    Hey man. Just want to say thank you so much for your enthusiasm and inspiration. I didn't know how to foil at all but am finally able to dock start and this vid was one of the first (of many) that I watched. Good stuff.

    As a Jump-Pump-Glider I would recommend getting the Jump and Glide (momentarily) down before adding the Pumping.

    Thanks Damien. Great stuff as always. What about the foil depth relative to the water at the time of the launch. Just under, few inches under, slightly above, flushed,...?

    • @DamienLeroyYouTube
      @DamienLeroyYouTube  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question! I would try to have the foil wing as high to the surface of the water when running, so when you jump on you have a down glide to get momentum up and pump. If it's further down in the water you will not have much room. I hope that makes sense.

    Got no dock around, so I tried something I saw on Instagram; to start from an inflatable SUP. Had someone to hold the end so I have something to push against, otherwise the SUP just slides out beneath the feet, but man it is difficult. I did alot of pumping lately when kitefoiling, but of course 20 tries is not enough to get it right. Only so many tries until the partner is tired of holding down the SUP. But so much better than the desperate tries of beachstarting or starting from a nasty rock in the water. But I think if you just tie it up nicely to a dock, an inflatable SUP might actually be really good platform, compared to a flat wall dock or a floating platform with poles at the end. Nothing is under the SUP so the foil can go under it, and it is safer for you and the foil in case of falling on or crashing into the inflatable.

      Great advice thanks - in Vietnam we don't yet have docks (despite 3.5K km coastline - possibly in the cities where the water is not clean) - so gonna try the inflatable SUP option

      If you have no suitable dock, I suppose the easiest way would be ladder start with a huge front wing (I would go with my Gong Curve XXL 2800cm2)

    Excellent instruction! I have a very short dock to start so no running unfortunately. And have problems keeping my hands on the board to stabilize take-off. Any ideas on that?

    Great video! Two questions, do you have some tips for preventing falling on the foil leading to nasty injuries? I had one accident last year and it did get in my head a bit. Would be great to have a video about that! Other question, apart from being able to run with the board to dockstart it, are there certain limits concerning size of the board to do this? I have a 60 liter F one wingfoil board for example. Thanks in advance, keep up the good work :)

    • @DamienLeroyYouTube
      @DamienLeroyYouTube  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tough questions: Well there is no easy way to crashing or saying there is a right way to fall. Best advise is take it slow you will get it, but everyone just wants to foil with out putting the time into learning the wing and getting very good with it, then focusing on the foil. Less likely to have an issue when all focus can be on the foil. As for dock starts a bigger board can work but harder to manage on the dock running. It can work though.

    Thanks nice video, I would like to try, in Italy we have a lot of sea but few wave and few wind... Do you think Axis 1020 or SabFoil 1100 will fit the purpose? Both are low aspect so less glide but big area I guess should pump slowly but at lower speed. Thanks

      Try the Sabfoil 1250 if you already own other Sabfoil/Moses gear. Notice though that the 1250 requires the 700HS fuselage.

    does the stabilizer make much of a difference? Gonna try with my moses 1100 front wing and either 370 or 450 stabilizer.

    Check out the channel 'Wake Thief'. Devon has so much on pumping a foil and he has researched/created so many ways to lake foil from dock starting to a bunch assist launch. He even created a device to hold the board for you to jump on it from a dock.

      Check out the channel 'Wake Thief'. Devon describes his search for the perfect foil and board combination for dock starts and pumping. He does really scientific analysis.

    • @DamienLeroyYouTube
      @DamienLeroyYouTube  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am not aware of a Hi:Rise XL, I believe they only made it in a Large. It is not ideal as more lift will help. It will take a lot more work to get it to go as you have to run faster than a larger wing. It's a little older of a foil so at the time the HA or very high lift foils were not out yet. My thoughts.

    Damien - These tutorials are really interesting and helpful, but some feedback to make them more informative and entertaining would be to do the narration live while you perform the maneuver, or to show more footage of the actual technique. In my opinion watching you standing on the beach talking about the technique is not so interesting nor informative. Check out videos like duotone academy where the entire video is just the example subject performing the technique with a voice over. Even better would be a video of you narrating live with a water proof mic doing what you're teaching us. Each of your videos is only 25% actual footage of the technique/move vs. you standing on the beach.
