I remember Cassandra Goth being left at the altar like as soon as you loaded into the household in sims 2! That’s the kinda lore I was looking forward to seeing in the sims 4
Absolutely wild that the general consensus on this game is that after a decade, 76 DLC sets and nearly $1200 it's FINALLY starting to feel like a full, complete game. It would take the Sims team very little money and effort to update the original lots and families with all the new features that have trickled back into the base game over the years. Like they've been doing with the more recent packs, they could have other simmers renovate the lots or do makeovers or adjust the lore. Or EA could just do it themselves but they wouldn't make money doing that so it likely won't happen. It's just laughable, there's less than 10 families total in the base game and not a single one could set up all the relationships, jobs and skills the way they're supposed to be
I want to like this game, but it has turned into such a cash grab. I really hope Paralives can give EA some competition or at least an alternative for Sims players. I miss the open world, because you could easily multitask with your Sims, which is important, if you have a large family. Yes, Sims 3 didn’t handle it perfectly, but Sims 4 could’ve improved on it. Being stuck on one lot at a time is very limiting.
The fact this game is 10 years old and is still a dumpster fire is a travesty. Being a lover of the franchise for over 20 years, it hurts my soul. The only positive I have is the building is easier.
I’m from New Orleans, and I never realized that Willow Creek was supposed to be based off of the city, but it makes more sense now. It’s more reminiscent of the houses in the Uptown area (the more rich looking houses lol), except for the shotgun houses. Like you said, I wish there were more shotgun houses, and I also wish the shotgun houses were as colorful and antique as the actual shotgun houses we have here. The ones in the game are so gray and bland lol. However, I did notice the steamboat that floats in the river! That’s the only thing I actually realized lmao
imo, I feel as if several ts4 worlds that suffer from this/similar issues. for instance, san sequoia is supposed to be san francisco, but it feels much more suburban that urban. similarly, mt komorebi is their only japanese world, but there are no apartments (ie evergreen harbor) or cityscapes, following the pattern of favoring rural/suburban environments
At the very least, it would be nice if you could spot people in their yards and chat, or catch then coming out of the door. I think it was right stepping back from the open world, but having a bit more openness at the neighbourhood level feels achievable. I wouldn't want the colour wheel back, I feel like that added too much to the system loading for Sims 3. What I would wish for though is to have two part swatches for items like beds. We have so many single beds each with their own bedding swatches, but far too often either the frame or the bedding doesn't fit the room. It would be nicer (and possibly even save space) if we could mix and match those, especially if the bedding was copied between bedframes. 10 frames with 8 swatches each gives 80 combinations. if the 10 frames had 8 swatches just for the material, and the bedding had 30 swatches that could be mixed and matched, that would give 2400 different beds, but for only a very small increase in memory usage compared to the wheel which need to record the pattern used, the exact colours (1-4 multiplied by the 6 values that define a computer colour (RGBHSV)). It wouldn't be quite as flexible but would make it much easier to get something close to what you want
Watching you slowly become a sims four apologist has honestly been so fun, although I’m 90% sure it has something to do with you playing all the older console games. Like you played so many low graphic, 2 fps console games that your brain started to associate that type of quality with the sims, so when you finally touched the new, shiny sims four for the first time in a minute, you started to actually vibe with it.
This is hilarious and rude 😭 it’s a free game (the base game which is what she is reviewing) dude, an “apologist” is actually so extreme. And then taking the time to come up with this scenario/idea where playing low quality games (which she does) equates to her taste changing is wild. What is with this comment section and creating weird narratives that don’t prove causation? Get a grip, she likes the game- it’s a cool game, she’s not promoting fascism, destroying a community, or becoming an “apologist” for enjoying some things (and I don’t know if you noticed but absolutely disliking others like infants, lack of changing colors separately on items, make up, hair colors, lack of pools and other items that kept her from playing till they got added). Chill out, Betty.
@UhmMaybeNot Woah, just to clarify-my comment was never meant to be rude, and I wasn’t trying to create some random scenario or idea. I was just making a joke. Also, in Liss’s livestream for Simmer’s for Palestine, she literally joked about it, saying something like, “It’s kinda crazy, but lately I’ve been slowly becoming a Sims 4 apologist.” So no, it wasn’t some extreme or out-of-nowhere statement. I wasn’t even criticizing her for liking The Sims 4?? I’ve been playing Sims 4 non-stop since release-if anyone should be judged, it’s probably me. So honestly, maybe don’t feel the need to defend someone when there’s no actual argument or fight to defend? Take a step away from the keyboard UhmMaybeNot, calm the fuck down.
