  • In this video, I show the new Henning Group red anodized basepads that allow you to take your stock 18 round mags to 22 rounds (SORRY, I SAID 23 ROUNDS IN THE VIDEO AND IT'S ONLY 22). You can purchase just the pads or pads with extended spring and non-lockback follower. This allows me to use my Canik SFX Rival in the new USPSA Limited Optics division--which I'm now going to compete in--although I still love my iron sights. Here's the link to the basepads: www.henningsho...

How about the spring?? Taran supplies springs and they seem to be better stretching out the stock spring doesn’t seem the best

Thanks for watching! I didn’t use the stock springs, I purchased the springs and mag base pad combo from Henning. That way I didn’t have to use the stock springs which I don’t think would work very well since they would be too short.

@@docgsreloading7985 dude I went on the site and to add springs and follower is ridiculous bro. I’m sorry but $50 plus shipping for a spring baseplate and follower is not happening. I’m sure some folks are ok with paying that but I’m not cool with it. If you looking to run 5 mags that’s a ton of $$$$. Great info though.

Can you tell me the manufacturer of the spring/follower. Any problems after using these for a while?

Thanks for watching and that's a great question!
The springs and followers I purchased with the base pads. It's an option to add their follower kit to the base pad when you place the order:

I used them all last year since I was shooting in the USPSA Limited Optics Division and my Atlas Artemis was on order (it takes 6 months for the build). I never had any problem with my magazines or followers the entire season. My Canik is now my 'back-up' gun for that division and I'll take it with me when I travel to big events just in case I have any problems with my Artemis.
Now, I learned a long time ago that any magazine that I drop during a stage gets disassembled, brushed, and put back together, so I do that no matter what magazine I'm using and I did that with my Canik mags as well.

How do you remove the base with the spring still in the base?

Thanks for watching and your question!
What you do, is just use your thumb to push down the spring-loaded pin on the front of the base pad and push the magazine body forward until it clears the pin and then it just slides off with the spring. It's very easy to reverse this process and reinstall the base pad.
I have to do that for every mag I drop on the ground during a stage since I use a brush to clean out the inside/outside of the mag body and the spring/follower. I learned that lesson the hard way when I didn't do that and dirt in the mag caused my follower to snag and stop feeding ammo during a classifier--causing a 'click' instead of a bang and ruining my classifier!
I hope that answers your question. Let me know if not.

Any issues seating these with the higher shoulders?

Thanks for watching! No, no problem at all, they seat well high enough that no part of the base pad even comes close to the mag well. I’ve used them all summer long at competitions and they have worked perfectly.

Do you know if they work with the Taylor Freelance mag well?

Those mags don’t look like what is linked. Those look like the Rival-S extensions they recently released.
