The irony of Razer comes from their strong build quality mixed with terrible reliability
I would argue it's good material choices with bad build quality.
@@Combba6i mean good materials are a big part of what makes good build quality
I don't really think they have bad reliability, that seems to be from their older laptops and battery issues. I've had my 2020 blade for 4 years with no issues ever. Meanwhile, I've had 3 friends with Asus laptops that have all went to shit, but no one seems to care about that lol
@@RadaSmada Yeah tbf, the only thing that failed in my Razer laptops were the batteries, which I expect from laptops anyway as the main point of failure.
@@RadaSmada my 2021 Razer Blade is massive piece of shit, and when I used to buy their mice, they were dogshit too. I've finally learned the hard lesson not to buy from razer.
We aren’t making any value judgments but it is sure expensive for what you are getting. What a diplomatic way to put it
Gotta be diplomatic in a sponsored ad video.
I don't understand why you would go for a Razer Blade when the Zephyrus G14 and G16 have the same specs, with an OLED screen and are slightly cheaper.
@@user-ds8rj2vc4v Build quality, better trackpad, more wattage to the 4070: i.e more powerful. Also a better display
700 dollars cheaper for the 4070 is quite a bit cheaper. And the only tradeoff is a less powerful 4070 but you get a 76Wh battery vs 68Wh
@@jacobmarquez9805
"Less powerful" in that it draws less power.
But the RTX 4060 and 4070 both only really utilise about 100W of power.
The 140W versions are only like 1% extra performance for 40% increase in electricity and heat.
If it comes with stickers that aren't on the laptop, put them on. If it comes with stickers that are on the laptop, take them off.
This is the way
Never touch my rtx label or my cpu stickers. Everything else goes
@@benchvatal3265Personally, I don't take the stickers off of computers. Any stickers that come in the box, I put them on something else. This is MY way.
What a shame, no longer in the hot tub.
Mic sounds wierd tho

Literally in a hot tub when I read this
It was a cold tub though.
I prefer shortcircuit in the bathtub
Probably this was previously recorded
These guys have a fun personality that they convey over videos. I know I cant afford these laptops but its still cool to watch
Agreed
I always thought Razer to be one of the top dogs but as I get older I realize that I am more interested in Asus and their G14 for example. But any innovation is great in my eyes!!!
Just josh said razer is bad
Razer is the Apple of windows laptops/accessories.
Razer just has horrible reliability. I used to buy razer mice, but after 3 of them developing the same buggy left click after 1-3 years, I switched to roccat and then Logitech. Never an issue with those. Their laptops also seem to be very unreliabile. Asus g14 I only heard good thing gst.
@@thorwaldjohanson2526 I also use logitech accessories and have never had an issue. I have had razer mice in the past but never used them long enough to develop issues.
@@thorwaldjohanson2526 my razer mouse double clicked after 1 year
I was almost as shocked as Alex seeing those ram slots lol
my jaw literally dropped. UPGRADABLE RAM??!! FROM RAZER???!!! WITHOUT MARKETPRESSURE FROM COMPETITORS??!!! we truly live in a society.
Yikes $2700! I see the Acer Predator 14 on sale at Amazon recently for $1200, with 4070, 240hz mini led with gsync. and intel 13th gen. I’ve owned this for the past 6 months and it has been a brilliant machine for the money.
Is the fan noise near as good as the blade 14?
@@khalifa6413 $5 ear plugs vs $1500 price premium?
Yeah that machine is great for the price!!
@@khalifa6413 it’s loud in performance mode, you will definitely want headphones for gaming or just leave it in quiet mode and put up with reduced performance.
Acer? No thanks, if I’m going to spend $1200, I’d rather get something reliable that isn’t a gamble on if it will die quickly or even arrive broken.

