    Check out the end screen for an interesting cover of the Song of Healing I found the other day! It's...eccentric to say the least.

    I retired from my job 2 months after BotW came out. My last two months of work were spent finding time to play during my graveyard shifts.
    It really does feel like a lifetime ago.

    There are a lot of people that simply don’t mind the weapon durability system because they realize it’s necessary function.

    • @Lexi-M
      @Lexi-M ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I’m one of those. I really don’t mind it! I also don’t mind the rain. It’s definitely annoying, but it adds an extra layer where you have to plan around rain. You have the little weather thing in the bottom right corner of the that shows you if rain is coming and I always checked that before making a big climb. When I imagined the game without it, I felt it would be boring not to have that aspect. It forces you to build a campfire & wait it out. If it never rained I wouldn’t have ever had a reason to build campfire in BOTW.

    • @waltermh111
      @waltermh111 ปีที่แล้ว

      I dont mind the rain except that it happens too often.
      As for durability, I don't mind it and it makes me think about the value of the weapons.
      But what makes it annoying is how hard it is to expand your weapon inventory. I like the koroks, but it can take awhile to expand your inventory so you will be struggling to decide on kept weapons for so long into the game.

    I could not forget this day if I wanted to. It was the day my grandmother died...where her final gift to me was the money for this game. I wasn't a little kid anymore, but she knew that these games fascinated me...and so she handed me one last gift to "get myself something fun" a month prior. I kid you not, I received the call of her passing just after the download of this game was done. Couldn't go without making sure she delivered, I say.
    Since then Breath of the Wild has been a special game for that fact alone, but playing further made its specialty so much more apparent: I first defeated all 4 Blights and bested the Ancient Weapons, but wondered when I would get to use the Master Sword. Then, after I had done it all I went to the Forgotten Woods in frustration...and discovered it had been there all this time, ready for the taking. AFTER getting enough health, too, which kind of blew my mind. Only then I understood that this game was not like any other Zelda I ever played before...because I never played the original Zelda on NES. It was so much like that, just as described by the developers: It was just you, the overworld and some hints how to progress.
    This left me in awe, even taking some edge off the urgency in that I felt like I was encouraged to explore by the game even in the face of the Blood Moons and Zelda's pleas. The next playthrough I changed my approach radically and ended up enjoying it more, focusing further on the exploration and discovery aspect of the game. Even with the gripes I had with this game I loved it...and Master Mode gave me the challenge I wanted after some time. I didn't go for the DLCs even now, but I can't help but feel moved to do so now. Tears of the Kingdom is shaping up to be as grand of a game as it is a labour of love and passion, an infectious passion I want to use to delve into this wonderful game again and enter this seamless world again.

    I really wish the interiors of the Divine Beasts had been more visually distinct. It makes sense why they all look similar from a story perspective, but I think it was a major reason why the Divine Beast dungeons feel like such a letdown.

    • @steve4812
      @steve4812 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't get it. The developers clearly stated that thry wanted to stray off from the traditional zelda formula. Yet everyone is complaining about how it is not like previous zeldas.
      BOTW has more fans than traditional zelda games and it is a fact. The only reason why it sold 30 million copies was the open structure(instead of the old formula).

      @nuh-uhbro765 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@steve4812 You’re just arguing to argue, take the L. Nobody is complaining just because the formula got changed. In most ways everybody agrees that the changes were a good thing. People complain about the divine beasts because they’re a horrible step down and not a good replacement for what came before. BOTW innovated in many ways and making 15 minute long copy and pasted “dungeons” with a copy and pasted boss is not one of those innovations. It’s a valid complaint, your defense is nonsensical, go to bed.

    • @steve4812
      @steve4812 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@nuh-uhbro765 Nah vah ruta and naboris are the best puzzles in any zelda game. And regarding the "copy, paste bosses", go read the book 'creating a champion' book to see why they made the design choice(to make the blights look similar), instead of being querulous.

    • @TheAlibabatree
      @TheAlibabatree ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@nuh-uhbro765 There’s absolutely no reason for “themed dungeons”, other than people’s attachment to nostalgia. The Divine Beasts were amazing. They actually made sense within the context of the world and story and logic. And they didn’t take so long that they made you forget the point of the game: exploration.

      I was watching one let's play where the guy was so paranoid about weapons breaking that he was spamming bombs for everything and not using any of his weapons. That was so frustrating to watch. I use my weapons wisely (e.g. didn't waste a powerful weapon on a weak enemy) and never ever have found myself with no weapons left (heck, even if you did, you have bombs and even magnesis to hit enemies with metal objects if available).

    You say it feels like a lifetime ago when BOTW came out. To me it feels like yesterday. LOL I remember geeking out and squealing like the fan girl I am at all sorts of cool little discoveries I made while playing. I think TOTK is going to be even better because they are taking all of the great things from BOTW and adding to it. They listened to the fans and addressed many of their complaints about things in BOTW and hopes for the sequel. There are so many cool new things that they added to the game that we don't even know about yet. I am soooooo excited!!! Just one more week! AAAAAAAAH!!! That being said I do want to go into this game as blind as possible, so I have really only watched the actual trailers for it and that's about it. I've been trying to avoid the leaked details about it. I am a little upset that I learned the name of the dragon person and the original owner of the green arm... But I don't think it is a seriously huge spoiler, so I'll just have to get over it. I have a feeling that is revealed near the beginning of the game anyway.
    I have a feeling that the towers and filling out the map probably hasn't changed very much. There will be a lot of new and different things in TOTK, but I don't think there really is much they could do to make the towers different.

    What would you actually _rate_ Breath though, in a nutshell? For me, it's a 7/10 - and that's being _extremely_ generous. I agree with _some_ of your points: but honestly for me, once the novelty and sparkle of ''being Freeee'' (and the _Amazing_ sights of the Zora region I luckily 1st explored) wore off - the game simply fell apart for me. For sure: innovate Nintendo, ahem, _Break some_ stuff even. But to totally break (remove) the Dungeons: the Life-blood of the Zelda series??

      As far as the second sentence, old Zelda games had similar dungeons as well. They all “played out the same”. You find a key, unlock a door, use an item, defeat the boss. Its always been formulaic. Its just a new formula now.
