I know this video is a little old, but the reason the guys aren't wearing official military outfits is because they are part of a MTF (mobile task force) group called Epsilon-6 "Village Idiots" and are tasked with dealing with SCPs in rural and suburban environments. So they need to be able to blend in and disappear quickly. Also they need to clear almost everything they do as it gives command a record of everything that has happened, in case they all die suddenly. Also, considering the camera is part of the anomaly they REALLY need to request permission, as who knows what kind of wacky shit it could cause if they mishandled it accidentally.
Yes, correct. I'm a vet myself but loads of vets call out a thousand things they did in the film the military would do. Never realizing, they are NPT military. That being said, they ate all likely former military special ops, so there is bleed over, just not 100% lots of folkscrotic the masks, but forget in the breaking that the cult are suspects on chemical attacks. The masks make perfect sense if you rember that
17:20 In-universe, there are objects that look ordinary but will kill you or brainwash you or turn you into monsters or something else weird if you use them too much. If HQ had received any info that the camera might be dangerous, they could advise him against using it. That's why they'd clear it.
Fairly certain there's an axe, and I mean like a wood axe, that when you swing it you'll always end up cutting yourself somehow? Basically closes off the wound with a fleshy film so you don't bleed out. Really funny weapon.
Besson didn't know the code. He suggested 1234. Ryes didn't try it. So when he got asked to, the first combo he tried was 1234. It was just coincidence that Lewis, the dead cultist in the basement, changed the door code from whatever it used to be to 1234.
It's more likely most people when they buy a lock like the one in the video, they don't bother changing the factory set combination. I'm only speaking based on statistics so that is why it is 1234. Otherwise the cult was prlbably too lazy coming up with a number to remember.
@@ZachSawyer2077 yeah, I basically thought that Lewis didn't have the time to come up with a new code, so in a panic he just reset it to factory settings. Pender ended up being out a decent amount of time and so when he came back he never thought about trying the factory code - Besson, however, did.
This production had a military advisor and the guy with the gas mask with a skull/paint on it has served in Iraq or Afghanistan if I remember correctly in the behind the scenes they said that he was in the military
About the gas masks: The mobile task forces don't know what they'll be facing during a specific mission, so think of it as, "better to bring it and not need it" For the behind the scenes, it just makes filming easier. Since you cant see their mouthes moving, they can do the physical acting separate from the voice lines.
The reason the RoE changed is because once they figured out that the anomalies were able to be hurt they needed a better way to deal with them according to the mission statement. The Foundation researches and contains entities. They don't typically want to destroy or kill them unless at that moment it is 100% necessary
29:30 Somebody already mentioned this, but in foundation terms, this is known as a cognitohazard. Cognitohazards are usually visual or audio based and basically cause... Anything to happen to a person. In the short film, the bass relief appears to cause the viewer to violently convulse with possible suicidal side effects. Not all hazards are bad, some causing feelings of happiness (although not in this case). Also you mentioned amnestics, which are what they sound like. They are chemicals designed to erase memories with different classes depending on need.
Cognitohazards are probably one of the scariest things out there. It could be the most ordinary looking thing but the second you look at it, some form of curse will be cast on to you. And you wouldn't even know it before it's too late
29:30 He saw something so terrible that it broke his mind and made him kill himself out of sheer madness. Or something like that. He saw something terrible and THAT somehow made him make puking noises and shoot himself. Speaking of puking, thanks for not constantly spitting into a water bottle like the last video.
@@peachbutt2330 It appears to have been a desperate attempt to self terminate before being getting smacked by a bodysnatcher or something. tldr: looking at it through the camera means whatever the heck is in there can see you.
I think they have to clear everything because of the nature of their work, going in and essentially poking the bear when it comes to anomalies. They could quite literally drop dead at any second so constant communication is necessary.
They kept their NODS on and their guns up and stuff for cinematic shots. Which, may I add, overlord excels in. In the effigy scene, the formation is there so they can all keep an eye on each other. They don't know what kind of anomaly they're dealing with, and they don't want to get picked off one by one. For the small inaccuracies like not clearing some rooms, they had to do that because they had a very small budget and only about 5 days to film the whole thing. Or, it was just for cinematic shots. You tend to notice they really went heavy on those in this short film haha
Theoretically, couldn't the soldiers go through the wall next to the locked heavy steel door? I mean, it's probably mostly drywall which you can kick through and any wood supports in there would be easy enough to pull apart with tools. This, of course, assumes they don't destroy a support beam or anything, but again... I suppose it's still a possibility and likely a faster one than using a torch to cut through the door.
in a normal sense, that's a way to do it but this is the SCP universe, with dangers that are beyond any human comprehension the team had limited intel on what they're dealing with so they can't just willy nilly do anything they want to do, there's a protocol for this sort of thing and they have to adhere to it breaking and destroying are only permissible when it's absolutely necessary
wall's unideal. probably also reinforced internally somewhat, so that would probably hinder entry. also a tight spot so limited room to really go at it in.
i think the reason that they were trying non-lethal is that their mission statement is to Secure Contain and Protect (SCP). Part of this includes detaining scps for study. SCP is also a designation for anomalies. The humanoids, the camera, and the tentacles would probably be given a designations like SCP-1234-a to c. Also, the inside scenes like the one where the one guy got cut was actually filmed at night. They had huge lights and everything. The. multiple nationalities of the operatives is due to the SCP Foundation’s world-wide nature. The amnestics are anomalies/SCPs that can not only erase, but also reformat or create, new ones based of the level. SCP foundation also has 5 levels of security clearance, 1 is custodial. Access to sites. Level 2: not quite sure. Secretaries maybe. Level 3 is for MTF members and security. Level 4: site directors. Level 5: Reserved for the top 13. Often known as 05, 05 command, the 05s, etc. There is also D-class. Disposable, mostly ex-death row inmates that the Foundation uses for human experiments or as people to explore dangerous areas. They’re disposable. They do what the foundation deems too dangerous.
17:20 in the scp universe there are things called cognitohazards, which can have any kind of negative affect, including death from even seeing them (that's what killed Besson) so they would have asked Helios for permission in case there was any evidence of cognitohazards/other memetic hazards cognitohazard: dangerous when entering the brain through any of the common five sense i.e touch, taste, hear, feel, see memetic hazard: an idea with an effect on the person with the idea's physical or mental state, usually trying to spread the idea, all memetic hazards are cognitohazards, but not the other way around 25:05 they'd try and take the anomaly non-lethal because the foundation focusses on the containment and study of anomalies, not the destruction
