪🏽💯

my notes app on my computer doesn't even have many things in it and crashes ALL the time *sob* like literally every other time I open it
Your copy is so good, and it was done with finger in weird app.
Holy shit, this is ao good. I am not a professional artist by any means, but it looks so similar to the original 🤯
