The Honda True Adventure Tour: 4 Days on the Honda Transalp 750 and 2024 Africa Twin

- I am incredibly flattered to have been invited on the 2024 Honda True Adventure Tour, a multi-day motorcycle adventure starting in rainy Seattle Washington and leading us down through Oregon to the redwoods and California coast. We spent 4 days riding the 2024 Honda Transalp 750 and the 2024 Honda Africa Twin with 11 time Baja Champion and motorcycle legend Johnny Campbell. 2 time Dakar Champion Ricky Brabec also joined us for the last day of riding on this Honda motorcycle tour.
On this trip we had it all: rain, sun, sand, beautiful redwood forests, great food, and amazing company. We even had to completely scrap one day of our motorcycle touring route because of a late winter storm and come up with a new route on the fly. Now that's adventure!

I'm enjoying an Ave Marie Churchill on my back deck in NoCal watching two of my favorite YT adventurers rubbing elbows with a couple of American motorcycle legends. You can be proud of the influence you've attained through your hard work and attention to what most riders want or have time to do.

Great music choices in this video, Sir. Well done. I think you'd make a pretty great local guide for folks to see the beauty of Oregon. That coast (both in OR and CA) looks stunning! Once I get the experience and figure some shorter trips out, I want to get over into Oregon and ride down into CA to see the redwoods and that coastal highway I always hear so much about.
Your sarcasm was on point as always. Need more commentary on your experience with the DCT on the AT. Did the MSR gear keep you dry and warm?

Great video Dork. Spent last week in the North Carolina mountains riding my Tranalp. Had a blast. A mix of asphalt and gravel roads. Wife took her first ride in the mountains with me and really enjoyed it. Said she liked it a lot better than riding in Florida! The Transalp did great off-road but I'm thinking there might be a XR 650 in the shop soon😆

Hey awesome video! Wondering if you would eventually be doing a video on route picking/making before solo or motocamping rides and any tips you might have about going about it? Thanks for inspiring new riders like me to get into the sport. (Used to ride dirt/trail but been out of the game since 2009) so I'd still consider myself a beginner.

I am curious about the auto clutch on the AT ; What do you think? I have tried quick shift and Rekluse clutch and came back to old fashion clutch but, as I have been in my 60’s for a few moons now; I see that as a potential pill in my future. Or maybe I should keep the clutch and make the trips shorter instead.

Maybe if I was doing a lot of long distance riding but otherwise I have no real desire to get back on a bike that big.

What is your opinion of the Africa Twin when you compare it to the Transalp. The focus in my question then is on the riding characteristic regarding the 19-inch front wheel instead of 21-inch, both on road and off-road.

I don't see what the point of having this ride was for Honda. They haven't imported the Africa Twin into the US for several years now & don't appear to be importing very many of the Transalp's into the US either. It would have made more sense for them to have had it in a country where they actually sell them.
You mean the Africa twin that they’ve had in the US for a few years and I have multiple used and new for sale in my area? Same with the transalp, maybe they just haven’t got a lot of allocation in your area?
As long as people keep paying these ridiculous unreasonable prices why should they stop taking advantage of people's gullibility?
Nothing screams adventure like highway droning on paved roads or a well groomed dirt road…. WATCH OUT for 1” puddles or those pesky golf carts….
Nothing screams confidence and maturity like the need to qualify others' adventures while hiding behind the most generic username on the Internet.
@@DorkintheRoad then do something for Christ’s sake… take an off road class taught by a professional instead of incessant smooth road “adventures”… challenge yourself and attempt single track, enduro anything please… not only will these challenges increase your off road prowess and confidence because anyone can road drone and drone and drone, but most importantly your credibility as a competent reviewer will be better off… and more believable… the key to your channel’s survival is separating it from the herd of other poser ‘influencers” who talk a good game but once they find themselves in 2 inches of snow , sugar sand or whoops, they crumble, don’t be “that guy”…rise above the mediocrity.