@B3TTY14 You make one "negative" (though, it wasn't meant to be negative) comment about a YT'ber and their beloved fan base will attack you. It's sad. If you can't allow criticism in your own community, then you may be in a cult. Just saying. I agree with your original comment. 👏 I want to add this: as a Simmer who has been playing since the first generation, I wish players wouldn't tolerate EA's shady business. I wish they would call them out on their shenanigans more. Maybe things would change for the better if people wouldn't allow themselves to be stomped on.
People honestly love to hate on the sims 4 and take it way too far. I played the sims 2 growing up and love it. If I want to play sims 2, I play sims 2. I don’t need sims 4 to be an echo of it. I tried sims 3 and really did not like it one bit. I agree about the color wheel. Changing the bed frames and sheets separately like in the sims 2 would be plenty. I honestly think people have forgotten how bad build/buy and CAS were in previous sims games lol! There are so many options in base game and it’s literally free. I own basically every pack through years of steam sales but this game is literally FREE TO PLAY NOW. Obviously the game has issues but the sims team has gotten infinitely better over the years at adding lore, awesome items, diverse CAS, and stunning worlds. Plus SO many free items and updates for the base game. Things that previous sims games did not have. I respect you so much for being honest because reading these comments? Honestly shocking how much people want other people to despise the sims 4 lol!
I so agree with you! But it's just this toxic culture of sims players that I don't get. If they hate it so much, they can stop playing it. I loved sims 2 as well, not a huge fan of sims 3 which was ugly and glitchy (although did have some pretty fun gameplay). The colour wheel was actually a nightmare, and building and decorating was rough. I loved to build in sims 2 and just stopped with sims 3. Sims 4 is a great game! People act like they are forced to buy all the packs, but if a pack seems boring or glitchy or not up to your standards, you don't have to buy it. That's the whole point. The game itself is beautiful, with a great interface and loads of options when it comes to gameplay options. It's funny and silly. It has all sorts of weird and wonderful quirks. I'm a fan, and I think people need to try harder to enjoy stuff. But complaining is just so darn addictive.
This was so interesting. I was the opposite. I was right there the moment it launched. I had recently discovered The Sims 3 and was in love with the franchise. I was in awe of the technical improvements and was having the most fun ever because I wasn't an experienced player at all and didn't know much about what it lacked but I was so impressed by the animations and how everything was smooth and it took one second to save the game. I was fully in love with the TH-cam community of Sims 4 builders and creators and the simsie save. It was as the years went by when i slowly lost the interest for the game. The Star Wars pack was the final nail in the coffin for me. I did came back for Country Living and still think it's the best pack ever made for the game in terms of quality but also one of the last ones I tried out
In regards on the open world. I played the sims 3 on ps3 and think that would be a sweat spot. At the very least we should be able to visit our neighbors with no loading screen. BUT thats in a perfect world. Its quite clear the Sims 4 just wasn't built for that. A healthy dose of realism is always good. Also The Sims 3 for ps3 has a sort of thermometer to let you know when you have to much furniture. Which i think they also definitely should've done aswell. I think they framed it as a "fire hazard* in the game. Which i genuinely believed when i was younger. Lol In regards to hair, hard disagree. We should have a color wheel for hair. Or even something similar to the makeup swatches we can do. Where you get every single color and can modify the darkness and lightness, and maybe replace opacity with shine? Probably just shine opacity.
Great job EA! It only took 10 years to make a decently playable game to be able to compare it to its predecessors... Sims 2 will always reign supreme to me, and I say that with hundreds of hours into Sims 4 at this point. Sims 3 color wheel was another notable mention. I play mainly as a builder and the detail they put into the prior games is unmatched.
You create a sim, build a house, congratulations, the fun is over. That's general experience with Sims 4. Matching wood samples is a nightmare, 70% of the world is unplayable shell. At this point I'm not even interested in pirating this game. Whole idea of emotions is broken, you can get a sudden fear, that just overrides your sim's whole mood. Relationships between sims look like a joke, towns have no amenities for toddlers, animals are split up into 3(!) packs, loading screens, loading screens, loading screens. And it still runs like shit on weaker systems, even though the whole point of abandoning open-world concept was to improve the gaming experience for folks with laptops and older PCs. If you compare Sims 4 and Sims 3 basegame (which is 15 years old at this point), it feels like a huge step back on EA's part. As I said, CAS and Build/Buy were the only improvements that game had been given.
