    Beautiful looking town. Can only imagine what it looks like covered in snow.

      Its very nice. In town they do an excellent job of keeping the road clear. Last March they had a heavy snow that blocked the road in/out of town until about 1:00 PM. There is just a single road that runs through the town. The ski slopes are supplemented with man made snow. Outside of town the snow can stay several feet deep all season.6

    Yeah, and it's been up to 112° in Texas. The temperature is always one thing l.liked in NM, except winter in the higher elevations.

    4:03 - There are some fairly steep cliff areas , on right side & very beautiful scenery ! , either you need extrae camera angle to show it , or pivot for the one. Ur an Excellent driver , Rusty!!

    ...also if you consider allowing your kids to enter the water, I STRONGLY recommend they wear tennis shoes; if they get caught by the current, the first reaction most people have is to try to brace themselves with their feet. With bare feet, toes can easily get broken on rocks in the stream. I broke a little toe in the 9th grade on such a stream and it has never been the same since😢.

    Seems like it is a long downhill drive from Questa to Red River. I would keep my vehicle in a lower gear or it will burn up the brakes.

  • @kingforaday8725
    @kingforaday8725 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Last I heard the Questa Mine is owned by Chevron, or one of its subsidiaries . Its a Super Fund site (i.e. super duper polluted!!!). I suppose it depends on which company needs to catch a tax break or govt subsidy!!!I dont believe anything is currently mined. Just being cleaned up. Look at it in Google maps. Basicly a huge hole dug into the mountain. You cannot tell from the road level.

    Love your sense of humor. 👏😊 What a pleasant drive. The reason I started watching your videos is because we are trying to find a retirement base. A couple of years ago New Mexico came to our attention and there was not much information out there. Red River looks beautiful and makes me think of the southern part of Germany. Thank you ❤.

      Actually early Red River had a population of German immigrants. Even today there is the Alpine Lodge and Auslander Condominiums that are of Bavarian influence.

    Down that road to the right where you made the u turn is a butt load of million dollar plus "cabins"!!!!! And most of them are getaway homes! Granted there are normal folk homes too.

    I saw a headline on a local paper while waiting in line at the grocery store today. It stated July 4th was globally the hottest on record. I can understand why anyone who is able to do so heads to higher elevations for the cooler weather.