@@jivewigRTX3080 desktop is a 380W, this laptop has a 70Wh battery so it would only last 10 minutes
Having easy to access wifi card, replaceable RAM and an SSD is a massive argument for the Razer Blade 14. It's just a bit of a shame that they still can't figure out a good laptop keyboard, considering that they got big as a company with keyboards.
Their keyboards are complete garbage across the board.
@@stuartstogdill2406 they feel similar to macbook's keyboard, how are they garbage
@@prestonlee7107 That's the thing, macbook keyboards are garbage. I can never get used to their "Butterfly" keyboard. It feels very low quality. Everytime I use it, i feel like the keycap is filled with oils and sweat compare to my g14 2022. I do say, Dell's keyboard is the best. (Yes I do clean the keyboard on the mac, and yes it still feels oily and trash).
PS, I have used two macbook so far 2019 13 inch mac pro, and 2020? 14 inch mac air (m1)
95% of laptop buyers never open their laptop, for obvious reasons, so replaceable components is not a thing for the majority. Some people still live in the modular 20th century and cannot adapt to new ways and therefor miss out on the fastest RAM, and lower latency SSD performance. But that is your choice. From all the studies, SSD and RAM failure is almost non-existent outside the warranty hence the move to soldered. This is not the 1980s where RAM and hard drives fail more regularly.
The MSI Stealth 14 has upgradeable RAM as well, at much cheaper price
USB 4 vs Thunderbolt 4 would be a good video for Techquickie. I think there are slight differences in throughput, DMA, and monitor support but it’s a bit convoluted. I have an AMD laptop with USB4 and I’m using a Thunderbolt dock no problem.
I just got a 2022 Razer Blade Pro, never ever would’ve considered it but at 42% off, actually became a decent deal
I bought last year's version of this laptop specifically because of the upgradable RAM over a few of the other options that were out there. Been very happy with it.
I’m using my 2017 Razer 14 inch everyday.
$2,100 for non-upgradable 16gb ram, a GTX 1060, a 4 core Intel CPU, a 4K screen that gets fuzzy under max load, and 3 battery changes…
Videos like these always make me consider upgrading. I hope Razer’s reliability has only increased since then.
I think 3 battery changes is absolutely fair after 6-7 years of heavy use, especially if u dont take the best care of the battery. I personally daily drive a 2021 Blade 15, a Viper Ultimate, and a huntsman mini, and they've held up like brand new.
@@prestonlee7107 True, I have been using the Dell G5 5500 for 2-3 years and battery was always fine, 4 hours of use every time. I gave it to my little brother and one year later, the battery was completely dead. You stop plugging and the laptop is dead.
The thing to look for is the heat emitting from the laptop, battery easily die if the laptop gets too hot so do use it with care. Game for 1-2 hours and just shut it off until it cools down or just do other light work for it to cool down. Dell G5 5500 easily gets hot and I guess this was one of the main reason for the battery die as my little brother game from morning until evening and never quit the game.
Ngl thats kunda insane ,paying 2100 for a 1060 when i pay for a laptop in the same year wiht a 1050 for 400 usd , also i was able to upgrade the ram and gets hot as hell 💀

I'd say don't downplay the Radeon 780M. That thing can do e-sports titles at mid to high settings with a solid 60fps. Granted, 1080p or 720p if you don't have FSR on, but that's still pretty crazy for integrated graphics. Integrated graphics used to look like accidental Minecraft mod on any game, but now it's honestly a literal game changer... As long as you have a ton of very fast ram. I can't wait for mainstream handheld consoles to start using it, and the next iteration in two or three years will only get better.
You guys still hitting that enhance audio in Premiere.
Some of the LTT videos I can't even watch because they don't mute mics when multiple are in earshot. The double audio is infuriating
I have the 2021 version with a 3070, I bought it when I had cancer and going through treatment, I could game on it but man did it get hot. Got an under-fan thing and it was fine after that. Nearly $3000 back then but I still use/have it. The construction is amazing, my daughter used it for a year or so and it still looked brand new. I give them a thumbs up for the product, but not the price.