Gameplay has improved recently. A couple of years ago I could barely get it to work. Lost my whole library in some glitch out...just gone😢. They've obviously been working on the game and I'm glad for that, wish it hadn't taken so long. Great video Liss, hope your holidays are going well❤
all of your opinions are incredibly correct. never met anyone who felt the same about the color wheel. i get decision paralysis, i don’t need infinite color options. also emptied my mods folder a while back, and my game runs so well now it’s crazy
I occasionally miss being able to customise the colours of clothes, but then I remember how overly large that menu is, and yeah, I'm basically okay with not having it.
I don't get it personally, the feeling yall get about it. You could ignore the wheel and pattern picker completely if you wanted, there were regular swatches in the game as well as that
I'm just sat here going "She's keeps cooking, there's gotta be a mistake soon, right?" (Alright, I disagree slightly on adding more story, but only because I remember the Sims 2 being a buscrash with it)
I have the same thoughts about the neighborhoods. I get that the open world got too sparse at times but there should be a sweet spot between that and needing a full on loading screen to go next door. (and preferably a quicker way to travel between neighborhoods in the same world)
Hey, Liss! I don't know if you've talked about this before, but i'd love a video about Fantasy Life, the 3DS game, since there is a sequel coming out for the Switch.
I barely ever used the color wheel in Sims 3, but it was nice to have when I did. Its existence doesn’t mean you have to use it every time. Even in Sims 4, 9 times out of 10 I just grab the object with the top swatch and forget to look at the other swatches, but when I am going for a theme its nice to see there are options. The point of a feature is its a tool there to be used when you need it and Sims 4 has a color match problem between many of its objects that a color wheel could fix.
i think it'd be a good idea to have the colour wheel as an option since a lot of people want it, but also have the normal options (like have a colour wheel button next to the set colour options)
@@TheDawnofVanlife i think i would prefer a separation of swatch options for certain parts like the video mentioned, but i do agree that sometimes the lack of swatches for certain color palettes is irritating
@@itownieShockingly, Sims 2 had that where you could pick bedspread and frame swatches separately. Also Sims 3 had swatches, the color wheel is just extra. You don’t have to use it. Its just an extra tool.
As someone who has only ever played base game on a laptop, I love it. I think it works for it being free and has a lot to offer without overloading my laptop that I also use for college. I understand why some people gripe, but I generally don’t feel any negative sentiment over base game, tbh.
I did a basegame rags to riches earlier this year to force myself to use what’s there and there is a lot there now compared to when I bought the game, circa 2016-17 (I’m a vampires girlie lol) and the lack of swatches is what really gets me more often than not. I don’t know if I agree with you on the color wheel stuff, since ts3 create a style also had preset texture swatches you could use, but I didn’t *always* use it. I just had the option, and I did like that. I agree that the sensible middle ground would be having secondary swatches on items like beds so you can change the frame and sheets independently of each other, and the 2014-ness of the OG furniture design could definitely by and large use new colors, at the very least. Wallpapers and siding included in that!
Sims 3 had like 2 or 3 premade swatches though, very very few options if you didn't like using the colour wheel. I like how many swatches are in the sims 4 and I personally love not having to use a colour wheel, but I don't think there would be any issue with them adding a colour wheel for those who do want to use it.
@ yeah that’s my thing, I really think that the color wheel is not for everyone or even not for every play through, but having the option (and the juicy juicy breakdown of swatches that comes with it) would be SUCH a game changer
I've only played the first Sims way back when, so this crash course on the innovations of the game series was very informative. Upon seeing how complex the customization has become in these games I think it would be enjoyed most by future: structural architects, interior home designers, and professional life coaches. Great vid Liss, really diggin' the knit, see ya next year!
8:35 I'm sorry but this is a terrible, awful, no-good non-point. Taking into account that it was likely said with some level of lightheartedness and jest, colour wheels were objectively better because not only did it allow you to pick the exact texture/design you wanted for an item you could pick the exact colour down to the hex code, and even then it isnt required that you use the hex code system as the colour swatches + colour wheel also existed for ease of use. There is absolutely zero reason to provide fewer customization options in a game where customizing a character is one of the main aspects. It allows any possible combination of things to be achieved and if one doesnt want to interact with that system they can still just as easily use swatches.
As someone who plays on new xbox series X and never had mods, I can say there are packs that are in fact broken, and not just subjectively. And we deserve better than that. Island living is SO beautiful but pretty much unplayable. And they’re advertising the crap out of that pack for some reason as if it’s not broken for the majority of players.
