By the time you watch this episode of Talking Watches, Curtis McDowald will be in Tokyo, along with the rest of the US fencing team. Fencing, for many Americans, is an exotic sport - so much so that if you mention it, you might very well get a blank stare. (I remember asking a clerk at a Montgomery Ward department store, in the 1970s, if they sold fencing equipment. I ended up in an aisle full of gear for building fences.)
But McDowald and his team hope to change all that - and to establish American fencing as a force to be reckoned with, internationally.

This is what Talking Watches should be about. Who cares about some super rich guy that can buy anything he wants, they all start sounding exactly the same... This is what I've wanted to see from you guys. More like this please.

Sorry but I don’t want to see someone with a humdrum collection / I want to see someone with watches I have never seen before. There is defo space for both styles of collection.

@@Watchlover371 You're missing my point. With a lot of the rich guys you see them same expensive watches over and over again - great at first but after a while it becomes repetitive and in my opinion a bit boring. With a little imagination and some digging you can find fascinating watches that don't need to cost as much as a house. Humdrum? Absolutely not.

I disagree, because "Gucci" make some great looking and quality watches meaning he wasn't just heading in the right direction. You don't need the same boring Swiss names over and over again to be a collector, it's best to be original