Great job guys! I really appreciate the addition of the 1% lows on the FPS counts as well as Alex's screw length PSA ♥
Can we have a full comparison of the G14 and this laptop?
for mic test, can you guys also add background noise to see if the computer do a good job on noise cancelation
I have the blade 14 2024 , it’s perfect for mobility and it feels amazing , there is just something about them.
It’s so clean
The audio is all garbled by the AI "enhancing" from Premiere :( Please don't use it, it's awful especially when Alex has his head turned down
What's up with the audio quality? Not sure if it's just me but doesn't sound near as good as normal
Also permanent Background music,really annoying
@icksdeh omg! I thought something was wrong while I was in the car listening to something else to lol didn't realize the song was background. I literally looked around like 5 times. VERY annoying lol
Maby u have stable audio enabled in yt settings
It's being run through Premiere Pro's Audio Enhancer which makes certain voices sound more vocal fry-ish if they're soft spoken, and levels out the EQ. I use it frequently enough to detect when it's being used. It's better used in moderation, but it sounds like they cranked it all the way up in this video
How's it handle the heat with a 4070 my old one with the 1070 and i7-8700h would heat up to the point it would hurt to touch.
I remember that some time ago you guys started reviewing flex and sound without the deskpad, but I guess we are back to it now?
I always assumed that their audio gear and pc peripherals was managed by the Singapore HQ, while the laptop managed by the USA HQ. But thinking about the pricing, its more likely that all products were produced by the SG side, while the marketing controlled by the USA side.
Alex laptop reviews are my favorite content on this channel

my value judgement is if price is not an issue, OMG, buy this laptop!!!
I mean... 2100 usd for a mobile 4060 =desktop 3060 is kinda insane ,and aslo if price if not a issue ,get a 3k instead 😅
Its actually more similar to a desktop 4060 than a 3060 performance wise if not the exact same. @@patozarantonello8572

Are you guys reviewing the 2024 Yoga Pro 9i with meteor lake any time soon?
What's the song sample used for sound test ?
Like to see a neck to neck comparison with the 16 inch i9... Especially when it comes to battery time...
Have they fixed their battery reliability/quality? I had two batteries inflate on me
I need a laptop gauntlet with this compared to the dell XPS line and even the framework one and similar
was really surprised at the clarity of the camera. And when I saw the ram speed in task manager I was assuming it was socketed memory but internally I was like nah razer always solders memory directly no way and would you look at that upgradable ram in a 14" laptop, Thats fucking awesome props to razer.
Razer needs to start their essential branding on their laptops so they can compete in the lower price bracket, If I could get a more composite build/shell for a 1400$ with a 4060 now were talking.
I bought a brand new Razr in 2019, the motherboard failed after 1 year. And it was a pain to get them to cover that because it was "past the warranty period". I basically had to leave review on 10 different channels before someone reached out to solve the problem. If i spend a few grand on a laptop, I expect either really good customer service and/or really freaking good reliability. But i know some Razr fan boys will disagree
hows the battery ?
I need other's input to whether get a Razer Blade 14 or the Dell XPS Plus 14. I'll be using it for music production. Any advice or things of that nature?!?!
The channel Just Josh is all laptop focused. Id check out some of his videos. Idk if its the same XPS you're talking about, but he said this years version is terrible. And music production generally requires CPU power btw.
Im on my 3rd Blade as the RGB on the keyboards fails after around 5 months or so. 1st stopped showing blue, 2nd some keys wouldnt show anything and my current (no longer under warrenty as it was a replacement) has lost green on multiple keeys andd f10 and F will only show Orange :(
why would you buy a third when the last two tried to tell you that they're unreliable?
@@kh-ro5su Bought 1st which failed, 2nd was replacement under warrenty which then failed and went back so i only bought the first.
