I’m a demo contractor outta up state ny Syracuse are if my truck get started to leave the yard it gets paid too you can’t pull ur equipment out of the yard for free
How about when a customer signs a contract and pays a down payment for a excavation job that is scheduled for a couple months ahead and then cancels the job a week before and demands the down payment back, it happens a lot to me it’s like they think my business is there savings account.
Ugh that sucks. I had enough projects cancel last minute this summer that I started taking non refundable deposits of $500. I never used to but it has had to occur
We've made "deposits" non-refundable since we're commiting resources and have spent time and had resources to handle the office work side including creating paperwork, reserving and/or allocating equipment. It's actually an office fee for work we have to do before hand. Sometimes we lose out on jobs because we're booked 7-8 weeks (or more) out. Those were jobs we could have otherwise had if we would not had filled out schedule with people that cancel. In some cases we will require a more substantial second deposit closer to the time of the work if we have a significant amount of material cost. Trust me, if they balk at paying to even get a spot on my calendar then you have to question their willingness to pay when you do the work.
Yes it’s mobilization charge machine wouldn’t need to be brought trailer wouldn’t need to be hooked up if they didn’t call for the service

You should always charge a mobilization fee. Then deduct off job total.
We always charge a mobilization fee in our quotes
So does this affect the growth of the little baby trees?
Not at all. Just like when you shave your pubes, they come back stronger and thicker