And I don’t think that just because “it’s not completely broken “ that they should get a pass. All the packs are broke should be fixed before they pump out more . I refuse to buy more stuff from sims 4 till they get their priorities straight. Especially with CC creator packs. Packs made for console players that they get no profit from because we can’t use creator codes on console. The creators deserve payment. I hate this community.
Console is a different port or version of the game to pc. It's possible that the console version is broken, but the pc versions definitely aren't. Many on pc who claim the packs are broken use mods or (somehow) have a pc that's system can't run the game.
Wow I absolutely agree with a LOT you talk about xD the sims 4 lacked so much at first but I agree it’s definitely gotten better over the years. They could still make a lot of improvements but I’m happy overall. :) the only thing I disagree with is that I LOVE infants , they’re just so cute and it’s very realistic that they’re difficult! But I get why it can be too much for some people lol
Sims 3 is abandoned and broken, but plenty of people still make excuses for that, or trot out the list of mods that you need. I find it comical for example that the World Adventures pack has the broken sign board which is game breaking, or the University graduation ceremony can break family relationships, but apparently that game isn't buggy?... The double standards amuse me. I'm glad they've added a team to chase down Sims 4 bugs, but I wish the report feature was integrated with the game so it was easier for people to report them, or even just casually scroll to see what bugs they might have
My favourite is when they complain that Sims 4 "needs mods to make it fun" (which is subjective) then say 3 is much better and you only need (list multiple mods) to get it to run.
@@lannamcf Currently arguing with one who thinks 4 is a cash grab. Just introduced them to Sims 3 asking for $25 for a hot air balloon with a world attached... and the $17 greenhouse kit...
I’ve learned to love the sims 4 too. I used to despise it but I’ve been having lots of fun. The mods are also amazing! I also agree with you about the color wheel. I’m a graphic designer who already has to deal with this on a daily basis so I don’t want to deal with it in my free time either.
I know you can resize rugs with the [ and ] keys, but I must admit I find it a bit annoying when there is no cost change as that feels dumb. I wish there was an option to mix and match different sizes and shapes with the swatches.
I actually do own (almost) every single pack 😅 the sims 4 is one of my main hobbies, i‘m certainly not rich but i‘m not a student anymore. I can buy myself packs if i want to. And my pc rarely runs into any issues nowadays. It used to be fairly broken but I don’t think the hate of the community is a representation of the state of the Sims 4
I love the Sims 4! Sometimes, I feel like people complain about it/hate on it because it's a habit. I have so much fun with it, I think it's quirky and silly, I love the art style, I love a lot of the packs. There are a couple of duds, sure. I know there's the cash grab argument, but this has been the sims model since the beginning, and I would rather they keep making cool packs that I can decide whether or not I want rather than them doing nothing, and no, they will not be making packs for free, and that's fine. I must say, the Life and Death pack is amazing and just so The Sims, I absolutely love it!!! This game rocks. I just think the community around it is quite toxic and negative a lot of the time.
the main reason I can't get into this game is the fact that they didn't make at least the little neighbourhoods open world. As you said it breaks the immersion. I just can't forgive them that
I remember buying Sims 4 when it launched on Xbox. I played a lot and then stopped. Then a few expansions came out that sounded cool and went back in. Now I play in bursts here and there.
I could not play this game without my mods as it cleans up so many shortcomings of the game without them I could not stand the return of world bleed when celebrities show up at the dump and Sulani Tonwnies show up at the club in San Myshuno in full island gear breaking immersion and looking out of place. Was it so hard for EA to ensure Sims stay in their homeworld. When I get a new pack, I don’t want to run into the Goths and Landgrabs everywhere. Thank god someone made a mod to make infant milestones faster as they are badly tuned and nearly impossible to get done before aging up on normal lifespan if your sim has a job and is raising kids. Same thing for kids riding a bike, without a mod to adjust the tuning your sim kid will spend their entire childhood practicing bike riding and never learning. Every new pack is badly tuned and wants to take over your entire game experience and drown out the other packs, only various gameplay mods help balance this out. Half my mods just adjust annoying tuning in the game. Haven’t been able to fish in Sulani nearly ALL YEAR. A modder finally made a fix. Off-Grid lot challenge corrupted with a pack this year, a modder finally fixed it. Owned bussiness wouldn’t open if you were playing a non-owner family, a modder fixed it. And these are the mods I have just to make the game do things its suppose to do anyway. These aren’t even ‘personal gameplay style’ or ‘for fun’ mods. Do I enjoy the 30 rotationally families in my save, yes. But only because of mod fixes. This game would be a literal nightmare without mods as its good points would be drowned out by the mounting list of bad ones. And I can’t wait to sample Paralives and InZoi in 2025 l. Crossing my fingers they both launch because EA needs to know we have options.
