Jane! I love this idea! I've been wanting to start a new painting, but couldn't decide what I really wanted to do with it. This is an amazing started idea! I don't know how I missed this video before.
Thanks Jane - I like the angle you have your camera at - both for this video and the Black Friday video - it's a bit more like a birds eye view. I like seeing your working space. Some day you might show us more of your studio. And the deli paper use is ingenious - so simple and unpredictable!
Jane, thank you so much for posting such an excellent set of tutorials. I have had the luxury of an afternoon, following two videos 4x4 and this one, giving me a wider range of techniques and attempting more abstract art.
This is wonderful! I hope to do this with my family when they come to visit - they enjoy doing art at my house because I have a LOT of art supplies. This would be great because everyone would have a successful outcome.
Jane, the printmaker in me feels so at HOME with this technique! Thank you for sharing all your fabulous ideas and I can’t wait to incorporate this one into my practice.
Hi Irene - baking paper is not the same as deli paper but this technique will work for baking paper. The main difference is that glue or paste will not work on baking paper so you can't use it in collage, unfortunately.
@@lobstermashI’ve used the silicone baking paper from our local baking shop in Durban. Works fine for collage. I painted gel medium on the page, applied the painted silicone paper and applied more gel medium. (Reference Bob Burridge videos on collage)
@@guitardee1 Hi again - maybe - I'm in New Zealand so our brands are different. I tested baking paper with glue and it just peeled right off. But I find artist's tracing paper works quite well for translucent collage papers and it's quite strong. Just pricey.

Thanks Jane, clear informative demo. And fun to watch. Question - are the deli paper wraps folded when you bought them? What size paper is in your demo? Source(s) for the paper?

I also appreciate your fearlessness, Jane. It's helped me see how I can use my painting as a spiritual practice. Thanks so much.

@@guitardee1 Interesting. The baking paper I have very non-stick, not sure what it is made of. I haven't heard of silicone baking paper.
@@lobstermash you can use the usual baking paper from shops like checkers, pick n pay etc. It’s the same stuff as I use

Wth is the point?
This is a child's play, not even close to art
Sometimes play leads to discovery of new directions.
All art is child’s play.
Who made you the arbiter of what is and isn't art?
