- British Airways has unveiled a new uniform for the first time in nearly 20 years.
Designed by British Savile Row fashion designer and tailor Ozwald Boateng, OBE, the new uniform takes inspiration from our people and the experience of flight.

The old(current) uniform was much better than this new version. The BA crew stood out. Now with this new uniform they will get lost in the crowd. It's looks like any other airline. Sometimes tradition works. From someone who used to wear the BA crew uniform, I was always proud to put it on, with the new one ...not so much. So much more could have been done. Disappointing really.

Old and bring back the hat for winter destinations. Everyone needs to bombard those at the top with emails stating how much we all feel embarrassed for this new uniform. What would happen if we all refused to wear it? Does anyone know of anyone who has said they are excited to wear it? No. Me neither! ❤✈️

Quite a downgrade from the old uniforms
So BA posts a video about a new uniform that doesn't actually show the uniforms in any clear discernible way? What was the point of this video? Wouldn't a runway show have been better? Unless BA isn't actually keen on the new uniforms? I'm so confused.

I’m disappointed BA your old uniform was timeless, dignified and unique this looks like easyJet (hint hint low cost airline) with a hint of red. You are slowly but surely eroding everything that made you our flag carrier and made British Airways British Airways.

It is really fresh but not classy and posh enough!!!! They should add they shiny metallic badges to make the BA crew stand out! This will be perfect. No uniform should be without its airline logo, bold and proud!
"the diversity, the nuance of it" is tosh
Reducing the union flag down to blue and white squiggles on a red neckerchief and tie is quite sad. The previous really stood out and had a serious degree of class. This is more akin to something you'd see on a charter airline. Appreciate things need a refresh but there are elements of the BA Brand, notably the union flag and speedbird emblem that are absolutely integral to the design!/brand and always should be. The moment you take those elements out of the equation is the moment you dilute the visual identity and it changes people's perceptions and starts to get lost in the crowd.
I had a just started with BA as cabin crew in March 2020, then covid happened so I was laid off with the rest of my group. I could have restarted but in the meantime had set up my own business as an artist and am happily continuing doing that….if I’d gone back to BA, I’d have been absolutely gutted with this disappointing uniform….it’s not even a uniform, it doesn’t stand out at all….BA, your uniform is perhaps THE most important brand element and you’ve totally missed a trick here….you can’t even see it properly in this ad…it’s hidden and concealed behind the sun…..if it was a brilliant design, you’d have had it standing out proudly! Very disappointing. Virgin and EasyJet are going to eclipse you. I’ll stick to my studio overalls! 🎼”Come paint with me……, come paint, come paint away…..”🎼😂🎨

As a relatively young, non-white frequent flyer of BA, I find myself shocked and appalled by the presumptuous nature of this campaign to "redefine what it is to be British". Since when has a Hijab had anything to do with being British? What arrogance must have been required to replace classy tradition with Ozwald's neutered, woke look!
If the goal was to have flyers look away from BA staff, and indeed BA, Boateng may just have succeeded in killing off a once proud British icon!

Why are the arms red? They look like Jet2 cabin crew. Was he thinking of the right airline when designing these?
Was this supposed to be a reveal? Fantastic ad and production; but gives very little away. The strategy of snippets and awkward angles, dramatic music and ambient light revealing very little of the uniforms themselves, make me wonder if it’s a marketing agency tactic to dress up what even they thought was something quite ordinary. Let’s hope I’m proven wrong!

British Airways use to mean something, the uniform design is awful, it looks cheap and nasty. Compare this to Virgin Atlantic's Westwood uniform or Ryanair's and if a low budget airline has you licked, it's time to call a meeting.

BA, OMG what are you thinking? The female uniform especially is a complete disaster - seriously. You must’ve got feedback from employees how awful it is? I’d be so disappointed if i were a member of staff. Simply awful. The present uniform is stunning. Jumpsuits and scruffy ties? Did you actually pay someone to do this? The Gents suits and ties are so cheap looking. You must be nuts introducing this. Ryanair’s new uniform is classier than this. Who is running BA these days? It’s gone seriously downhill since Tom King and Colin Marshall ran it.

The uniform as it is now is classic and classy and makes people turn heads. The new uniform looks old fashioned and uncomfortable, very 60’s, 70’s.
The scarf is too long and not practical, too much navy. The skirt looks like it’s back to front and the buttoned up shirt, tie and jumper looks like a school uniform. Stick to the uniform you have now

Not a fan of this promotional video, never mind the uniform. All a case of style over substance. Wish the camera would just focus on the uniforms instead of arty dark shots and close-ups of random bits and pieces. Terrible marketing.

Looks terrible. The ad also barely shows the uniforms, it is more a declaration of style than anything else. I fear the focus is on that subjective aspect over functionality for the people that wear it.

I wish the staff was as courteous as those on Emirates, JAL, Korean Air, Swiss, Qatar and Etihad but no what we get is a rough sounding and ill-mannered people in some what passable and over-hyped tailoring.

The old uniform was boring, but this takes it to a new level of bland! There was so much potential to be bold and have a uniform that stood out a bit more - where people look and know that they are BA staff. It's just so forgettable - they were talking about new uniforms back in 2015 - even before Boateng came on board... 7 years for this?

Almost as bad as the new AA safety video
So a one piece suit, that staff might as well have to complete disrobe just to use the facilities on a plane, which lets be honest will mean when they sit down, there clothing is going to come into contact with the floor. which may not be the most cleanest giving that people may not have the best aim while flying. giving that bumps happen in flight. That staff member will then have to pull those then contaminated clothes back up. and will be expected to serve food in them....
Something is telling me, whoever designed these have absolutely no idea what so ever about the day to day goings on a plane by both the staff and customers.
I am sure the line of "being neutral is going to go down well when a customer falls ill to this"
In future, how about focusing on serving the needs of the customers and providing a good service instead of virtue signalling to a tiny group of people that are typically the same groups of people that are protesting for the reductions of flying. it seems you are trying to cause your selves to fail, you seem to support decisions that will end up facilitating that.

The worst airline I have ever dealt with. British Airways lost a dog for over 60 hours, claimed “proper care” was provided, and offered points. Not only are they unethical, but British Airways makes unauthorized charges on customer cards. Look at their Yelp page if you want to see honest reviews. Their customer service is rude and dishonest.
The Old Uniform Looks Better, It was Timeless, I Think BA Should do A Poll with Staff about the Uniform. I Don't Understand why BA make something that is Timeless, Outstanding, Modern and Most Importantly British and then Replace it with Crap! Like the Landor Livery and Replacing it with the Project Utopia Designs. It Doesn't Make Sense, Why BA?

Bleak, bland, unoriginal. The old uniform was iconic. Gone are the days of the old BA before mixed fleet, budget cuts, and the shafting of older, more experienced staff on salaries BA didn’t want to continuing paying.

I’ve seen the photos of the women’s FA jumpsuit. That’s the most sexist thing I’ve seen in aviation so far this year. You obviously didn’t get input from your female FAs on this design.