It’s nice to see that you enjoy the game. Although I hate sims 4, people shouldn’t tell you that you’re gaslighting yourself about liking it. It’s just plain rude!
I have my complaints with this game, but I could never call it flat out broken, just that I have a complicated relationship with it. I play both vanilla and with a ton of mods, and either way you slice it, I often have to deal with glitches and bugs that make certain gameplay features unusable: laundry is always broken, gardening has been broken since Cottage Living was released and is still not fixed, there are a ton of bugs with stuff like knitting and other skills or activities. Often I download mods to get certain features to work because EA hasn't fixed it yet. It's a one step forward, two steps back relationship with the devs: tons of new color swatches for BG, great!; why is Seasons still an EP? Boo. Just a mixed bag overall... And yet I keep coming back 🙄
31:25 this is honestly one of my biggest gripes lol sometimes there is TOO much control over the sims. like.. do something without me telling you guys please 💔
I hated the colour wheel. It was slow and glitchy and made everything take forever since there were almost no premade options. I'd pick sims 4 colour options over that a million times.
So some more thoughts: 1. The English Simmer did a video asking what people would like to see for the Sims 4 after listing her own. I have a ridiculous list, but I won't repeat that here, just mentioning the video as it might be of interest to you. 2. Yeah the colour wheel was a bad idea as it just increased the space needed to record all the information. You need 6 values to record a digital colour (Red, Green, Blue, Hue, Saturation, Value), so you had that for every item in the world for the sims, multiplied by how many colours a swatch has, multiplied by the number of swatches the item has... The idea of a multiple swatches for an item could work if the swatches were fixed. I will be honest a few things like beds and bedding it would be cool if they had a two part, and I feel like you could actually have a lot more variation by doing that with only a small memory change (since you would only need 1 value for each swatch to say which one was picked) 3. You picked a bad scenario unfortunately. The ones with designed households (like the parenting one or 'New In Town') do a lot more to show what they could be, but I hate that what could be a fun monthly SDX drop has been dropped. It's not that hard to do scenarios surely? They could also do a scenario with every pack as a tutorial for those who want one, instead of an aspiration as those don't make sense and rarely feel aspirational. I also wish that there were cross pack scenarios and that they were emergent instead of requiring you to start a new save file every time. Could you imagbine a scenario that took advantage of 4. I wish we could just start a sim in CAS with a relevant set of skills. Why can't I create an Adult who is level 8 in the doctor career with the correct skills, when the game actually lets you 'cheat' after? The game already tells players about the motherlode cheat if they want to play on easy mode. It would at least be an easy way to build families for a save file at least. 5. I wish there was a way to set a 'default' set of lots for the worlds in a new save file. I have a modified gym and park in Willow creek, replace the gallery in Oasis Springs with a Museum of Science and Industry ('Oasis Springs MoSI' on the gallery), and a few lots I add to Newcrest when I want to start a new save. It would also maybe be a way to set up relationships between other sims. I think a big problem with 4 is that it inherited the way of setting up a personality from 3 instead of going back to 1 or 2, or doing something new. It always frustrated me in both 3 and 4 where sims would randomly use the introduction that started a romance, there just doesn't seen to be inherent personalities so much as preferences for certain activities. I don't think it was the case in 2, but in 3 and 4 it feels like you can make friends with anyone, with the traits maybe making it a little harder if you didn't micro manage the interactions. It's why I'm not so fussed about the 'lore' of the sims is because it never seems to manifest in gameplay, interacting with the Landgraabs doesn't feel any different to any other townie, nor do they seem to do anything autonomously that feels particularly like a real person. This is what Sims 4 needs to fix more than anything for me, but with the number of traits they've given out, I can't seem them getting far enough away from that personality model.