Love the editing saying "MHC 2 profile"😂😂
tried to hook up my Onkyo to the OLED, it only does 8 bits, 8k 24bit, where 12 bit is 48bit, so the picture is super dull. So just turn on 7.1 and run away.
I actually liked the Hot Tub unboxing vibe
My main issue with Razer has always been their QC. I remember so many of their laptops would have problems it just never seemed worth it
GOD i wish i could afford this laptop or the G-14 2024. Must be a nice feeling to own one of these gaming beasts.
I'm looking for a new 14inch laptop and was looking at an Asus G14, but this one also looks quite nice...
Yay finally I was waiting for the review of this machine! I own the 4060 model of this and it performs great. The price I cant complain about because I got this as a service replacement device. With razer, their laptops are great but when it comes to warranty and service, its takes down everything that is good with it. I wish they can have good customer service and devices at the same time...
2:53 my monitor has 0.3 didn’t realize how insane that was till now lol
I will forever be sad that I never pulled the trigger on one of the first Razer Blade 17" models with that sweet LCD track pad on the right of the keyboard. So innovative looking. This looks great. Way too expensive unfortunately.
I think I won the silicon lottery with my 2020 1660ti 15" model, because I've had one blue screen in 4 years with no other issues. Probably just gonna do hardware upgrades since nothing else is a problem. Hopefully it stays that way.
whats it like under ubunutu .. I will guess the sound sucks
Re. NPUs - I got a laptop from Lenovo with the 7840HS - not able to use the NPU! Turns out Lenov failed to enabled it in the bios, extremely frustrating! I only chose the AMD version because of that NPU.
That overlay of MHC2 was so strange 😂
I wonder how long before Google has a Sora alternative that can doctor edits with lip sync and voice tone matching.
Got a Blade. Had to send it in for repair 3 times because of random components just failing. Once the warranty expired, Razer in the kindest way told me to fuck right off.
Don't buy their garbage.
Upgradable RAM. I never thought about a Razor, but this one has all check marks!
They could have done better in the upgrade tbh. Imo its crazy how even the 30 series razer laptops still cost sooo god dam much. Last years model is barely a discount compared to this years too...
shame there wasn't anything regarding thermals but good overall outline ^_^ kinda want one tho the new 16" screen looks amazing
Maybe it broke down before he opend it ;)
had to rewind three times I thought Alex said 85 screws 💀
I love my 2021 Blade 14, but I absolutely hate how the keyboard feels to type on. It's still the same style of keyboard this year. I'm hoping to see something different in their next update cycles.
10:37 I fully expected this when I saw the low-speed RAM spec and would've been highly disappointed if it was soldered in. I really wonder why they put low-speed SODIMMs instead of soldering in high-speed RAM.
I'm a sucker for the aesthetics of the Blade compared to other laptops and I don't mind paying more, while it doesn't have the best performance compared to competitors. What's holding me back is the reliability. I had a 2018 blade and parts slowly broke one by one within a year.
isn't usb 4 just like tb 3?
Please do a video on co pilot using the npu. I know Microsoft will be having co pilot run on AMD npus and it would be cool to cover that
I'm positive that Microsoft will make sure that the whole tech space will be talking about nothing else once 24H2 hits the market. Just wait for it.
It's good that Alex didn't try to touch the screen this time, and better that he didn't wish it was a touchscreen. I cry a little every time he wants to smudge a laptop screen. 😅
My wife keeps trying to touch the screen on my new G14 every time she wants to point at something. My sister does it too. It drives me NUTS. 😛
Can you guys do the Razer Leviathan V2 pro? It’s got “THX certified” AI head tracking with “Virtual surround sound speakers” and “Virtual Headphones”. First of its kind on all 3 I think.
One good thing about this laptop is the upgradable RAM. I have to commend them for that.
I would instead buy a G14 with soldered RAM and get a better device that costs less. But if upgrading your RAM sometime in the distant future is important, then spend more for less.