I miss having the color wheel the most. Open world would be cool but if I had to pick between the two I would want the color wheel back! I am a BUILDER! The fact you could have entirely custom furniture in your house. OR, even better.. all the wood patterns could actually MATCH. Alright TED talk over lol
Yeah i went back to basegame just bc i missed building in the game. And noticed that even tho theres lots of content missing... It ran so well. No simulation lag and no other crap going on. If i want to play sims im just going to suck it up anf play only base game. I do miss my favorite objects and stuff. I kind of wish there was an option to add the items and not the gameplay from packs 😅 the base game is fine enough for a sims game. I even enjoyed live mode for a bit again
this is SO interesting as someone who went from sims 2 (my mom had all the expansion packs & tons of CC & id sit and play/watch her play for hours on saturdays) straight to sims 4. my mom didn’t buy sims 3 and I was the one who bought sims 4 for a birthday in highschool (which my mom and I share an EA login for and both buy packs to share) bc sims 2 was all on discs and I only had a mini laptop. I have never been up to date on the sims 3 comparisons 😂
I think the Sims 4 is interesting if we as players are more imaginative, as a new player and content creator for the Sims 4, who played previous Sims and Sims 2. It’s fun but I’m looking forward to more diversity in the base game, worlds, recipes, etc…. I’m totting for an Afro-inspired world. Just subscribed 🫶
Look, for all the issues the Sims 4 has today, at least it runs, good God, the Sims 3 runs like it had both ankles broken. I know why, but still it's been 15 years and computers are still not good enough to run it!
I always forget newcrest exists except on the rare occasion i mix up willow creek and newcrests tags and load in the wrong neighborhood lol Also i didnt know they updated it so we can paste makeup 😭 ive been wasting so much time doing that 😂😂😂
I am sorry but for me Sims 4 still looks flat compared to its predecessors. I downloaded base Sims 4 snd deleted cause it was no fun without packs. But I still enjoy my rare collection of Sims 3 with all extensions packs (which was 'oh my god' 50 dollars or so). So yeah, to my full enjoyment I will probably need to spend 1K of extation packs? Like yeah, no, thank you, EA - a money greedy conveir machine.
Well, for me it sucked. You were forced to use it because there were almost no premade options, and it just took forever to do anything. It made CAS/Build buy glitchy and slow. I don't think she means complicated to understand, just it required a lot of effort, and for people who were more interested in gameplay than CAS or building, it was a real headache. I wouldn't mind if there was a colour wheel in sims 4 for people who enjoyed it, but I would also want the same number of premade options for those of us who can't be assed.
I loathed the sims 4 and played out of obligation for a while but since the romance and death pack I have been HOOKED it's like drama city sims 3 style all over again
Oh my God was City living I have my sim living there and all the festivals are continuously just going on at once next to my house I have the romance festival and the geek festival and all of the vendors just merged into one pile of mush where my sim can't even get to anything.
watching this in hopes that I will be able to settle for playing the base game free on my xbox because I can’t access the hundreds of dollars of content i’ve bought because my computer cannot hold space for any more updates, i’ve tried everything I can (but any advice is appreciated)
Thank you for this video! It gave me some much needed insight. I haven’t played the sims 4 since launch because it wasn’t fun for me. Should I give it another shot? Yes. Will I do that? No. Because I’m happy playing sims 2 and 3. 😊 I don’t like how EA is absolutely milking the franchise and the sims 4 stans get on my nerves. Do I spread negativity in the sims community because of that? No. I just don’t watch any let’s plays of it or engage in any sort of conversation. At the end of the day it’s everyones own choice how to spend their free time and money. But I don’t care for the next generation games anymore. EA disappointed me hard and I don’t get my hopes up anymore. 🤷🏼♀️
I remember Cassandra Goth being left at the altar like as soon as you loaded into the household in sims 2! That’s the kinda lore I was looking forward to seeing in the sims 4
I wish!!
It's just laughable, there's less than 10 families total in the base game and not a single one could set up all the relationships, jobs and skills the way they're supposed to be
i just had an existential crisis about this being 10 years old lolll
ME TOO
Same. I’ve never even played Sims 3 - I was playing the original The Sims when it first came out when I was a teenager lol.
Hi
And Sims 2 is 20 years old which makes me feel extra old :)
if it is from EA it is okay to torrent it, the sims mainly
But don't bother with this game. It's not worth the PC space.
With the weird bugs and glitches, it's not even worth torrenting it
I want to like this game, but it has turned into such a cash grab.
I agree, there’s far too many packs imo
Sims went full on cash grab with the market in 3, 4 is a step back from that, but still could have stepped fuirther...
The fact this game is 10 years old and is still a dumpster fire is a travesty. Being a lover of the franchise for over 20 years, it hurts my soul. The only positive I have is the building is easier.
Everything related to customization is great. Everything related to gameplay is _garbage._
And there’s still dlc that came out years ago that’s broken
All I want is a colour wheel and an open neighbourhood. LET ME INTO YOUR HOUSE WITHOUT A LOADING SCREEN!!!!