I bought an Acer Predator with an i9 and 3070 for around GB£1200 last year and it's 144hz and 17", great for gaming once the i9 heat is under control. This, the MSI, laptop will be on sale in 6 months so buy it then and save $1000.
Do rocketskates on SC, pretty please.
I don't know how they ever competed with the market with the prices they sell their laptops at.
This video somehow minimizes like youtube premium on my phone but other videos dont! Anyone can explain?
Looking for a new laptop for work and gaming atm and I think the ASUS G14 has won this round for me.

I’ve replaced the battery in my razed 15” laptop twice already. I’ve had to go after market because razed won’t sell me a battery
What about the new XPS 16 series?!
I sure hope razor releases versions that you can upgrade to what you would like to have
I always felt that Razer was the laptop to get if you needed gaming laptop performance for something that looked more similar to a Dell XPS. Nowadays gaming laptops are so much more bespoke compared to 5, 6 years ago
Razer having a THX certification means literally nothing considering they own THX.
the 16 and 18 have incredible speakers.
this videos intro is hilarious with 2x speed
Those two RAM slots are a HUGE win! Especially since ASUS dropped the single RAM slot on the 2024 Zephyrus G14.
I love to see upgradability on laptops, especially from manufacturers like Razer.
it's a plus but really people don't open their laptops,so it will be just adding an option for the enthusiastic people, wich will make them alot less money cause the few people that open and replace the ram, will not be buying another asus laptop, they will just keep upgrading,so I see why laptop manufacturers don't want to add upgradable memory
How does this compare to a rog g14?
There is a new form factor for laptop memory on the horizon, CAMM2. Also, while it's nice that the industry has standardize storage drives us the m.2 regular size, 2280, the m.2 interface does have standard sizes that can be much shorter, like 2230, 2242, and 2260. Just saying if people are paying the price for this pricey Razer laptop that I'd hope next generation can have these space saving measures. Also, I'm sad to not know what it means to have a RTX 4080 means closer to nothing. Now that it's all depending on what wattage and clock speeds the manufacture has chosen, rather then to find if 2 manufactures use the same GPU die you'll get about the same performance. These current GPUs today are just so hot.
I never had any battery swells issues on my Razer Blade 14 2021
Same on my 2022 Blade 14, no battery issues for 1 year and counting
The only batery issue i could think wiht laptops is playing games wiht the charger conected causing the batery to degrade overtime
@@patozarantonello8572 that's where the smart charging comes into play
@@patozarantonello8572 you can limit the max Battery charge via Razer Synapse between 50-80%, so it wont be at 100% all the time. Playing games without the charger gives you a massive drop in performace.
The problem is the new Asus g14 has a similar build quality (DRAMATICALLY improved from previous gens) and is a whopping $600 less than the razer for the same specs AND even has a better OLED screen vs the razers IPS.
I don't understand who would pick this overall better g14 (2024) for $700 USD less. Better oled display and speakers on the g14.
That's actually a nice laptop. Gives me buyer's itch for sure. However, I'll stay adamant and wait these last few months until Strix hits the market. Just imagine this with maybe even heterogenous Zen5 + Zen5c, a 40 TOPS XDNA2 NPU and 16 CUs of RDNA3+. That's just too much goodness on the horizon not to wait.
The upgradable ram is a massive W, the previous gen did not have that and was soldered on.
Even my 2017 laptop had upgradable ram tf 😭

If I had to buy a 14 inch gaming laptop, this is pretty much the only option I would buy. It actually has the highest GPU power limit (even if it is still voltage limited), has a great screen, and actually keeps both RAM slots so it can be upgraded easily. Not to mention it has per key RGB lighting with both colors of chassis having dark keys (so you don't get light colored keys with white backlighting which is pretty much useless).
I don't see much of a reason for this year's G14 to exist, unfortunately. The second the 2023 model goes on sale, I'd just pick that up over the G14.