It's crazy that you posted this today because I JUST started playing the Sims 4 again yesterday haha
@B3TTY14 that makes sense, your comment seemed rude at first but I can see where you are coming from. I’ll step back, my bad. 🤷🏽♀️
Probably because Sims 4 isn't even good if you don't compare it to the others. It's a buggy, overpriced shell of a game.
sims 4 fucking sucks
Lol
In regards to hair, hard disagree.
All those predecessors are fully fleshed out games that have dozens of expansion packs to compare against.
only thing I have to add after watching this is that the create a style of sims 3 solves your rug issue
Also, being unable to change the town layout or even add a few lots is some first-class BS. The map looks worse than Sims 2's one.
you said it all
Oh yeah. I pirated Sims 4 + all the expansions, then literally deleted it because _it wasn't worth the space on my PC._
couldnt have said it better myself
THANK YOU!
having a rough night and one of my favorite youtuber puts out a video about my favorite game... liss, you are a blessing 🫶
0:21 i was a child saving up my pocket money to buy this game. AND NOW ITS FREE.
i will never let that down.
Gameplay has improved recently. A couple of years ago I could barely get it to work. Lost my whole library in some glitch out...just gone😢. They've obviously been working on the game and I'm glad for that, wish it hadn't taken so long. Great video Liss, hope your holidays are going well❤
I've been running into the Pancakes in town a lot lately and they're always chill, definitely haven't realized they aren't happy
Yea maybe because sims default emotion is happy. They cant smell their own sh💩t without smiling dramatically.
@AJLikesGamesAlot except Bella. Bella can't stay happy for a full minute
all of your opinions are incredibly correct. never met anyone who felt the same about the color wheel. i get decision paralysis, i don’t need infinite color options. also emptied my mods folder a while back, and my game runs so well now it’s crazy
I occasionally miss being able to customise the colours of clothes, but then I remember how overly large that menu is, and yeah, I'm basically okay with not having it.
I don't get it personally, the feeling yall get about it. You could ignore the wheel and pattern picker completely if you wanted, there were regular swatches in the game as well as that
People will nitpick what you say, but I appreciate your honesty! Mods really are a pain too, I feel that. Often not worth the headaches.
Honestly agree about the color wheel not having it saves me so much time
ALSO HEAVY AGREE ON THE NEED FOR MORE RUGS 😭😭 different wall decor would be nice too
I barely ever used the color wheel in Sims 3, but it was nice to have when I did.
I played base game for years before I even heard there were packs.
video starts at 5:40 also the Sims 4 is a plague on the franchise and now we’ll never see the Sims 5 because of it. i hate EA.
Jesus get a life.
@ yeah that’s my thing, I really think that the color wheel is not for everyone or even not for every play through, but having the option (and the juicy juicy breakdown of swatches that comes with it) would be SUCH a game changer
i agree with this! i also get decision paralysis so I would simply pick the black options in ts3 and move on w my day
i moved out of AZ in March, but i totally agree that Oasis Springs is super Arizona coded.
I cannot wait to see you go over the packs! I loooved this video ! 🎉
not the tucson jumpscare almost giving me a heart attack, its so rare that its mentioned 🥺
But I get why it can be too much for some people lol
omg yess! I've been waiting for this!! I can't believe its been 10 years since release!! 💖
Nailed it before years end. Well done. Well done.
Have a great holiday Liss! Hope u had the best time!
I’ve learned to love the sims 4 too. I used to despise it but I’ve been having lots of fun. The mods are also amazing! I also agree with you about the color wheel. I’m a graphic designer who already has to deal with this on a daily basis so I don’t want to deal with it in my free time either.
The rugs yes!!! Like why are they all just never the right shape/size/color
I know you can resize rugs with the [ and ] keys, but I must admit I find it a bit annoying when there is no cost change as that feels dumb. I wish there was an option to mix and match different sizes and shapes with the swatches.
@neilbiggs1353 I agree! And even when sizing with those keys sometimes they size up way too big 😅
I just can't forgive them that
I really enjoy building in newcrest ! So much freedom
I didn't expect to hear you worked at Texas Roadhouse but it fits haha. I hope it wasn't too stressful 😅
omg tucson mentioned heyyyy
I remember buying Sims 4 when it launched on Xbox. I played a lot and then stopped. Then a few expansions came out that sounded cool and went back in. Now I play in bursts here and there.
I think most of my issues with modern Sims is due to be published and monetized by EA.
Your hair looks gorgeous in this vid
Merry Christmas to Liss!
liss' voice is so so nice
And yet I keep coming back 🙄
This might be odd but im starting to feel nostalgia for this game esp the music and sound effects....
i had no idea you were a theatre kid. love that
Crazy how old this game, 10 years later like bro😭😭
I am not really sure but I think I read somewhere that the Roomies Household is inspired by the TV show New Girl
31:25 this is honestly one of my biggest gripes lol sometimes there is TOO much control over the sims. like.. do something without me telling you guys please 💔
just started playing fields of mistria thanks to you!! you really deserve some sort affiliate link from them you’re video was amazing
I would kill for more rugs 😢
this game bein 10 makes me feel ANCIENT
wake up!!!! liss the lass posted 🎉🎉
Over 10 years later and I still LOATHE this game... sims 3 forever !!!! You're insane for not liking the color/texture picker in sims 3
My favourite is Sims 2, but Sims 3 is also a very respectable choice.
I hated the colour wheel. It was slow and glitchy and made everything take forever since there were almost no premade options. I'd pick sims 4 colour options over that a million times.
liss your shirt is so cute
i just cannot get the sims 4 to be fun. ill stick to the other games :,) im glad uve managed to find ur groove with it
So some more thoughts:
I will be honest a few things like beds and bedding it would be cool if they had a two part, and I feel like you could actually have a lot more variation by doing that with only a small memory change (since you would only need 1 value for each swatch to say which one was picked)
3. Could you imagbine a scenario that took advantage of
I haven’t touched this game in a long time.
The game was dead to me from 2015-2021. I tried it briefly in 2021, pirating every expansion, and uninstalled it because it was boring.
The Sims 4 is still lacking cross-pack compatibility. Eric Lewis should be a doctor with Get to Work installed.
video liked saved and shared i dont play about my girl Liss
Yeah i went back to basegame just bc i missed building in the game. And noticed that even tho theres lots of content missing... It ran so well. No simulation lag and no other crap going on. If i want to play sims im just going to suck it up anf play only base game. I do miss my favorite objects and stuff. I kind of wish there was an option to add the items and not the gameplay from packs 😅 the base game is fine enough for a sims game. I even enjoyed live mode for a bit again
Me only playing sims 2 and sims 3
New Lissy!!
this is SO interesting as someone who went from sims 2 (my mom had all the expansion packs & tons of CC & id sit and play/watch her play for hours on saturdays) straight to sims 4. my mom didn’t buy sims 3 and I was the one who bought sims 4 for a birthday in highschool (which my mom and I share an EA login for and both buy packs to share) bc sims 2 was all on discs and I only had a mini laptop. I have never been up to date on the sims 3 comparisons 😂
I’m from Arizona and I always referred to phoenix as the car grave yard due to the town being so hot
AZ girlie represent!
Its a Sims Christmas, baby
Tucson mentioned!!!
Same! I hate the color wheel. "Please decide for me!" 🤭
Look, for all the issues the Sims 4 has today, at least it runs, good God, the Sims 3 runs like it had both ankles broken. I know why, but still it's been 15 years and computers are still not good enough to run it!
san sequoia has a movie theater!
The sims 4 is the most lifeless installment, I still play the sims 3.
Well, guess it’s time to petition a sims free play series, hey, liss?
They said that the next game will not be a continuation of the sims but something similar
Some of the scenarios are much more detailed, Stuck In Their Shadow in particular seems to have a lot more conflict and pop-ups.
Woohoo!
I always forget newcrest exists except on the rare occasion i mix up willow creek and newcrests tags and load in the wrong neighborhood lol

tucson mention RAHHHHHH 🦅🦅 (i hate this place)
I am sorry but for me Sims 4 still looks flat compared to its predecessors. I downloaded base Sims 4 snd deleted cause it was no fun without packs. But I still enjoy my rare collection of Sims 3 with all extensions packs (which was 'oh my god' 50 dollars or so). So yeah, to my full enjoyment I will probably need to spend 1K of extation packs? Like yeah, no, thank you, EA - a money greedy conveir machine.
Love this video, but I'm still looking forward to the Sims 2 psp ❤
“The color wheel is too complicated for Me” is wild lmao💀
I still think they should’ve called Lovestruck the Sims 4: Play lol
Oh my God was City living I have my sim living there and all the festivals are continuously just going on at once next to my house I have the romance festival and the geek festival and all of the vendors just merged into one pile of mush where my sim can't even get to anything.
I really want that sims headband can you give me a link please.
watching this in hopes that I will be able to settle for playing the base game free on my xbox because I can’t access the hundreds of dollars of content i’ve bought because my computer cannot hold space for any more updates, i’ve tried everything I can (but any advice is appreciated)
